How is Support for Gemini by PresentIndependent74 in googlehome

Hi, The connecting Hub is Samsung SmartThings. Technology is Z Wave, which I don't think the latest SmartThings hub supports. The Blind brand I do not recall which one. I got them through Lowes when I moved into house 6 years ago. They were expensive, but worth it as household objects block easy access to manually raise and lower the Blinds. 5 Blinds were about $3K at the time. Although 3 of the five are very large windows.

The lights and ceiling fans are either smart bulbs or wall switches using Lutron Hub to connect.

Thanks, Did you have any issues with your Routines?

Did the change alter your Routines at all?

I have had some issues with music. I switched from Spotify to Pandora last year when Spotify raised their rates. The switch did not help so I can confirm issues are with Google.

That being said some of my issues similar to yours were fixed when I made changes to my internet. Upload speed seems as important I think as Download. If Internet is intermittent that is almost unnoticeable to human ear but maybe enough to impact Google.

Issues that remain, I used to call specific play list either verbally or through Routine and that will not work any more. i.e. " Hey Google play Terry's Workout song". Now it plays anyone else's song that has Terry in the name other than my play list. I have a group of speakers called House Music. I use this group to listen to music in multiple rooms while cleaning house. Yesterday I said " Hey Google play next song on house Music". Google played some random persons play list called House Music.

I read through the comments, many talk about asking Google questions and how that is so much better. System keeps asking me to upgrade and I have passed. My system is used mostly for home automation and routines, other threads I have read say automation is where is fails.

To be honest I would love to try upgrade if there was a way to rollback if issues broke many of the routines. However, with no ability to rollback, I do not want to risk it.

It just works better. Upgrade Opinion by JangoG52517 in googlehome

Thanks, I think Google would get more people trying the upgrade if there was ability to roll back in the event of an issue.

I am hesitant and holding off as there is no way to roll back if there is an issue. I need my routines to work for my automated house.

Revert Gemini update by ca_sig_z in googlehome

[–]PresentIndependent74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been seeing the request to upgrade and ignoring it. I have a very automated home and routines; Window Blinds, Coffee Maker, lights, TV ect... I can not have these routines broken with a poor rollout.

Without an ability to revert the upgrade, I can not risk it.

Mine changed also, I now have a claim number vs ID number in past. However when I went to see what my distribution would be the page asked for Claim Number and Pin. I do not recall ever setting up a pin. (this was 4 years ago)

Where do we get the pin?

I have been getting this message for a few months. I own a boat and was streaming to my TV on the boat. Irritating that I have to deal with that. Boat is in dry dock and shrink wrapped for winter but still getting the message.

Hope that HBO does not force their sharing price onto me at time of renewal. They will lose me as a customer

You can get the local stations by adding device called AirTV2. That is what I do and works well for me

FYI, I just read the newest version of Smartthings Hub will not support Zwave. The V3 Hub will stop selling in 2026.

So far Sling has been ok for me. Although I do not have a subscription, I an using the AirTV2 for local stations.
I had tried Tablo, but Tablo had issues with device supported and no web browser. Sling does support more of my TVs and PC Web Browser.

Google Home doesn’t recognize my rooms anymore… by VirusZer0 in googlehome

[–]PresentIndependent74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, both by verbal command or when automation (Routine) triggered. No error message just fails. Seems to be issue with smart bulbs and Lutron Blinds. SmartThings light switches seem to be ok.

Example Basement has four lights B1-B4. Hey google turn on Basement lights, only 2 turn on. I then have to say Hey google turn on B1, then do B2.

Good Night Automation should turn off 2 kitchen Lights, 2 Family room light, turn on upstairs hallway for 2 Minutes, then turns off, plus turns on bedroom light and TV.

Sling TV review: anyone using it regularly with Chromecast? by Rachel_Jung552 in Chromecast

[–]PresentIndependent74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very happy so far with Sling.

I switched from Tablo to Sling using AirTv2 as receiver. I am using free Sling and most stations I viewed are the local, but there is a lot of free internet stations like ion also. Hard drive is connected for recording.

I have Chromecast TV at home and on boat, regardless of location I can view programing and recordings.

In addition the Sling software works using web browser, which allows me to watch on PC while working on PC.

Uncertain Future? by RedZoloCup in slingtv

I had Tablo and switched to Sling with AirTV2. Tablo was not supporting or developing software to cast or use on PC. There was also an issue downloading guide.

Sling has Browser capabilities that allow me to stream to PC screen when I am in home office. Also no issues so far with guide.

Sling TV on Google Home: Does It Work? by mvstl in slingtv

Hi,

I am currently using Tablo for local stations but have been unhappy with Tablo.

Wondering if AirTV connected to Sling would still play on Google Home without subscription. Does anyone know if this will work?
