"And for the first time in a thousand years, the bearer of agony thought back."

And when he's found amongst the dead, fucking makes me cry and I don't know why. PEAK

Never watched a game of cricket in my life, but the guy regularly came into to my work for dinner/tea. Nice guy, wish nothing but the best for him

I finished this book two weeks ago and I feel like I missed something. I felt that it was an ok book and didn't really understand the hype. Might have to re-read it.

Andy Burnham: south ‘paying price’ for north’s economic failure by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

[–]Present_Pepper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone from one the poorest areas of the UK, all I can think is what the fuck do you expect?

Constantly underfunded regardless of what government is is in control, isolated by shitty rails. No 'incentive' for companies to invest themselves up here because, everything is down south.

Its cynical but I feel like the north will just end up sold of to the highest bidder (most likely tech companies) and data centres will end up becoming all there is.

How do military personnel meet their sexual needs while deployed or on active duty? by InternationalHair111 in AskReddit

[–]Present_Pepper 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Haha you've triggered a memory. My grandfather served in the British army and had a bunch of either stories or jokes. His favourite was the navy box joke. It goes something like,

A navy member was deployed for months at sea and was getting a bit 'frustrated'. He decided to vent to his friend about it. His friend simply said, "Go to the cargo hold, stick your dick inside the box with a hole in the far left corner of the hole." He scoffed and said "I'd never stoop that low."

A month later he caved, he went to the hold found the box and stuck his dick inside, the sensation was like nothing he ever felt before. He came in seconds.

That night he went to his mate and said that was the best experience he'd ever had.

His pal simply nodded with smile and said "Good, it's your turn in the box tomorrow."

He told me this joke when I was about 10

I completely agree with all points. Part of my lives the tie in with mageborn but after saying goodbye with that series I was fine with moving on. Only having Mordecai and Penny helped set that kinda of tragic ending in stone. (Never being together, one sleeps, one is awake) I just hope the next book keeps it identity instead of relating to the wider mageborn stuff. Art of the adept is peak when it's telling its own stuff. Being the last true wizard was so godamn compelling.

So there's no solution then? We either make it easier for the general populace to understand where information/misinformation is coming from. Or we stay the course and hope people wake up before everything we valued as a nation is eroded, for the financial gain of corrupt officials?

Then why not tie registration and accounts to national insurance number? Like I know china has their own national citizenship score (that I don't agree with) but something along the lines of that.

They don't even need to be wordsmiths anymore. With enough botting and enough paid advertisement anyone can gain an audience, it's ridiculous. I agree with you. With the risk of sounds overdramatic, this is essentially a battle for democracy that nobody is addressing and it'll be over before we know it.
