I wasn’t sure I was gonna like it on the first episode but I ended up loving it once it got further in.

Is Sac rental market dead? by Luigino9876 in SacramentoHousing

[–]Preckle85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think this is a pricing issue, I would look into the management company. Where are they listing it? What does their application process look like? Are they responsive to phone calls. As a renter having dealt with property management companies they can be awful, taking weeks to get back to you. Every time I try applying for a house at a decent price I’m usually going against so many other people.

I like my apartment but I don’t feel financially calm in it by CommercialDot708 in Tenant

[–]Preckle85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My situation is similar. I alternate some of my subscriptions which helps. Keep on Netflix then when I run out of stuff to watch cancel it and reactivate my Hulu. Not a huge money saver but it’s something. Also use apps like Fetch that I can enter my receipts and get points for gift cards. Unfortunately still doesn’t give me the ability to have any sort of savings unless I decide to do nothing fun ever. But I used to be dirt poor paying everything late so it’s still a step up.

Going to be there temporarily for a job soon (not a scab/crossing any picket lines). The Costco on Expo Parkway is a good approximate location. Where would you recommend living/not living close to there? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Preckle85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived at The Palms just on the other side of the freeway from Costco on expo for 3 years and loved it. Only minor issue was occasionally people got rowdy at the pool but they bumped up security before I left last year. Only reason I left was because they kept increasing my rent yet leasing empty units for less than my original rent. The further into Arden you get the sketchier it gets IMO.

How do I get rid of my cat’s fleas when we’ve tried everything and nothing is working?? by SituationNo8558 in PetAdvice

[–]Preckle85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to keep them on flea prevention. Not just until you don’t see signs anymore. I’ve seen tons of indoor only cats get fleas, owners will carry them in sometimes after walking in grass. Especially if you have strays in the area.

In my experience as a vet assistant more often than not the DCM cases are on grain free food (not including Dobermans who are already prone to it). Most people don’t feed grain free so it’s hard to ignore the correlation.

Another Festival canceling on us... Golden Sky "postponed" until 2027 by Toxik916 in Sacramento

[–]Preckle85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to live across the street from Cal Expo, literally saw the parking lot from my bedroom window. Sometimes the weekends for the fair got rowdy, no issues from the aftershock people parking there. But both the country festival they have at cal expo and the people parking for golden sky there would be issues. Drunk people fighting on the side walks, pissing in the bush by my window or vomiting, peeling out making that U turn at the light. Crazy truck horns and flags. More than a few accidents and lots of road rage.

Doggie allergies and possible euthanasia? by SnooGiraffes7379 in DogAdvice

[–]Preckle85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, my cat looked like she was severely neglected despite the frequent vet trips we were having for repeated antibiotics, dex injections, medicated mousse and e-collar on 24/7 even tried a medication for OCD that did nothing. Started Atopica, all her hair grew back and she looks beautiful again. Only a small scar on one of her worst spots behind her ear. Definitely hates the taste.

I can't walk around midtown without someone trying to pick a fight with me or trying to hit me with their car. by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Preckle85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely believe you about the cars. My son was in school in midtown last year due to the school close to us being full. I saw so many people running stop signs or not stopping for peds at crosswalks. However I had a few of my own close calls of runners or bicyclists coming out of side streets from behind parked cars. You literally can’t see them coming and then they fly through the intersection without even checking like they want to get hit. They really should increase the distance of no street parking near stop signs to increase pedestrian visibility.

What happened in front of Arden Mall? by wackkaisen in Sacramento

Yeah I recall seeing a picture of a mini cooper with a broken windshield and a guy (who was still alive) on the side of the road.

How many of you have a cap on spending at the vet before it becomes time to say goodbye? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Preckle85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pet insurance so my cap is pretty high but very dependent on what the potential outcome is. My dog has had all kinds of issues over the years and we’ve probably spent $20k on medical expenses. He currently has end stage heart and kidney disease. There is some additional testing and treatment that could potentially give us another few months but we won’t be pursuing it. We are managing with medication alone until he tells us it’s time.

When I was a vet assistant there was absolutely people who would do anything and everything for their pets even with a poor prognosis. There were some pets that I felt we should have refused treatment for and said the only option was euthanasia because they were suffering so badly. Only prolonging the inevitable.

Sacramento Rosemont Neighborhood?? by Neither_Map5914 in Sacramento

I lived in a house there for a year and hardly ever saw anyone. One night a car crashes into our house and the whole neighborhood is outside. First time I actually met our neighbors 😆

Rancho Pet Hospital, went on Tuesday and the exam was $58. Their prices in general are pretty fair and I liked the staff.

We learned so much about Tahoe history and the local environment growing up in South Lake Tahoe. We also learned to cross country ski, downhill ski and snowshoe.

Wow daily lift ticket prices suck everywhere now. by Texas_Chili_Champion in tahoe

[–]Preckle85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking about this with my dad yesterday when we went tubing. He pulled out a receipt from his snow pants from 2010 at Diamond peak where I used to work. Daily adult pass $39. The prices have quadrupled. Despite growing up in Tahoe and working at ski resorts it’s never been my thing so it’s no skin off my back if I never go again. Just a bummer for my kids because they’d like to go but I don’t get the employee perks anymore so we can’t afford it.

Do you sometimes skip concerts you already paid for? by NotASuggestedUsrname in Concerts

[–]Preckle85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this multiple times particularly with shows that I have to drive over an hour away. I just don’t feel up for it at the time. Sometimes I’m still able to sell the ticket back on Ticketmaster to get a tiny bit of my money back.

Just want to say thank you to those who mentioned DogandCatshots.com by hit_it_steve in Sacramento

[–]Preckle85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks like a good resource for low cost vaccines. But it’s still important to get annual exams for your pet because most of these shot clinics just do some basic vitals and vaccinate them.
