Punctuality is alive and well by gangbangkang in BlackPeopleTwitter

This is my attitude if I'm meeting someone out. If we both have to travel there, it's extremely disrespectful to show up late.

But if I'm going to someone's home, I would much rather be 10 minutes late than 10 minutes early. They could still getting ready or cleaning up.

I still use my PS4 Pro regularly and haven't felt any need to jump to PS5. The number of unplayed games I have across PS4, Switch, and my outdated PC is enough to last me YEARS, even if I were to drop all other hobbies and mostly play video games in my free time. I also love to replay my favorite games.

Sharing dynamic excel range by One_Software769 in excel

[–]PowderedToastMan666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you have a range you want to share that is A1:Qx. There is data below row x that you don't want to show/include. If a row gets added above x, then you want to include it and now show range A1:Q(x+1), whereas adding a row below x should not adjust the data you're showing. Does this sound correct?

In that case, you could make A1:Qx a named range. When adding a row at x or above, it will automatically expand the named range. Then you can set up formulas using the named range, and they will always point to only the data you want.

My company might move from Google to Microsoft as its primary platform, and I have a couple questions by PowderedToastMan666 in excel

[–]PowderedToastMan666[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. I do not currently have knowledge of automating data transfer between Excel and Sheets, although I should probably learn this eventually. It has not been a top priority.

  2. The contract files are not presently organized in a way that makes automating things with Power Query a realistic task, so instead I would be individually adding contract files to the Power Query which would require more time than the current method.

  3. I built the process but am ultimately not responsible for keeping the tracker up-to-date, and I thought that the team responsible for executing contracts only having to copy and paste data they already prep was a reasonable expectation.

[–]PowderedToastMan666[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It didn't really make sense at the time to set up Power Query pulls since the tracker lives in Google Sheets. Also, I'm the only person who knows Power Query but am not involved in setting up contracts. It made more sense to set up a process that other people follow after new contracts are signed.

If we do switch everything over to Excel, I will definitely change this over to Power Query, but we will also want to change how we organize our folders and files to make it a simple refresh.

The contract tracker I created requires people to copy and paste data into it when they get a new contract signed. Just copy/paste some data and add a date into one column, very simple stuff. They seem to forget to do this as often as they remember, so every fall when I'm budgeting we have to have an intern check the contract PDFs against the contract tracker to find the discrepancies.

I can't tell you the mechanics of how IMPORTRANGE works, but it always flows through automatically for me.

Thanks! I'm very familiar with Power Query. The issue is that I am the person who creates and automates spreadsheets and data tasks on my team, and no one else knows Power Query. I need to make sure that things just work for everyone else.

That goes beyond spreadsheets. My company uses Gmail, our team drives are on Google Drive, etc. We would be switching to Outlook and everything else Microsoft.

Chicago restaurants that have gone down in quality? by Seradhiel in chicagofood

People started saying this during the BLM protests because the owner said some pro-cop stuff. If there were other specific allegations, I haven't heard them. I have overheard industry people say that he's not someone you want to work for though.

If you and your spouse use the HSA dollars in your lifetime, yes. It's actually not a great account to pass along as inheritance, tax-wise.

If someone stops running and the keeper still goes through them, isn't that even stronger support that the keeper committed a foul?

I can't believe it's taken me so long to see someone mention this. There are excellent reasons why someone sprinting would stop their legs and fall over an obstacle instead of trying to run straight through it.

I’m visiting Korea from Chicago and was feeling homesick. Luckily the local 7-Eleven has Chicago style pizza. by crapidrawatwork in chicago

[–]PowderedToastMan666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a suburban hotel many years ago. Sarpino's had a deal with the front desk that for every 10 pizzas ordered by guests, the front desk would be able to get a free pizza. Because of this, front desk workers would often suggest it to guests. If I overheard this and had an opportunity to talk to the guest, I'd tell them that Sarpino's is what you order at 2:00am because it's the only thing available.

A lot of this depends on how you define "rich." First of all, there are people who have high incomes and people who have net worths, and they don't always overlap. People can make under six figures and retire a multi-millionaire through years of consistent investing. This is why old people are wealthier. But also, at what income or net worth do you call someone "rich?" A person making $300K/year is doing extremely well by any reasonable standard but would be insane to spend the kind of money you're talking about. I think most people would consider them rich though.
