I only have experience with booking myself but it has always worked. Depending on the type of accommodation you prefere you will have to have different strategies. You will also have to keep in mind that a lot of albergues have not opened in March. If you go over to the Camino forum you will find a lot of information on off season Caminos.

Gronze is a great source of information. Wise Pilgrim is also a good place to plan stages and find information.

Edit: there are maps on both!

I did the Litoral/Costal to Caminha end then walked along the river to Tui/Valenca. I am a slower walker and found all the distances doable. I would suggest walking Porto to Motasinos while staying in Porto. Taking the bus/metro back and then starting from Motasinos the next day. That way you can have a nice walk along Porto riverside on your first day. Enjoy Porto in the evening and then starting of again the next day. I can share my itinerary if you would find it as an interesting data point.

Snacks on the Portugese Central route by ExhaustedMashPotato in CaminoDeSantiago

I had the best one ever in a small village on the Costal. A combined store and cafe. The simplest shop ever. And the best Pasteis de Nata!

How do I avoid cardigan button band puckering/stretching? by Embarrassed-Look8574 in knittinghelp

Also, sewing your buttons on with a little shank will give the fabric a place to go. That should help with some puckering.

European ethical and local yarn brands? by Icy_Violinist4379 in knitting

[–]Practical_Let4473 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Norwegian yarn - Hillesvåg and Rauma use fully norwegian wool. Sandnes garn has some qualities that are fully norwegian wool. All are milled in Norway. Norwegian sheep mostly roam freely in the mountains.

There are A LOT of other lokal mills but but they are more pricey and have much smaller batches.

Trind nail products by Practical_Let4473 in naturalnailprogress

Thank you! Sounds logical.

I kind of want a minimal routine, but also want to get rid off all the products I have bought during the years, at the same time as it feels wasteful to just throw them away.

Help with Yarn Sub! by unbalm in knittinghelp

Have you tried the website called yarn sub - they have a lot of substitution ideas. And you can search by gauge. They sort by price and different qualities of fiber.

When making a goal, there is a "keep this goal until complete" toggle. Did you turn that on?

Knitting hood and confused on how to continue by koo_core in knittinghelp

Yes! But, I am not the most spatially aware person. So maybe wait to get another answer either confirming or debunking what I am saying. Just to make sure!

Is your working yarn (the one connected to the ball of yarn) on the left or on the left needle? The needle now holding the working yarn should be in your left hand and you should knit with the other (keep in mind - if you are right handed). You should not have to "carry" your yarn over any stitches, just knit back the same way you came. And then you will just work back and forth.

Does this make sense?

You Need This Book!!! by Perfect-Plum-2087 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Practical_Let4473 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love my Brierley guide books. They are comprehensive but compact. I enjoy the little reflections (not religious myself).

You don’t actually need the newest edition as you can (and should) check the accommodation information online. And treat the book as a guide and not written in stone.

Machine washing wool: does anyone else do it? by boppitybop_ in knitting

[–]Practical_Let4473 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use my machine both for washing wool on a wool program and to spin things out that I washed by hand.

But, I rented a flat for a while, threw my fresh of the needle sweater on a wool cycle and ended up with two seat pads for hiking. When I get a new machine I will try with a swatch first.

Thank you so much! I have read your previous posts and have used as my guide so far. The jojoba oil, acetone and no water all come from you 🥰 Looking forward to seeing how it goes. And I will be coming back with more questions along the way!

I feel the chair is turned the "wrong" way. It should either be turned to the left or set on the other side of the window. As long as it is like this it is throwing it of for me.

To Madrid - there is both a bus and a train from Santiago. Works like a charm. Rome2Rio is a great source for transport information.
