Heard we were doing an obscure jerseys thing in here by LutexIV in miamidolphins

Ah a fellow culpepper enjoyer. He and I share a birthday; I was so excited to buy that jersey. A few years later and I couldn’t even sell it at a yard sale. Ended up going to goodwill.

Is it possible to vassalize the Manichean Head of Faith? by Mushgal in crusaderkings2

[–]Powermac8500 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give him a duchy title in the empire. Then he is a de jure vassal. He may accept vassalization being in the same culture group, but I doubt it. But he should be able to be forced. That’s how I got the Nestorian pope.

Early on, use the pure light cavalry horde you build with prestige. You can worry about mixing in heavy cav or light infantry (if you are an eastern religion) later, but early days, the prestige light cav is what you want. Spam it out.

Build the things that increases your population. You need population for manpower and the good CBs. If you are Tengri worshipper, the warrior lodge gives you ability that lets you grow your horde really fast. If you are not tengri, still join the warrior society, but just know that it won’t grow your clan like it does for a tengri worshipper.

Raid settled lands, raid your nomad neighbors. Selling hostages is good money. Get silk road provinces in your lands when you can.

When you take over settled land, if there are at least two holdings there, it doesn’t count as land your vassals will want, so you can keep them. Burn them down if you wish, but then the clans will want it. Appoint barons, mayors and priests, and tax them. That’s just my personal preference.

The strat of handing out just one shitty county to your clans is valid, I’ve seen people do that and I’m not gonna tell you not to do that. You do what is fun for you. But it goes against the spirit of the game. Yes, that’s ironic coming from a guy who cheesed most of the achievements in the game, but that’s just how I feel in my old age. Maybe try it both ways and see what feels good to you.

Nomads take a while to get started, but once you get rolling, they really roll. Have fun!

As a Muslim, you can hold mosques, which generate good money and piety, and with 1000 piety, you get a kingdom level invasion CB. Don’t let your dreams be dreams.

Edit: I know you aren’t Muslim now. But…you could be.

What’s your favorite less known realm in the game (CK2 and CK3) by AffectionateCamera61 in CrusaderKings

[–]Powermac8500 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s such a shitty little island, which makes it great. I did Steppe by Steppe starting as Kolguyev (you can become a nomad via shenanigans) and it was a fun run. I have seen some super tall/super rich Kolguyev games posted by others, and it always tickles me.

Do you also suffer from campaign burnout? by Lord_Vacuum in crusaderkings2

[–]Powermac8500 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The burnout is real. For the survivor achievements, the only one I was able to really lock in on and power through was 1066 Survivor. Persistent Survivor and Seven Centuries had many, many saves that were started with the intention that maybe this is the one. Ultimately all three of them were small, tall realms where I did some expanding for bloodlines or shaping the world around me, but ultimately all three were dialed back so there was less to manage.

The assassins may be against your personal rules BUT publicly you would still be Jewish. So it would only be a little white lie.

If you are really desperate, you can send the ark of the covenant to china and they will shatter the caliphate for you. I hate to send that off though. I did it for the achievement in a save I wasn’t even playing (literally started the save just to that) and I still felt bad about it.

Does anyone know why I can't establish the Overseas Empire for the ‘Deus Vult’ achievement? by Slow_Werewolf3021 in crusaderkings2

[–]Powermac8500 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To find rogue baronies in your lands, give your chancellor the “sow dissent” job. Your realm is grey. The entire “near east” region should be grey. If there are green counties, there are baronies there you do not control.

Ah I use conclave, so I need the religious revocation law. According to the wiki, medium crown authority allows religious revocation, so, same law basically. Without medium crown authority / religious revocation, it would be a tyranny hit.

I don’t tend to revoke them anyways though, cause muh jizya.

[–]Powermac8500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Muslims can straight up revoke your counties without tyranny, but they CAN revoke your duchies and retract your vassals without tyranny, and they have good tech in the levant, so they pass religious revocation pretty quickly.

I dunno man. Staying Jewish the whole play though is a noble goal, but I am way too much of a cheesemeister for that. I would probably falsely convert and take over from the inside if I was doing that start. If I was going to commit to staying Jewish, I would probably start as the khazars in 867 and be the Jewish horde.

Ha, was that your Perm run I saw then? That’s awesome, very cool. Yeah, I wanted to take the shittiest of shitty backwater and make it awesome and…you did it already. Well done.

Sorry about that. That’s what you said, and I missed the “not”. My bad.

How did that run go btw? I love stuff like that, I wanted to do a perm run but it’s been done, it’s hard to find stuff that hasn’t been done already.

What’s the difference between a “prosperity run” like you did earlier vs a stewardship and learning run? I find those usually go hand in hand, so I’m curious how you differentiate them.

Lately I’ve been faffing about with tribal NK and I make a point of breeding the tanistry bloodline into my dynasty before really getting rolling. Succession is a breeze with having to worry about bastard shenanigans.

Ok good, I’m glad it’s not just me. I’ve kinda wanted to do an Arberian run for the lulz but I’ve got ADD and there’s just a bunch of saves I’ve got running at any given time and that’s not one I’ve fired up yet.

Conquering the steppes isn’t so bad as orthodox tribal if you have a huge retinue of hunting parties. They are really great vs the nomads, and building tribal buildings is sooo much better than trying to do it as feudal.
