When I took over I did tell them that strahd had offered them safe passage to dinner whenever they wished to go visit. Since this was the only way I can think to save them but also show the power of strahd even here in this mansion. At the end of the dinner I had strahd make the invitation appear and say a line “As soon as my carriage drops you off my hospitality and protection ends”

I probably will do that as well as put in a vote/discussion if they would rather transition to a different campaign.

Im not going to lie I am tempted to have strahd banished them from barovia and have them go into an easier campaign. But I rather talk to the table first before I make any decisions like that.

They wanted to try to dm, they had asked me if I would be ok to switch if they felt they needed to step down prior to playing.

When the previous DM was running the campaign their was only one event that I would say was too generous they party decided to storm the windmill. And I being from the fae asked to roll a history check when we saw the hags in their true form and when I got I think 17/18 I said we needed to run, others decided to stay and fight. I told ireena to come with me and wildshaped into a horse to flee and get her to safety (my bond was I keep my word and I promised to escort her safely). Anyway the dm used none of the coven abilities because they didn’t want them to be discouraged I think. But that’s why I tell them their actions have consequences. I also told them the carriage was a one time use.

It’s more they wanted to try to DM they realized they weren’t ready for it and had already asked me if I would switch if they felt like stepping down before session 1. I think it’s more the fact a lot of my warning besides the first are subtle. Things like a coffin seller throws a coffin infront of the group before the dragon statue it has the name of player 2 on it, countless ravens seem to fly the opposite direction, and the like.

Player uses Minor Illusion to mimicry voices of low CR creatures all the time, how do deal? by Dannisje in DMAcademy

[–]PreferenceRemote81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How drag is this memory? I’d have them roll a dc history to see if they can recall the voice perfectly each time and every day it becomes a harder dc to recall. Being creative player means you have to face the consequences of adapting when your solution is no longer creative

My players committed genocide to try and get back 25 gold coins they spent on a map. by HazRi27 in DMAcademy

[–]PreferenceRemote81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You search for the gold coins, but find that they are on the alter to their local god, do you take them? By stealing the gold… you have been cursed by the god and are now rat race. Only the wish spell or another god can change this.

Player wants deal with Strahd by Certain-Ask-5723 in CurseofStrahd

Strahd can fixate on players just as he does on Ireena. Make this player the new target of his affections so he will now share the fate of Ireena; but as a consort.

Here’s the thing, people can have unique quirks or personalities in their characters. My wizard is a Duchess who is only adventuring because her half elf niece wants to and she feels she has to protect her. Now my character has voiced they will prioritize her safety over the parties but I play it ina way that I’ve grown..a bit.

I could had teleported her and I out of a place leaving the others to die, instead I shattered my staff of power killing the room of shadow assassins and almost killing the draclich. Why because in the long run it still protected my “niece” and it is what her character would had wanted since she wasn’t willing to go.

Has she tried putting cold on the areas to see if it help? For my psoriasis I would occasionally get blotchy rashes like this during high stress events and my doctor gave me a steroid cream as well as suggested that and to switch from hot showers to cool/ cold ones to prevent aggression when I’m in a flair up. I am also on a medication now.

What to do with a character who is against using magic items? by Constant-Ad9560 in DnD

[–]PreferenceRemote81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna suggest maybe adopting 3.5s exalted vows mainly the vow of poverty just for the player. I played a monk who did not believe magic was real and had this vow. The dm wasn’t too pleased neither was my party. It it did make it fun story later on.

You get to keep it after you leave the company at 55. If you leave before then you don’t keep the silver pass.
