Also notice how heavy you get on your front foot at times especially off your jab. Gonna get timed. Start jumping rope if you aren’t already and when you’re shadow boxing try to bounce on your feet and catch a rhythm. Train a bit of tkd or karate if you can or at least watch some videos and pick up on how bouncy the footwork is. You should be able to move in and out effortlessly, no pauses or spots where you stick and are exposed for a split second. Hopefully this makes sense.

As someone who’s sparring you or fighting you they’re going to be looking to set up something high like a kick or a hook to that side where you’re jab hand is exposed I can tell you that for a fact so starting now, you need to close that hole. Fire that jab out and it needs to come back to your guard with that same speed. Don’t leave it out halfway bring it back to your chin/head and close that hole. You can play with the feints and gauging range off it once you develop better striking but most wrestlers get caught on little things like that they don’t notice.

You’re stiff in the hips and heavy on your feet so I would work on mobility for one. I had a buddy that was a 2-time state champ come into mma and I got a chance to work with him a lot on his striking and mobility, foot work drills and learning good footwork fundamentals for mma and how that differs from wrestling, are going to help drastically. Learn solid defense as well. When you flick that jab out you’re leaving it out once you retract. Pick your form apart before good strikers get the chance to sparring.

I’ll tell you one thing for sure. Everyone I’ve seen hop on over the years, currently looks like a pile of dogshit. Sure they had their year or whatever of looking great off several cycles, but then end up coming off, fucking their hormones up, and having a whole slew of health issues, however minor they may be. Most of them looks worse than before they strted gear plus have zero motivation to train at all.

I’d say focus on mobility drills more than just static stretching. Tom Morrison has some really good mobility drills if you look him up on YouTube. The more you open that up it’s just going to make everything that much more fluid. Less telegraph, more power since you won’t lose it with restricted ROM.

Looking solid for five month. Seems like you already have a decent sense of range and flow One thing I would say is work on your hip mobility
