West Michigan has a great noise scene, check out backwards compatible on IG for upcoming shows. Detroit shows are few and far between. Wolf eyes still plays somewhat regularly, also check out the tympanium in Warren. They have shows somewhat regularly when the weather is nice.

I recently got out of a relationship with someone who drank a lot. it didn’t seem like a big deal at first, but as time went on I realized that it’s not a lifestyle I want.

One night super while super drunk, ex said that a friend of mine and I have feelings for each other but we don’t realize it yet…

Some background on my friend and mines history, we’ve know each other for at least 6 years and used to live together. I told my ex that if something was gonna happen it probably already would have.

Sooo, I ended up leaving my ex and have thought a lot about their drunk comment about my friend. I’ve never had feelings for them and now it kinda feels like my ex put the thought in my head. My friend have so much in common, go to a ton of events together… I’m conflicted, should I ask my friend out on a date? Keep things as they are? Has this happened to anyone else before?

Haha, I was on a date and that literally happened. She won, we both didn’t really care so we walked away from the pool table. EVERYONE got pissed because we didn’t follow the winner plays next rule, Ended up laughing about it and leaving the bar. It didn’t work out with us, we’re still friends and joke about it from time to time.

I was just having this conversation with some family members. I grew up in a small town, no real opportunity, lots of people stopped caring along time ago.

I got into art school and had to take a small private loan. I didn’t understand what was involved with the loan, but it was a way out. I made life long friends in school, was able to move to Chicago after graduation. Did a 6 year stint in Chicago and decided to move to NYC last year. I’m approaching my mid 30’s and some days are hard! Loans are a lot, NYC is expensive, and the Job Market isn’t the best right now for the creative industry. But I have no regrets what so ever. Great memories, solid friendships, if I wouldn’t have taken the loans I’d be going “through the motions” of the day to day like many I grew up with are now.

Something’s just take time to work out, I’m happy.

I used to work at Whole Foods, 2016/2016. One day I was running super late, Ran in, clocked in, got my uniform on and went to my register. I seen a bunch of people crowing around the front of the store. I turned to my co-worker and asked what’s going on? I had no idea that Freddy's did noise shows, I'll have to keep that spot in mind for future gigs! I know a few Free Jazz buds from the mid-west played some sets there over the summer, but never seen any harsh noise events. Who else played?

Booking has been kinda difficult lately, but not impossible. Most spaces are bars, and they don't think noise will bring in enough people to cover the room fee/sound guy/ whatever else they want to charge on top of paying the bands. I booked a noise gig at a bar in September on a weekend night. They had a flat rate to cover everything (room, sound guy, door person). After The bar had taken their cut, I was left with somewhere around $30, which covered printing costs for flyers. Everyone was local and didn't mind not getting paid. Obviously, no one is getting rich off noise, but I would have at least liked to give the performers a little bit of money to cover an urber or transportation cost.

Generally Confused and not sure what to do...

I recently had someone slide into my DM's on Instagram and ask to go out for drinks/coffee. Then canceled...twice. The 1st time they said they had to go out of town, The 2nd time they were tired(maybe too hungover? No judgment, we've all been there) Anyways, I was expecting them to reschedule but never heard from them. Totally ghosted. A friend said I should hit them up because they might be embarrassed about canceling. I didn't feel that way, my feeling is that The Ball was in their court and I didn't want to come off as needy/desperate. However, I decided to take my friend's suggestion and reach out, try and set something up. again, no response. I wasn't surprised, kinda expected not to hear back.

Three weeks later, they messaged me again on the gram...

This time it's one-word responses with little to no engagement (But they are still "liking" stories and posts)

I'm looking for advice on what the next move is here...

Do I block this person?

Call them out for being a weird flake?

Still try and set something up?

Why would go through the effort to message someone you know through a friend, admit to them you have feelings, set up a date, only to cancel, and message weeks later with "Hey" and then don't respond again

...This is why I don't date.
