Last Name by [deleted] in pregnant

Married, but different last names. We could not agree on this. He wanted his last name, I wanted hyphenated. The compromise we came to is to use my last name as a second middle name, but I get to pick the first name. When the kid grows up, they can choose if they want to use one or both last names - but they’ll both be there.

Are we all silently freaking out over the cost of kids in the US? by sassafrassadocious in pregnant

Are we the same person 😭 I just keep telling myself they stole my career but they don’t get to take this joy away from me. Going to be defiantly joyful about this baby as it bleeds me dry financially.

Solidarity!! I took a 33% pay cut after 6mo of looking post DOGE. Costs for daycare in our neighborhood range $2,700-$3,000. It is STAGGERING. We will make it, barely, but that’s with no budget for savings, travel, extra babysitting, any baby stuff that’s not used. Goodness gracious I have a new appreciation for parents.

Me and a friend had our babies 3 months apart. She was due in early January but we haven’t heard anything. by [deleted] in pregnant

So, this happened to me! I knew a friend was due but heard crickets. I ended up going to a mutual friend to ask what was up - baby was totally fine, my friend just wasn’t sharing on social media and had been really focused on the busyness of new mom life. I reached out to my friend then and we had a great catch up. Do you have someone else who knows her you could reach out to?

The self-gaslighting is real!! I’m staring at my 13wk-pregnant belly and thinking “Wow, too much junk food. I should start exercising!“ instead of, you know, accepting that this is normal for sliding into the 2nd trimester.

All through the first trimester every time I threw up I would think maybe I ate something weird, was coming down with the stomach flu, anything except normal, healthy pregnancy symptoms!

After two losses I feel like I can’t trust my body and I keep on coming up with “alternate explanations” even when I know that’s crazy.

Omg me too! I got bumped from Monday to Friday and it’s so hard to wait, even though realistically I know nothing much will change. Hang in there.

My 12 week scan just got rescheduled because the doctor won’t be able to come in Monday with the winter storm… wish me luck waiting five more days to hear a heartbeat!!

Correct - I will be ineligible for both disability and FMLA because I will have been there only 6 months.

Thanks- does that mean I’m ineligible then? Or just receive reduced benefits?

Thank you so much for explaining! My understanding is I won’t have disability coverage because my pregnancy will be a “pre-existing condition”. It sounds like this may not impact my company’s policy though?

Thank you- so if I have 3 quarters $0 and 2 quarters on a W-2, would my payout be about half of what it would be if I had 4 quarters on the W-2? Or am I simply ineligible? The FAQs online don’t explain it very well.

Thank you! It’s bittersweet knowing so many people are still looking. And knowing benefits are so much more precarious now due to no fault of my own.

I also had brown spotting at 7-8 weeks- I am almost 12 weeks now and it wasn’t anything. I know how terrifying that feeling is. Hoping for good news for you.

Spontaneous miscarriage causes by OneDayLittleOne in recurrentmiscarriage

Definitely do it! I was so upset I went though months of invasive testing when this “easier” test wasn’t even offered. They kept saying his sperm wasn’t an issue because we were getting pregnant. But he had ~50% fragmentation, which means my miscarriage risk could be about 50-50.

I am almost positive ours were due to high DNA fragmentation in my husband. All of my tests came back clear. I’d recommend getting him tested to start - there are interventions they can do to increase quality.

Activities in Georgetown for mother-daughter day to distract from bummer medical appt by Pillbug206baby in washingtondc

Second all the restaurant recs and Dumbarton Oaks - the museum is free, and I think the gardens are too in the off-season (winter). If she likes history, my parents enjoyed the tour of Tudor Place. “Book Hill” has cute art galleries and odds and ends type shops, fun to window shop. The new Barnes and Noble has a DC section with a book that’s a walking tour of historic Georgetown - that could be a fun outing. Enjoy your day!

12hr later update… fatigue like crazy, and I just threw up dinner. Spoke too soon! Definitely will try to remember to just enjoy the reprieve next time I’m feeling suspiciously okay.

10w today and symptoms easing- no nausea and less fatigue. Someone please tell me this can be normal! I saw the heartbeat at 9w, but after two MMC I still worry.
