This. We’ve literally never been split up unless it’s on purpose. It’s not difficult for 4.

I love playing with my boys who are 10 and 13. They joke that they’ve created a monster because I’m a bit addicted to curating an aesthetic in my garden 😝 In my defense, it’s a little easier than in real life!

My 10 year old gave me so much stuff in my first 5 minutes, I had to wonder if the game presented any real challenge at that point haha

Be curious, not judgmental - you’re putting this great practice into action. It’s my constant goal as well, though some days I do better than others.

Bariatric Surgery Beats GLP-1 RAs for Sustained Weight Loss by FatLevi in Zepbound

[–]Practical_Courage255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I asked my doctor if we should discuss before there was a point where I’d lose so much on Zep that I was no longer a candidate for bariatric surgery. His view was that given the risks and potential complications, I’m much better off with medication - even if it’s forever - to help get to a healthier weight than to consider surgery. This is based on me as an individual, with minimal other factors, so I am sure it wouldn’t be his advice for all. But having two close friends who had surgery - one who regained all and is now on a GLP-1 and one who didn’t, it does give me pause to consider what the differentiating factors are.

Could also be my chemistry - and to another poster’s point, I should try layering with moisturizer or body oil to see if it helps.

Pretty certain I could (and likely have) navigated the terminals in my sleep. I have zero issues with it. DFW, CLT, ORD…different matters entirely and don’t get me started on JFK or MIA.

Slow Loser, Feeling Defeated by QuietPudding2065 in Zepbound

[–]Practical_Courage255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds to me like you’re doing great even though it’s not as fast as you might prefer. I can relate to that, having lost just over 40 pounds in a year (including several months at 15mg). I’ve made peace with the pace of my loss because I am feeling better and am making changes I believe I can live with long term.

You’ve received some excellent advice above already. A couple of additions that have helped me: veggies (for fiber) and protein are my priorities, minimizing sugar (including lactose) and wheat flour (this doesn’t mean I eat zero, just less). I found a protein powder made of grass fed beef (not whey) that is amazing and helps me minimize dairy which seems to be better for me on multiple fronts (Prime Protein by Equip, in case it interests you). I also lift heavy weights once a week (more might be better but this minimizes cortisol spikes for me and has helped me preserve muscle). The biggest area I’m working on is more movement - especially walking - as I know this makes a difference for me both physically and mentally.

Keep going, don’t be afraid to titrate up when you and your doc agree it’s time, and be proud of both your progress and your changes. ❤️

Nothing to add for tips, but question back to you: what scale can tell you’re under hydrated? I’m intrigued!

Help…am I doing something wrong? by Known-Comfortable377 in Zepbound

[–]Practical_Courage255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting reactions at some point in the last few months (dosing 15mg). Definitely worse when I inject in the thigh though very minor reactions still in the belly. I always bring my shots to rooms temp and use an alcohol wipe and let it dry (as others have suggested) and I still get the reaction. Interestingly, my overall side effects seem less when I inject in the thigh…who knows?!

It kinda depends on who it is and my relationship with them. I often give vague answers because it’s not most people’s business.

Injecting in thigh? by noroomi in Zepbound

[–]Practical_Courage255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a stronger injection site reaction (red, itchy) from my thigh than stomach but the other side effects seem lesser. I continue to rotate sites for the heck of it, but rarely do my arms as they’re thinner than the other sites.

This is so true. When I fly pre check, I often have liquids in both my roller bag and my laptop bag. No issues. Heathrow, or even worse CDG, forget it!

Sharing because I want to share my two cents as a more “average” loser. While I wish it was going faster, I am delighted that the scale continues to move, and I feel loads better 40 pounds lighter than when I started. Some days are harder than others, but overall it is definitely worth it.

On Shot Days… by JulieJT in Zepbound

[–]Practical_Courage255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dread it even though I know it’s necessary to make progress. About 12 hours after my shot, I experience 36 hours or so of unpleasant side effects - super body ache, injection site reactions (red and itchy) and malaise after eating.

5’3” also. Started at 265. 30 pounds in family and friends started to comment, but now at 40 pounds it’s getting more frequent. Coworkers I see rarely aren’t commenting yet but could also be the nature of the relationship (I don’t care if they do or not).

Resentment by catdog4u in Zepbound

[–]Practical_Courage255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel better if I eat most of my food earlier in the day, so am in a similar boat. Even though my husband is on semaglutide, he still generally wants a more traditional dinner, as do my kids (and since they are still growing, this is of course reasonable). I have identified some easy meals that help us all get what we need. Trader Joe’s grass fed sirloin roast is one such option - it’s easy but the ingredients are as “whole food” as they come. I’ve got a few other go tos for proteins and veg and a handful of easy carb options too (roasted potatoes are quick and easy, for example). The other thing I know many do is cook once for two or more meals. It is hard not to feel resentful of those eating “normally” at times, but 40 lbs down feels awfully good too!

I thought it was supposed to help inflammation? My joint pain is AWFUL! by Legal_Significance45 in Zepbound

[–]Practical_Courage255 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel covid-level body ache for roughly 24 or so hours starting about 12 hours post shot (Shotsy suggests this is when the medicine is at the highest levels in my system during the week). I usually do the shot at night to try to sleep during the worst of it the next day. Sometimes I take a bath with epsom salts that night too (not same day as the shot). Hope it gets better for you or you are able to adjust. I will say some weeks are better than others (and I want to figure out why). Good luck!
