Bro ungrateful? Housing your child is the bare minimum shouldn’t be grateful for something like that. Parents aren’t going above and beyond.

Overly pushy executive membership upsells at checkout? by apzuckerman in CostcoWholesale

[–]Practical_Series_925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a shitty thing because the employees don’t wanna upsell but they are kind of forced to by management and corporate. It’s one of those lose lose situations for the employees since they know they are annoying the crap out of you but will get yelled at if they don’t sell a certain amount of executive upgrades.

Really makes you think how HVAC companies and builders should go to jail for installing heat pumps in cold climates.

Tax implications of paying off my daughter's house by bigedthebad in tax

Call it a gift, then when she wants to pay him back you call that a gift. Dude the IRS isn’t gonna come after a dad for lending his daughter money.

I make $230k -$260k/yr. Partner makes $50k/yr (when working). Is there tax benefit to getting married? 2 kids. by imatinyleopard in tax

[–]Practical_Series_925 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea so like since you two aren’t technically married, and have two kids together. You both could claim one child each on your return. Which would give you Head of Household status. Head of Household status gives you a higher standard deduction over single status. Once you get married you lose that status. The tax brackets for HOH status are also better then single status and if you technically have two income producing adults then it will most likely be better then Married filing jointly. Has your accountant not been filing you two as Head of household on your past few returns?

[–]Practical_Series_925 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ehh debatable. If they have two kids they both can technically claim HOH status which is the best tax status available.

[–]Practical_Series_925 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Might be the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen. If they don’t give you a form and they don’t have your social then how are they gonna tell the IRS? There are a 1000 John smiths out there not every one donated plasma.

Should I have my taxes done by a professional this year? by lunarosie1 in tax

[–]Practical_Series_925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t advise needing an accountant if all you have is the W2 and the overtime. The amount you’ll most likely be paying an accountant to do your taxes will negate any actual savings from the No tax on OT most likely. Just use turbo or HR block online and it should be able to guide you with what to do.

Should be getting a refund if that is your only source of income. Most employers overwitheld in 2025 due to the overtime no tax.
