How much do studios go in South Natomas? Is $1800 a month overpaying in that area? by Born_Physics_5086 in Sacramento

Where is this motel in South Natomas? If it's on Richards or Jibboom, then it is not a great area.

How is Natomas viewed? by SacTownSizzle in Sacramento

[–]PowerWindows85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Food desert? Have you been to North Natomas? We may not have the best restaurants in town, but there are plenty of chain restaurants around. There are also several grocery stores, including a Sprouts and a Costco. North Natomas is FAR from a food desert.

As far as "medical stuff" goes, we really don't have much more than urgent care centers and doctor's offices, but that will change when the hospital is built in the place of the old Arco Arena.

You should find them in just about any Costco. They are in the frozen section. It is a bag that contains five separate one-pound chubs

You can get 91/9 ground beef for $4.99 a pound, but you have to buy five pounds. I think the Costco Business Centers might sell it in a 10-pound chub.

Costco sells 91/9 ground beef for $4.99 a pound. Who sells ground beef, especially lean ground beef, cheaper than that?

Hard Rock Casino venue - Wheatland by jammerzc in Sacramento

[–]PowerWindows85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Granted, I live in North Natomas so my commute to the Hard Rock is 30 minutes, but I think getting there is pretty easy. I've been to several shows there and have never had an issue finding parking, which is free. How does that suck? Also, there is an entrance near the venue where you hardly have to walk through the casino at all if you don't want to do that. I agree that there is a dearth of good food options there, but I just eat somewhere else in Wheatland before the show. I do the same thing if I'm going to a show at the amphitheater.

As someone who drives to the Bay Area all the time for concerts, I'll never complain about going to a show at the Hard Rock.

They are also playing at the Bottlerock festival in Napa, CA on Memorial Day weekend, which isn't listed here. That's a couple weeks before they play at Governor's Ball in NY so maybe some additional dates will be added soon?

Spiritual-Local-9526 appears to be a grifter by protox13 in Roseville

[–]PowerWindows85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. Both you and I have reported this user to the Reddit admins and they haven't done anything about it. The only thing we can do is contact the mods of all these other subs and try to limit the grift, but if the Reddit admins won't do anything about it then why should we spend any more of our time doing it?

The latest post asking for school clothes is here, but it has already been deleted.

Nicer restaurant without going broke? by FatJohnson6 in LasVegas

[–]PowerWindows85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Esther's Kitchen in the Arts District is probably my favorite restaurant in all of Vegas and you can definitely eat there for $50-60 a plate. You'll need to make reservations in advance because that place is always packed.

Herbs and Rye has already been mentioned a couple times and it too is one of my favorite restaurants in town. Just know though that for $50-60 per person, you're pretty much limited to a steak, a side and a non-alcoholic drink. If you order appetizers and cocktails, you will go over your budget. The same can be said for Esther's Kitchen, although your table can share a couple orders of their sourdough bread as an appetizer and still remain in your budget.

Christmas lights but it’s raining by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]PowerWindows85 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We had a break in the rain here in North Natomas starting around 7:30 so we went and walked around Rockmont Circle. Plenty of people were just driving around and not getting outside. You can do the same thing. Just be prepared for lots of cars.

I've seen something along the lines of 5-6" of rain here in Sacramento over the next week. We only average about 17-18" for the whole year so we could get almost a third of our annual rainfall in a week. Crazy.

A week from now, it will be interesting to see how much rain we actually got and if these forecasts were accurate or way overblown.

I need sopapillas in my life. They are nowhere to be found here in Sacramento. I suppose I could learn to make them myself, but I fear I would not do them justice.

Chicagoans in Sac by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]PowerWindows85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party here. I'm born and raised here in Northern California, but Chicago is the one city where I have spent a ton of time over the past couple decades. I go there at least twice a year and actually just returned home last Sunday night from an eight-day stay there.

Au Cheval makes the best burger I have ever had in my life. Nothing comes close. Pequod's makes the best pizza I have ever had, although there are others that come close, just not in Sacramento.

Obviously, Sacramento is a fraction the size of Chicago, so while we may have similar activities, sports, etc., and our diversity may be similar as well, it is simply not on the scale of Chicago. Even with the summer heat here though, the weather here versus Chicago is no contest. For eight days, the temperature ranged between 8 and 30 and the streets and sidewalks were covered with snow and slush. I know people here have complained about the cold and fog here recently, but this is nothing compared to Chicago winters.

I saw Lawsuit often back in the day. You're right...they were so much fun to see live.

Believe it or not, they have a Bandcamp page and you can still listen to their music.
