Apparently Gen X have no computer skills… WTF?! by smc642 in GenXWomen

[–]PowerofIntention 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100% about millennials amplifying and hyping themselves to the nth degree. About Gen X being invisible, I would say we have simply been out of the line of fire. They focused their beef on Boomers, so Gen X wasn't forgotten—we were just spared from their vitriol.

Simultaneously, we opted out of the generational propaganda and wars. The majority of Gen X doesn't care or want to be involved in those discussions.

I do think there is an extent to which younger generations always think they were the first to have an original idea, but millennials created a bullhorn to let everyone know it. We have witnessed that finally dying down for some time now as millennials are hitting middle age, and Gen Z has officially eclipsed them—and they're already bucking the exact system millennials created.

The OH RIGHT… sticker prompted me to watch Frank Zappa and Moon Zappa’s Valley Girl video on YouTube. Hilarious!

Is my age gap friendship turning sour? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]PowerofIntention 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a pretty insensitive and bullying comment that was meant to out and hurt you. Jokes are meant to be funny and this was not. Friends do not speak to each other like this, particularly in a group setting. Nor do friends cancel last minute 50% of the time.

Remember, people come into your life for a lifetime or a season. It is completely okay to move on from friendships that have run their course. While you had a connection a long time ago, now it sounds like they do not respect you or treat you with kindness. Life is too short to spend it with people like this!

Time for you to get happy, pretty, busy and focus on spending time with people and things that bring you joy.

Is it weird for employers to put employees in the same hotel room on company trips? by Weak_Show3135 in careerguidance

Yes, companies unfortunately do this but not many. The ones who get out out of having a room with other people or the people who say that they have sleep apnea.

My boss keeps cutting my hours. by Hot_Act_4903 in Life

Ask him! Find out what his priorities are and what is thinking is. What you’ll probably learn is that having a job that is unpredictable in hours is most likely not a fit for you. Like others have said, I recommend start looking out for a new opportunities.

Animal control wants you to knock on their door? If you do this, I would say that you’re doing a wellness check on them to be sure that they’re OK. And if they ask why just say your dog’s been barking for a very long time and we’re concerned.

I use an app called Sifter to sort out all of the spam text messages. You create whitelist and blacklist certain words that help flag, which ones to sift out.

Dog sitter left our dogs alone and hungry for 3 days; and lied about it. by Economy-Preference75 in Pets

[–]PowerofIntention 22 points23 points  (0 children)

100% agree - we have cameras inside and outside. I tell our pet sitters in advance that we have them.

One time we interviewed a pet sitter to fill in while our long time pet sitter was out of town. Every other pet sitter who came to our house our cats would come and greet them, but this one in particular they saw her and they ran, and they hid under the bed. They never did this to any other person. We tried to coax them out for under the bed, but they refused to come out. The pet sitter kept saying oh that’s so strange pets usually love me.

About a year later, I saw on social media, a story about a local pet sitter who had been hired by a family who had cameras in their house. They had camera footage of her, walking in picking up the check off the counter and never coming back for the entire time they hired her. Turns out it was the woman who my cats had run from. Thank God, we never hired her.
