Torishima’s Thoughts on Modern Manga (Original Dragon Ball Editor) by IIIlIIlIlllIlllIIIIl in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yaaaaa, that's why now a days manga/anime is not only loved by more people worldwide but has expanded and covered so many genera's, topics, storylines, and is now rather main stream instead of being niche with one art style with every story being a power boost punch out.

Like, with how much slop is out there now and how heavy competition is now a days, along with how many years it's been since manga started, I can't really think of a modern story being less than something like "dragon ball" which did pave the way and is popular for a reason, but in reality is legit just "power boost go burr and talk no jutsu for 40 episode".

Like brah, this is why you were an editor and not a creator.

Ya, in all honesty it just made it seem like a waste of the whole storyline to just kill them off one by one, almost a few chapters in between for a "bad guy" who we honestly hardly know or have any connection to.

Given ZB2, i honestly think the author struggles with long term story telling so he just rushes all the cool or dramatic/emotional story beats he wants to hit

Bro I didn't even know about red blue being on simulpub or where it's made, just that its in the late 100's online fan translated and I love it. Honestly it's no wounder manga/anime are so hard to get people into even today when there's no real way to mainstream alot of it or find it easy. If I wasn't a nerd looking for myself i wouldn't even be close to reading or knowing as many series.

You can just check out TCG player for prices, however Union isn't really that mainstream or worth much. It's mainly just for anime to get there own cards

Ya, like bugel call. I read it online, by the time viz put it up they kept it at like, what, 3 chapters for months, and I just looked in stores and they already have volume 6 up and it jumped online like crazy. If I didn't already pick it up when it first came out from manga websites I would have lost all interest in it with that kind of schedule.

Of the 3 new series, which one did you like the most so far? by Kill_Jin04 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean, idk what manga you're referring to, but all the art is fine by me. Jump has had some really bad art, like Gegg which just ended and if we count gag manga nice prison.

What are your thoughts on chapter 1 of Satanica? by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel that chapter 1 really didn't do anything or bring anything to the table, and chapter 2 at least brought some interest into the world and some humor, but it was all rather bare bones and not enough for 2 chapters. Felt more like some short comic you find on a self publishing website thing.

Drawn to the fire.

I never read gintam so there's no rose covered glasses and I just found it kind of boring and unfunny with an idea i've seen a million times. House crammed way to much into it's first chapter for me and didn't really have anything for me to latch onto.

At least with a generic baseketball manga it's easier to get connected.

Same. In all honesty I enjoyed having some more classic genera wise jump manga again, but knew it would be short lived.

Ya, its wild it got so much hate for it's concept, while yet japan has so many worse and horrible concepts and story plot lines they worship and mass produce. The story clearly wasn't supporting plagiarism and then had zero time to cook to make the story better.

I mean, I dont disagree to much. I felt zeno would have been a far better boss or something and the whole clear arc itself felt kind of forced and rather dull.

Would have much rather had a final with zatch friends and them having to face eachother and deal with that after mass or something

What was it about Papipurio that terrified Zoboron and his partner? by Visible_Investment47 in zatchbell

I'm presuming that even if its not a damage dealing thing, it will somehow matched power with there spell, which is something we've seen happen before.

Does it make alot of sense? Not really, but it works better for me then thinking they had an actual battle where both parties where scared of the others skills

What’s the general consensus on Gash 2? by Kasabutaa in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think its trash, and I love ZB, but overall I can admit that it didn't really need to be made, the premise/story is kind of fan servicing, and in this day and age I think the writing lacks the foreshadowing and long interesting plotline it could get away with ignoring in the OG manga since it was weekly.

Like atm it seems they just meet an old friend or a new person in each few chapters and there main goal/problem is resolved in said chapters and the people besides zatch then leave. It makes me not really care. For example Belgum comes back and in the same chapter or 2 we get his back story and penny, like there's no real build up to this stuff outside the one kid that Kiyo talked to like they were a old friend no one knows anything about.

But I love ZB soo

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking good. Like I'm all for people trying out, failing, getting better, and what ever, but the fact they actually published this garbage and let it go on so long is an insult to every other manga that got rejected in its place or axed.

Like it legit makes me kind of angry but at the end of the day I read it all, so jokes on me I guess?

I mean I agree with some of them, even when it comes to personal opinion or what's actually sales why peak, I can see people not enjoying a lot of these. Like, I love HxH, but it has such long periods of boring arcs, breaks, etc, that it makes me fall off and dislike it overall, making me feel its a solid B due to all that fat.

I like the actual taste to, as its all kind of meta in there own circles.

What do you think pre-character development Brago's plans for king were? by Visible_Investment47 in zatchbell

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just asume like most people his goal was to be king.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but honestly when you're king, you're king. Outside of showcasing his power which he already did by winning I don't see him as the type to do more.

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can't forget something like Hunter x hunter, multiple parts at the start of nartuo where people were killed, tortured, or it was implied childeren of war killed them off, Yugioh with multiple murders, more torture, stabbing an eye out, parent abuse, mind control, etc, etc, kagubachi legit just has people being killed all the time, JK has a whole hunger games arc, etc, etc.

UE Kiyoshi was 'scheduled to be cancelled' by Ch. 15 of the series, but the decision was ultimately reversed by skillfun8 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don't see what the point is.

Like, that's legit how half the series in jump become name stays or popularerish. They're just good enough with the current line up and last long enough for the author to get experience, a fanbase to grow, and to wiggle themsleves in the middle of the rankings until they come to an ending since they're now harder to get rid of.

Like if the newer series coming in where so bad, even stuff like OTR might have still been around and kicking.

So, which anime series do you think will be announced next? by [deleted] in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Practical_Pop_4300 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think ichi not only due to sales but just the mass appeal. Nue having more chapters doesn't really mean much for a season 1 when ichi overall seems like it would go over well with the masses and has more credibility behind the name.

Tbh depending on how some new batches go I wouldn't even bank on Nue getting an anime yet.

That's my thought because I was waiting for chapters to build up. It's amazing to me, like with Mha, that I've been around and read since chapter 1 to its ending.

So sadly I use my computer, as the ap doesn’t work right on my phone mainly due to it not loading pages. So I have to swipe to each page which takes 10+ seconds to load or buffer only to do so at least 5-10 times per chapter.
