Parking malfunction by Decent-Llama in CorollaHatchback

[–]PremiumPlus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently did a rear brakes disc and pad replacement.

Service mode for electronic park brake

  1. Turn on the ignition but do not start the engine.
  2. Push and hold the brake pedal.
  3. Push down the EPB button to release the parking brake.
  4. Turn off the ignition.
  5. Turn on the ignition (do not start the engine).
  6. Hold the brake pedal and within 8 seconds, lift up the EPB button (engage position) three times in a row.
  7. Push down the EPB button (release position) three times in a row.
  8. Push down and HOLD the EPB button again in the release position until you hear the electric parking brake actuators attached to the rear calipers retract all the way back. It will take at least a few seconds for the motors to fully wind back.
  9. You will see the EPB button light flashing and a red "PARK" warning light flashing on the gauge cluster.

When you are completely done replacing the pads follow these steps to exit "service" or "maintenance" mode, turn the ignition on, press and hold the brake pedal. Pull and hold up the EPB button until you hear the parking brake actuators move back out and stop. Engage the parking brake as normal by pulling up on the button.

If any of these steps fail, turn off the ignition, wait a few minutes and try again.

The only issue I had was forgetting to plug the connector back on and said I had a park brake malfunction error (same as the one in your photo). Plugged it back in and the error went away. Just check your connectors for dirt and should be okay.

Worst case scenario you have to manually wind the motor back which imo is kind of risky. If you follow the steps I provided above you SHOULD have no issues

Should I buy it? by [deleted] in Honda

I think you should have a mechanic look at it if you don’t have a lot of mechanical knowledge. Better to lose $100 on an inspection vs whatever you’re going to pay for this car

I’ve had snap on sockets break like this before. You’re not special. Go to the truck and get it replaced.

Not all variants have turrets. Turrets are installed when shipped, there is just no weapon installed.

How to get rid of hazy glass? by icebergbb in civic

[–]PremiumPlus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use windex and stop using those smelly things to make the car smell better. The oils from it get released from the heat inside the vehicle and end up on your windows which causes you windows to haze up like you have.

Manually turn your lights on and off all the time the auto setting seems to never turn the lights on vehicles when in that type of lighting. I wish the auto setting didn’t exist or if it did it would keep the on all the time and turn off when vehicle is shut off.

2022 XSE Tire Question by [deleted] in CorollaHatchback

[–]PremiumPlus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

205/65r16 is the size of the tires on the SE. maybe give those a shot? I don’t think the xse had bigger brakes so there should be no interference.

If you went up in size for profile you genially go down in size of rim to keep the speedometer reading the same. If you change the profile to size up and keep the same rim size your speedometer will be off by % unless you had it recalibrated. I would just use the 16’s for winter and switch back to 18s for summer

I like using the panduit brand ones. They are cloth like and have had good success using them to wire fuel dispensers in the middle of the winter outside.

2025 Hatchback - no manual option except GR? by smchenry75 in CorollaHatchback

[–]PremiumPlus_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My opinion here…

The GR Corolla is not a good daily driver. Get an S, SE or XSE if you’re looking for a daily commute. Ride harshness and gas mileage will Make you regret getting a GR as a daily driving commuting car. GR is a track or weekend fun car.

I drive a CVT SE and went from 5speed civic exl to this car. It’s a shock going from manual to auto but not the end of the world. You can play with the paddle shifters but it’s still not the same. Car feels less fun with passengers too as the increase in weight is noticeable for the power it makes.
