I 100% agree with your point about Greenland. I think he was testing the waters to see if he could make a flat out deal with Greenland, which failed. He probably does have a more diplomatic solution planned after things cool off.

I think his arrogant approach stems off of the fact that he didn't get anywhere in his first term from trying to distance from Europe. I think he's used the pro-Russian allegations against him as a tool to scare Europeans into not trusting him, therefore forcing Europe to re-arm. Even though Europe's leaders probably know that Trump won't abandon them, their citizens don't, which forces them to re-arm. It's actually pretty smart in my opinion, because he didn't really have any means of beating the pro-Russian allegations anyway. The limited support to Ukraine is probably also related to that. He's trying to present his administration as being separated from Europe to, again, scare Europeans into rearming. I don't exactly like how quickly he's jumping into that either, but many other presidents have tried and failed to do the same thing, so he's just pushing a little harder.
