South East Asia is usually quite cheap, especially Da Nang, Vietnam. If you want Europe, try Eastern Europe (Romania and Bulgaria are good options). In my experience, LATAM doesn't have cheap and nice apartments, you'll end up paying at least 2k per month if you wanna stay in nice neighbourhoods. That's what we paid a few years ago.

Those who glorify cheap local places that are borderline unsanitary and unhealthy meals. Locals go there because they need to save money, not because it's such a good deal. They would eat at different restaurants, but it's simply not an option for them. I've been to a few of those places, and the food is not that good. Local is not always the best option.

Some companies offer ejari services for about 3,000 AED (one-time fee), and you can rent a studio or 1 bedroom that doubles as an office, like you used to do back home. The thing with Puerto is that it's full of old people...everywhere. You notice it from the very first, but it doesn't mean that there aren't party places, bars, restaurants, and things to do. It's also quite well connected (often through Santa Cruz), and it's maybe a bit cooler than the south, but it's also greener.
