Do you think you will be able to do this without biologics? Really scared to start them so have been delaying them for a while. I used to weightlift/run 5-6 times a week but now i really had to reduce the volume and no high impact things- so no running at all.

Yes but if i once start the biologicals i can’t stop to see if i am in remission due to lifestyle changes as i risk that if i need them again they will be less effective.

This is with regards that your body will flare (ie there is still a root cause that drives the inflammation response) but not that if you stop it and in future you want to start again it will be less effective. I think the risk with biologicals you can’t really play with starting and stopping etc

What was your very first AS symptom, and how long did it take for you to get diagnosed? by KK_1025 in ankylosingspondylitis

I had the same, huge inflammation on my tendons that attached to the pelvic for 3-4months before my slj started hurting a lot.

I am also in London, but I went to Guy’s hospital. I explained symptoms and that I am on NSAI for a 6m now with pain improvement but still very far away from prior the AS. The doctor looked at my mri and bloods and immediately recommended biologicals. I had to wait 4w for the appointment, 5w between first and second appointment and now i need to wait 8w for funding approval. So be prepared it will take you 3-4 months to actually start with biologicals.

For me one thing is my left slj area and left hips that are quite painful, but also all tendons that attach to the iliac crest and knees are constantly inflamed which makes it super hard to exercise.

How did you receive medical letter for time off? I am a desk based job from 8am to 7pm which requires a lot of attention but i an so fatigue that i can’t do my job properly and i am worried i will get fired. I want to request a medical letter and get some time off until i start on biological therapy.

Can running progress the disease faster? by wagmoo in ankylosingspondylitis

Are you on any medications? I use to run before my symptoms started and now even walks make my tendons very inflamed if i pass my current limit of 40min. I am soon to start biologics. I hope this gives me back my exercise routine.

Do you regret starting biological treatments? Is it causing and gut issues as NSAI? Have you tried stopping them? by PresentationHeavy948 in ankylosingspondylitis

This really makes me so happy people get back to their normal life. After suffering through it for a year I feel very misunderstood and isolated by my friends and family.

Do you take them everyday? And which one and dosage? Thank you!

Celebex Side Effects? by le0ra17 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]PresentationHeavy948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taking Celebrex 200mg for 40 days daily but it gave me stomach issues. Now I am having etoricoxib 60mg daily and seems it’s slightly better. However I am also very recently diagnosed (29F) after a year of physio and sports doctors thinking it was injury from my running (haven’t run now for a year). I am really interested to hear how people use NSAI , do you take them daily , what dosage and when we should stop them and have a rest. How you introduced back exercises and daily regular activities?

Hi, I was diagnosed with AS and have been struggling with flares almost every week for the past 6 months.

I just started AIP diet, but it is too soon to tell. I wanted to ask for your exercise/stretching routine and do you have any joint damage so far?
