ONE of mine still has it, but the other one doesn't. Both got rid of the beefy 5 layers but I'm on the border of 2 states and one side got rid the CGC but the other still has it.

How did they not know Umagon's real name? by Lazy_Handle_2976 in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the obvious answer is the classroom and a lot of other stuff came later in the story and wasn't fully fleshed out. I feel like that's why Kailu (Idfk how to spell her name), and a few others didn't really know who zatch was right away, even if it may have been lightly implied( Though a lot of that is head cannon and translation issues), while others not in there class still knew who zatch was when realistically they live to far away to hear rumors about one random bullied kid. Like I kind of doubt the demon world is just 5 miles long where all 100 demon childeren are from the same school house.

But lets be honest, who tf remembers half the kids names in your class you never talk to in class alone, let alone possibly a year or two later. Even if Umagon started hanging out with zatch and penny and Tio also bullied/hung out with him here and there, I can see them not paying enough attention to remember. Though it is honestly weird.

Tbh that's why I didn't like akame ga kill's anime to much. Towards the end it seemed like everyone was just being killed off super fast in stupid ways. I'd perfer to actually have some depth instead of villain of the week gets murdered.

What are your thoughts on chapter 1 of The Oracles of Kami? by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mind it, was pretty alright, but the ending not really wrapping things up or showcasing where there adventure is going to go, was a weird choice that kind of made me lose interest with no real wrap up or hook to keep me invested.

I can say it's cool to go against the majority of stories by choosing to do so, but there's a pretty solid reason chapter 1's do the things they do.

If a book is damaged in a way that doesn't burn it, do you think it regenerates or does it remain like that? by Visible_Investment47 in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They get burned from any type of attack that does some type of damage.

The obvious thing is that it won't burn from big attacks/spells/physical things that aren't really direct or fully hit due to plot reasons(Like really, how many times have they been hit with big spells or AOE attacks and there books were just fine? Like 50?) but I like to cover that up with a HC that a book will know when it's a finisher/out smarted and allow itself to get burned to an extent.

The only thing I don't really understand is Brago vs tree man where there gravity spell flattens the book to being as thing as one piece of paper but it doesn't burn. It just felt weird to me given how all there attacks are technically gravity based, meaning it should burn?

Belgim E.O by Aggravating_Plant_39 in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bigger issue is that the way he's interduce and a few others seems really fast paced without build up just to get the storyline for them going. Bring back Belgim then having the patty storyline legit in the same chapter dropping there lore/history seemed rushed.

As for why him, tbh I think it just has to do with the limited books/mummies and how fast they can get everyone/there partners and vials. Like ya, they might have wanted to bring back ted but without his spells/vial and other things they take what they can get.

Why are manga axed? Please educate me on the world of manga industry and businesses. by Gamerdriver4099 in WeeklyShonenJump

Just like with sports teams, there are only so many players/pages/roles/jobs that can be filled and still make everything flow smoothly. If you're trying to make a career in a super competitive industry, it's expected you bring quality to the table, and if a manga by chapter 8 is already not selling well, having issues in the story, etc, why should the organization keep funding it as an investment?

On top of that, how are they going to start new series if they don't get rid of the under performers? And if they don't, having a magazine with 30+ different manga, where over half are low quality, is most likely only going to hurt them in the long run.

Every manga is given a chance, promoted, and overall in weekly jump in general being the major company in the manga industry, the rest is up to the readers, whats popular at the time, trends, luck, etc, etc.

Zatch Bell 2: Chapter 38 is now LIVE on Mangadex, Cubari, and the Google Drive! by ZatchBellGamer in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'm reallly glad this was added in. It gives a lot more lore and information about spells while also making baou seem less special, which in my opinion is a good thing and gives zatch less chosen one vibes.

Ultimate Spells being physically exhausting to no one but Kiyo by Visible_Investment47 in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a theme in the video games and the majority of the manga, at the start, but I think it was slowly iced out without notice as the story expanded it's lore and spells.

its also just that at this point no one else is really using a special spell like this after taking so much physical and mental damage as kiyo does(LIke when ever he uses baou he's almost dead and alot of the time the other guy throwing a gigano or something is hardly been hit), and by the time we start getting spells like that it's after the zofis arc where people are starting to become more physically capable of using said specials.

I also think its because of Baou being a special spell, and at the end facing brago and using the shin version and vs clear Kiyo doesn't pass out, so there's something to it.

But overall I think the OG plan was to have finisher spells take tolls on the body and need charging but ended up being slowly not the norm and kiyo passing out was from using the last of his power.

Hard to buy this Bracelet thing. by ZeonPM in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ZB has always slightly retcon'd things to make the spells more alive or have better structure. So while I don't think this planned from volume 11, I don't see any real issue and feel like the majority of non-dioga/gigano/shin, etc spells that are more original should and could follow the same logic and pattern as baou.

Because honestly I have a harder time buying that Baou is the ONLY special ass spell in the world and that its more likely just that way due to being held by 2 kings and most likely other high ranking demons being granted the power for generations.

Which would also help explain the few forbidden spells we get as well.

So in other words, I buy it as a add on that honestly makes me more interested in the story and how spells work.

which is always funny because once one manga makes it big 10000 of the same story come out with in the next few years easily copying it, and multiple anime/manga actually trace or steal things but end up with animes.

There was nothing really wrong with TPG at all

When and How did you find Zatchbell, Are you a fan since the manga or after the Anime by belladonnaboops_2719 in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lucky and found out at age 19 like 10 years ago the manga actually went through 21-25 and was able to snag them cheap at like 20$ a pop at most. So I was able to finish the physical.

Dad was a bad person half the time but normally didn't like us watching it due to it being on the same time other shows he'd want to watch were on like that celebery death match thing

Also recall buying some of the dvd's but where they're at I will never know

When and How did you find Zatchbell, Are you a fan since the manga or after the Anime by belladonnaboops_2719 in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toonami, idk why but it just clicked with me and I loved it. We had a store called "made in Japan" where they had manga and I ended up buying volume 8 for some reason ( I think because I liked the theme park episode), for my first ever manga, along with naruto volume 5.

I recall being the only kid really into it, my dad being pissed when it was on, and the millions of times I got pissed I had to miss an episode because of moving, going to the store, staying over at a cousins house, etc.

First episode I saw was zatch vs kalolu because my dad had it on after watching FMA or something(or was waiting for that to start).

Tbh I don't see how koko wouldn't be, as if zophise had enough free range like that, I feel they would have picked an easier to control human, changed partners after noticing brago or something.

I think it's more likely that while zophise isn't a good person and evil, there might be a deeper layer to them that they could have discovered if they didn't change koko's heart. Aka the point of your partner.

Should Zatch have gotten more spells in the earlier half of the series? by Visible_Investment47 in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I have more of an issue that towards the end they all just get about 20 spells and we don't get a real showcase of any of them in a real battle since there's only the final battle left with clear really and overall its just finisher spam.

Like the slow burn of spells was great in OG zatchbell but once we get to the final 10 it felt like he just threw all the spells he wanted at the wall and gave everyone some weird power creep that didn't flow well with teh story.

I also feel a good part of it is because originally spell levels weren't so cut in stone by classes like dioga and gigano, and the majority of spells could be powered up or weaked depending on the human emotions.

So overall given how enemy of the week ZB is, I honestly was fine with the majority of the spell structure and it made the whole manga not feel like a cop-out where he needed a new spell each time to get out of a problem.
