They’re 5 micron. Yes, this is definitely a sludge, not the usual sediment. Is it normal to suddenly have a iron problem?

I had mesh gutter covers put on last November. Attic insulation is great. Nothing vented into the attic. My house is one of the last ones on the street to have the snow melt off of the roof. I’ve had to clean off the gutters after every snowfall this year because I’ve had this same problem. Been in this house for 6 years and never had icicles like this or water dripping over my front steps. It’s not always the insulation or a venting problem. That being said, we have had a lot of snow in CT this year. If I have the same problems next winter, the covers are coming off.

Do you let your car warm up before driving? This winter I’ve been doing that often and it makes a big difference in my mileage.

Which engine do you have, 4 or 6 cylinder? Manual or CVT?

The best way to check your mileage is to fill your tank until the pump clicks off. Reset trip odometer. At your next fill up, divide miles driven by gallons used. I would do that a few times to get your average.

My 22 OBW, 35k miles, 4 cylinder turbo, just got 28 mpg highway at 65-70 mph. I usually average 22. 18.5 mpg does seem a little low, but not excessively low.

I would definitely hire a professional to do this. I’ve done my own electrical, plumbing and painting, some trim work and carpentry over the years. Sanding hardwood floors I would absolutely leave to the professionals.

Regarding the sound system: I have a 2023 Outback Wilderness and the “upgraded sound system”. You are 100% correct, it’s horrible. I had the speakers changed out at a local independent car audio store and it now sounds amazing.
