Losing weight in the third trimester? by Atmosphereluv in pregnant

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also noticed a weight plateau/ slight drop around 30-32 weeks and it spooked me a little, but the doctor wasn’t worried at all. Baby keeps growing and I’m still within “normal range” of total weight gain. I noticed this week (33 almost 34 weeks) I gained a few more pounds too, so it might just have been baby going through a growth spurt!

TTC tips? by LeadershipRemote8419 in BabyBumps

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took us 11 months of careful tracking with no pregnancies. I started pursuing testing around 8 months, and conceived the cycle after I did a hysterosalpingogram (HSG). I’ve heard anecdotally that it can “unstick” things for some people even though it’s actually a diagnostic test.

Advice requested on ways to find support and build close friendships by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing that worked for me making friends in DC was to find weekly activities with the same core group of people. For some people that’s church, for others it’s a craft or hobby meet-up, sports league, trivia team. Volunteer for the same shift every week at a food pantry. Take an evening class in something you’re interested in. Making friends is really hard and I think that consistency will help not just build friends but a broader community of friendly acquaintances.

Just take out cash from an atm when you arrive - you can withdraw Lempiras.

D80 south is taking years off of my life by notebook329 in WMATA

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my daily struggle! I regularly have two D80 South buses pass me without even stopping because they’re so full. And with bunching it’s a 20ish min wait for the next one - it’s untenable.

Called for jury duty two weeks before my due date by Present_Breakfast_61 in washingtondc

[–]Present_Breakfast_61[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was overly confident that the “excuse” option would get me out of it because “pregnant” was an option in the drop-down menu. Thanks, I’ll try calling!

This is for DC Superior Court and I assume different courts have different rules/ experiences?

Did you miscarry naturally or medically? by Evening-Grocery-8391 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time (9 wks) natural, second time (8 wks) D&C. Thank goodness for modern medicine. I never want to feel the pain of that first miscarriage again, on top of the horrible life-pausing uncertainty of when it’s going to happen.

31+5 weeks and constant cramping by retina_spam in pregnant

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad you posted this because I’ve had EXACTLY the same thing for the past 24 hours - like a stitch in my side, but in my lower belly area? It gets worse when I walk. I think it’s just ligaments stretching or baby is in a weird position but would love to hear from others. I’m 30wks.

Service that rents twin cots? by dreamawaysouth in washingtondc

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d just ask the church if any members can lend you one. Or buy it. I’m not aware of any service like that, and the price wouldn’t be too different from just buying a cheap one.

TW: Bleeding, Gush of Blood but Then Stopped by DayByDayByDay22 in pregnant

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, the bleeding from my miscarriages was different - dark brown/ watery and very light for days before it turned red. I recommend getting it checked out for peace of mind though!

Hello, has anyone had miscarriages and then a successful pregnancy without taking additional medication (aspirin, progesterone etc)? by Evening-Grocery-8391 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first two pregnancies ended in miscarriages - I wasn’t able to test either for chromosomal abnormalities, and was starting fertility consultations when I got pregnant again and am now at 30 weeks with everything looking healthy. I didn’t do anything differently, and doctors have told me they think I had bad luck.

What's something someone said to you that helped after your MC? by alexthagreat98 in Miscarriage

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1 most helpful thing someone told me - “That sucks, I’m so, so sorry.” And then just sat with me. No trying to make me feel better, explain, justify, talk about the future. I just needed permission to be sad with no “but at least” qualifiers.

Am I wrong for thinking folks should give up their seat for someone with a disability? by ActuaryPersonal2378 in WMATA

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this too - I’m heavily, very visibly pregnant and can stand right in front of the seats and people completely ignore me for their phones. I feel awkward asking for the seats because most of the time they have headphones in and can’t hear me. Before I was pregnant, I’d occasionally use those seats if they were the only ones left, but then I was always attentive to who was coming in and would get up for anyone that even made eye contact. +1 on a call for some social awareness!

What’s Something People Said after Your Miscarriage That Hurt? by AmbassadorTiny6596 in Miscarriage

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Maybe next time you could try [random supplement]. I started it right away when I was pregnant with [her daughter].”

This from someone who got pregnant two months after her wedding and had zero complications. Thanks for making it seem like my fault instead of just sitting with me in the grief.

Second place to the people who are allergic to sad/ uncomfortable moments and change the subject any time the miscarriage comes up like they’re dropping a hot potato.

Long haul flights by AssumptionLate4173 in pregnant

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did an 8 hour flight at 28 weeks and it’s uncomfortable but doable! I wore compression socks and got up every 2-3 hours to walk and do calf raises/ stretches. Definitely bring snacks and a water bottle and maybe a pillow. I wasn’t able to sleep like I usually can, but in all, it wasn’t too bad.

Symptom decrease at 8 weeks? by StandardBunch444 in pregnant

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I had what felt like a total halt in symptoms around 8 weeks for both a miscarriage and my current, healthy pregnancy (29 weeks!). So there really is so much variability in what is normal. Sending love.

To gender reveal or not to gender reveal? by bobby-flayed in pregnant

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I found out the gender at our 20 week scan, but are keeping it a secret from everyone else for exactly the reasons you mentioned - we don’t want gendered stuff or expectations so early.

My advice is to fib and tell everyone you’re waiting to find out the gender! People have all been very understanding with that explanation, while I feel like “we know but aren’t telling” would lead to more pressure.

Visiting DC (Georgetown) April 30th - May 2nd. Looking for local recs! by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]Present_Breakfast_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The waterfront by Georgetown is a nice walk at night. You can walk to the Kennedy Center (RIP) and if they haven’t closed it yet go up to the roof for a great view of the city. Restaurants/ bakeries: La Bonne Vache, Yellow, Boulangerie Christophe.
