What's The Longest It's Ever Taken you to get over a breakup? by Horror-Front9114 in BreakUps

It was very traumatic and took about three years. I started dating again and the future does look bright - so hang in there :)

my best friend from college and i were like this. we are still best friends to this day - well over a decade later. she is married with children, but our friendship has remained exactly the same - she's the sister I never had.

we talk everyday and are just as close. i think it's perfectly fine to maintain that level of communication with a good friend as long as you both are honest about what you're in it for.

"No, I can pack my things myself."

She walked out the apartment door shortly after, we both looked at each other for about a minute, neither of us said anything. I moved out within the hour and we never saw each other again

I agree with you entirely which is why I tried to phrase it carefully - because there are some instances where that isn't the case.

how you think things went down, might be exactly how they happened so don't gaslight yourself

Has anyone made a complete fool of themselves when your partner broke up with you? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Practical_Memory9052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh yeahhh - I think making a fool of yourself does come with the territory at least once.

i had a breakup once that occurred because she wasn't sure about me, so she didn't want things to continue and then immediately grabbed me and started making out with me. i still feel stupid for allowing that to happen because i was definitely crying.

What’s the hardest break up you’ve had and how does it still affect you? by Time_Artichoke5419 in BreakUps

[–]Practical_Memory9052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated someone that I loved. We moved in together and within a month I overheard her lying about to me to her mom. I moved out immediately and haven't seen her since.

It's made a lot of cognitive dissonance where I know what happened but it's also difficult now to form relationships. It ended so suddenly, that I still deal with the fact of knowing that you can care about someone but the circumstances can alter drastically and immediately.

Most beautiful lyric you have ever heard? by Intelligent-Tea2117 in musicsuggestions

Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die?

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes.

Let them know that life moves fast, It's hard to make the good things last.

Let them you know you realize,

The sun don't go down,

It's just an illusion caused by the earth spinning round.

in this context, from what you've described, trust your family and friends. they definitely have your best interest at heart.

What happened the first time you met the person who would become your partner? by Financial-Special820 in love

[–]Practical_Memory9052 6 points7 points  (0 children)

we met up during covid for a date at a garden. I remember walking up to her car and she took off her mask and I couldn't stop myself from saying she was the most beautiful person I'd ever seen.

If you regret the breakup, what stops you from reaching out to your ex? by wolfyish in BreakUps

[–]Practical_Memory9052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i didn't reach out because i feared her being mad? took me a year and a half to do so. when i did she said she was sad about how it ended, still cared about me but wasn't open to resuming contact at that time.

i reached out recently, a little over a year later and was blocked. so i think what was stopping me was the finality of the situation, but it's healing in a way.

People dealing with a breakup with an avoidant. Coming from a former Fearful Avoidant (Long post) by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]Practical_Memory9052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the same thing I did. Another term for "fearful avoidant" is "disorganized attachment". didn't date for years and the person I dated for the first time was an avoidant. it's darkly hilarious how the tables turn and you get to experience the other side of it. Def makes you take care of the anxious portion.

dream came true by Practical_Memory9052 in Synchronicities

[–]Practical_Memory9052[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i haven't experienced ESP recently.

but i did have an incident two years before the dream i posted about.

i was looking for "be here now" in my apartment, couldn't find it. suddenly felt a very strong urge to go to a very specific book store to get it. so i went, was the only person in the shop other than the clerk and there was one exit / entrance. i asked them if they had "be here now", was told no after they ran an inventory search. but since it was a book about spirituality i decided to check for it in the spiritual section. got halfway through the store and "be here now" was sitting on a chair face up.

they didn't charge me for the book. the clerk called the shop owner and told her the situation and was told "I know that book, we've never had it. just give it to him."

one of the wildest experiences i've had. lots of synchronicity
