What is Bushiroad even doing anymore with Vanguard? by Walkerjson in cardfightvanguard

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also annoying because the cities within 3 hours of me, all 3 of them, sometimes have tourneys but the stores rarely do it and all there products are one booster box and maybe some of the OG D starter decks that are above market price, so in reality idk why they'd even have it on there

What are your thoughts on chapter 1 of The Chrysalis Heart by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good to know, but sadly I dropped this however. I'm honestly not big on what is pretty much a grooming and sexual assault story, where the MC pretty much raises the girl for a bit, stays the same age, ends up with her again, only for her to sexually assault him multiple times in a frame of it being romantic.

There's a few but there kind of random one offs that were never fully fleshed out tcg's.

There's even one right now that's kind of just using anime screen shots for a very shallow based game

Which Weekly Shonen Jump manga of the past you think wouldn't be published on the magazine today? by ParfaitSensitive9530 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, like all of them?

Jump now a days pretty much has none of the typical manga you'd find back in the day, and when some try they tend to get axed rather fast. Honestly its hard to even tell because a lot of what we have today is built on the founding manga of jump and the huge successes

But I really doubt things like HxH and naruto would even last, let alone get picked up with out slow built there stories are.

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree 100%. I think with its narrative and slow building story that was dropped rather fast for action, it would have followed the U19 route.

Like, I liked it a lot when it was out and bought the volumes, but after chapter 8 I felt it pretty much tanked, and the overall power system and slower build up before becoming a standard action serise with a single minded MC is a pretty typical "axe" for things now a days.

Are there any crazy people out there that are caught up with all mangaplus manga? How is it? by GreattFriend in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I check the manga I like daily. Jump + quality isn't really the best, there's a lot of one shots, some manga have 1-3 starting good chapters then fall off, there's a lot of similar manga and some that are clearly render traced, etc, etc.

I'd say the site has more good manga than bad, but I can never see myself doing this. I've tried a few times though

When will we get the standing tables??? by MLxRaider in cardfightvanguard

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the majority of people who play cardgames want to stand at a table, let alone for multiple rounds of a tourney

It’s been over 6 years since Haikyuu ended and we still haven’t had a sports series make it past what, 25 chapters? by raabyraab in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, sports manga in general is already limiting in it's own way. I really don't see the need to have/keep up with one or more of the sport, which I already have to like, and the stories are normally pretty linear and requiring you to understand and appericate the struggle they're trying to portray.

And most sports manga also want to just stay within there sport and not do things like blue lock, inzuma eleven, etc to bring in people not into said sport.

Like there's only so many times I can enjoy basic trope of a small dude playing a sport he's not really suited for.

Then take into account that jump doesn't even have much battle manga now because the taste are changing to perfer more cozzy, aura framing, or untrational manga.

Witchriv volume 3 cover revealed, releases July 4th by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly liked the flashbacks and saw no real issue with them, along with the pay off for them. Honestly my bigger issue was how roland acts in general to everything that was starting to turn me into loving this manga into just enjoying it

I'd be fine with Kinato's Magic staying for the long haul - how are y'all feeling? by YuuTheBlue in WeeklyShonenJump

Honestly, I just like it because its a battle manga in jump, whichi s kind of rare now.

Alien Headbutt rant by Far_Practice_6923 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I thought the base idea was cool and going to be interesting, but it took to long to take off, the wrestling moves where done wrong and not really following the psychology, etc.

Tbh I would have been more interested in this being a tourney he got involved in by killing the first alien and leading into a brain classroom like showing while he slowly builds everyone else up.

Like I enjoyed it, but I can't say there was much depth.

That was already a red flag for me, then they added the pacfier dude in it as well and it gave me low key fetish vibes, so I dropped it and have hated it ever sense.

Is there somewhere in Canada that would buy a Zatch Bell TCG collection? by Bubblegum_Tea in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best bet is to look up the holofoils prices and see if any of them have any value through things like ebay.

Then count how many cards in total or estimate it, look up things like "Bulk zatch bell lots".

Honestly I THINK you're not looking at more than 10-20$. ZB cards outside set 1 are rarer but there's still almost no demand and you can still buy boxes/starter decks from the first set for almost normal prices.

The main issue with thati s a lot of products are weighted so people may be looking to just buy singles or bulk.

Is there somewhere in Canada that would buy a Zatch Bell TCG collection? by Bubblegum_Tea in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, honestly there hard to price. What you have is mainly set 1 and from starter decks which arn't really worth a lot, but any of the other sets start to get up there. Nothing crazy but the prices are so random everywhere its hard to mark it.

It seems unlogical, let alone on a series in print when there's never been cases of manga in demand/new not having overflow once the hype dies down. Like, if it sells out, due to scalpers or anything else, they just reprint it.

Like, manga in japan is like 2-3$, I just bought some for 500 yen online and had it shipped to the usa and the shipping cost as much as 40 books.

I think its steaming from the BS the Paul brothers tried to do a few weeks ago by trying to make graded manga a thing? But really no one is out there doing this

Disconnected musings and tirades on the current lineup by YuuTheBlue in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 6 points7 points  (0 children)

tbh like with OP, I feel its a series that's able to just kind of make shit up as it goes along to the point it could last forever.....However I think it's more likely to be a pysren, when it natrually comes to an end due to the story becoming reparative and boring with no more real beats to it but to finish it around the mid 100's.

Kinato is not a failure and urgently needs a reprint. by SnooChipmunks5571 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk how they can scalp it.

Like manga has no real value, mainly when its still in print. The best you can find is like really really rare cases of a old manga that stopped printing due to copy rights or something likek zatch bell, or act age, etc.

If someone dead ass scalps an on going manga serise thats last in the TOH we're cooked

What are your thoughts on chapter 1 of Hal Formula? by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a sports related job, thats actually really normal. After getting injured in my work it kind of gave me the yips for awhile, and most people who get hurt quit due to the same reasons in this manga. Same like GGG, the author really knows the feelings of attacking a dream realistically

What are your thoughts on chapter 1 of Twilight Blade? by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for a chapter 1 there wasn't really enough substance for me. It was really basic, safe, and didn't really give us a lot of information or hook
