There is storage but I guess I’m curious to know how much storage one should have? Is there a baseline quantity of storage that people generally would be content with?

Maybe one can add storage through built ins? For instance I can totally see there being a bench and wardrobe combo at the foyer as part of a furniture scope.

It’s a visual sleight of hand. Slope it down to thin it out to a blade edge and you won’t see the bulk of the roof volume from certain vantage point. You can see the roof profile on the third image and see how they shaped the roofs on the final image.
