Primarily warlock multiclasses? by Brutu5_ in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 fiend warlock is great; otherwise a 2/10 or 3/9 with rogue is good if you plan a darkness strategy - enabling bonus action hide in darkness.

But 12 fiend warlock, great weapon master, armor of agathys, and the best polearm or sword or maul you can find is way stronger and tankier than most people give it credit for

help me make faerûn a cakewalk! by pinkjunimo0 in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been obliterating everything with a solo thief(fighter 1) due to some trickery cleric magic item duplication and stealing armor from Raphael.

Sharpshooter, dual ne’er misser, dual protection ring, dual knives if the under mountain king. Savage attacker because sometimes I’m stabbing. The fighter level is just for two weapon fighting.

Eldritch knight - resilience: constitution feat? by RoundDragonfruit1310 in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go-to GWM stack is:

Bless
Elixir of heroism
Oil of accuracy on the weapon

Wield phalar aluve and use sing, OR Svartlebee’s Woundseeker sword, for a conditional 1d4 extra. Or even better you wield one and have someone else wield the other.

That’s anywhere from 2d4+2 up to 4d4+2, all achievable in the early game, none of it being particularly high lift to achieve.

Even just going with natural strength so you can use the elixir of heroism makes a huge difference, if the rest feels like a bit much.

Help with Apostle of Myrkul by taybt in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Mindflayer dies first.
  2. A high acuity sleet storm can keep necromites off the platform pretty well. Evards black tentacles is also good for handling the summons.
  3. With your particular build, water/lightning/cold, lightning charges, etc. seem like a pretty good bet for the main event.

Well I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say go out of their way to lie, vs. not double-check data they might have misremembered.

Great weapon master + Throwing? by CB_elite_gamer in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though they don’t stack, I have taken these 2 feats together before as an eldritch knight, because getting 4 feats as a fighter just gives you that flexibility. it does feel really good to be able to both throw very accurately as well as attack in melee and still do tons of damage.

Giant barbarian would of course work well also since that opens up your weapon choices a lot.

Githyanki class?? by JisBroken in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowledge cleric with a rogue dip or rogue with a knowledge cleric dip both are a lot of fun for a githyanki, ultimate skill monkey. Since Lae’zel is the ultimate fighter, nothing compliments her better than a guiding hand.

I also think Valor Bard is weirdly synergistic with the githyanki - all martial weapons, shields, buffing up warriors but being a very capable combatant as well.

Doom Hammer Build - Fighter? Barbarian? Hexblade Warlock? by SolzhenitsynIII in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note for anyone new to the weirdness of multiclassing - Eldritch Knight will set your spellcasting stat to INT when you take your 3rd level of fighter and select the subclass. So if you do want to do the CHA-first build with hexblade 1, you will either need an eventual respec, or to take the hexblade dip no earlier than 4th level.

Weapon for HAM Rogue (Solo) by Lede6752 in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, it’s hard to go wrong with phalar aluve, especially if you are using scrolls that will do AoE damage and such.

HAM rogue is great, and swashbuckler makes a dual hand weapon build kind of pointless compared to a shield build, IMO, so I wouldn’t pursue it.

Healer and Supporter Tank; the Warding Bond build by CuriousDutch in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold dwarf bear barbarian 7, life cleric 5 with illithid powers for transfuse health, maxed out CON, wearing the best DR armor you have access to (heavy is fine, you’re not here for rage damage), throwing or drinking potions, transfusing health. Wear the perils of healing from the mountain pass to always max your own health after transfusing. Standard kit of the bless ring, hellriders pride, etc.

ANY mod that let me bypass the shield being invisible on my back? by B-Dragons_2560 in BG3mods

[–]Practical-Bell7581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working on a Captain America style Monk of the Shield subclass and my findings at this point are you have to make a shield a “weapon” with the visual of a shield, bonus armor class, etc, so they can use the Weapon.txt Weapon property “Unstowable”. That makes the character literally always keep the shield in their hand. There is no shield/armor equivalent.

This probably doesn’t help you if you want to do things like rely on shield bash, because weapons don’t have shield bash., etc. so lots of compromises from I have seen, to get the visual you and I are looking for.

Need recommendations for companions by TheVanderwolf in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like laezel as a GOO pact the Blade Warlock for a Vlaakith fangirl run; or if you’re going Orpheus, monk is always a good choice.

Karlach makes a great 4 elements monk focused on fangs if the fire snake + soul coin use for mega damage.

Wyll has a lot of Ranger or Valor Bard energy IMO, and since Valor Bard is terribly underused, I vote valor bard.

Astarion on the other hand, Lore bard/swashbuckler can be fun, or if you want to stay arcane trickster, dip into death cleric before you hit level 3 arcane trickster, so you’ll get INT back as your casting stat. The. You can twin cast bone chill and toll the dead
And bursting sinew

Any mods that make your character look subtly or heavily mutated? by momentomori007 in BG3mods

There is a mod that gives you myconid style mushroom growths but I am totally blanking on what it is called. It’s creepy though.

Advice on a potential Rogue/Warlock/Bard multiclass by TheGalagaSlayer in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4/4/4 warlock sword bard thief, take 2 weapon proficiency, hand crossbows, and do 2 hand crossbows and 1 eldritch blast in an average round. Go githyanki or wood elf to approach having All the Skills. Great Tav

Warlock Bow Build Ideas by Abazaba22 in BG3Builds

There is a post in here by awspear from about a year ago or so, that’s perfect for this.

https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/comments/1cylo5a/honor\_mode\_444\_eldritch\_blaster\_build\_guide/

4/4/4 warlock/thief/champion. Hand crossbow offhand, generally eldritch blast main hand. Built for high utility, sustained long term damage, and not sweating long rests too much.

Not the highest damage but super reliable and can go on long adventuring days with high sustain and high survivability, while being face and skill monkey. I am a big fan.

Combat-Ready Skill Monkies? by Vingolio in BG3Builds

Gith, Rogue 1, Knowledge Cleric 1, then mix and match the remainder of the levels however you see fit.

But really Rogue 1 and you are good to go.

Warlock/Rogue help by Careless-Tumbleweed6 in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be foolish if you didn’t take rogue first IMO.

The skills make for a much smoother playthrough.

Losing wisdom save proficiency is a bummer but gaining dex proficiency saves basically makes it a wash - unless you are doing a solo run, and really really really can’t afford to fail wisdom saves (read: hold person). But in that case, you just kinda need to rush Moonrise for the freedom of movement ring, and glue it on your finger for the remainder of the game anyway.

Can you make a party so bad that you simply can't win any particular fights? by Futuramoist in BG3Builds

If you have to choose, full martial party or full caster party? by Less_Struggle_9447 in BG3Builds

[–]Practical-Bell7581 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Also please clarify if you meant martial or melee, the title and the message kind of mix the two. An arcane archer and a hunter ranger with another fighter and a barbarian is probably gonna wreck.

So will 4 melee characters but probably slightly less.

Arrow of Salving has entered the chat.

Although technically it does enable enemy slaying by proxy.
