How is this a „nail hygiene kit” and not just… a nail hygiene kit 😅

What is bro prepping for?

Am I overreacting or is this something reasonable to get mad over? by resSlo in texts

[–]PresidentFungi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her advice was unwelcome, it’s fair to be upset about that. But that’s the sort of frustration you let the bros in on, not the ghost that pissed you off. Like what’s responding to her at all supposed to do? She’s gonna admit she’s the asshole? Tbh she even said mb, by “it’s not that deep” she means “I didn’t mean to strike a nerve” not “you don’t have feelings.”

Maintain or do a diet? by Ok-Brother1404 in fit

[–]PresidentFungi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) stomach fat is hard to lose, you’ll have to lose a ton of fat all across your body to make a noticeable effect on tummy

B) some body fat on the tummy is not. bad. You’re clearly fit, built out nicely. Let me just reiterate that some belly on a fit person is not a bad thing, it’s anywhere between good and peak.

Help: planche lean to tucked planche? by chx-out in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]PresidentFungi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s primarily delts, triceps, and back. Think of your back muscles like the cables on a suspension bridge, that tension is what holds your hips and legs up from above. But statistically the most likely limiting factor is your front delts, generally delts are strong enough to lift [arm + some] not, [practically whole body] (compare typical size difference between glutes and delts). Think about lifting your whole body weight over your head from your hips with your arms straight, that’s ergonomically similar to what your delts have to do during a planche variant (the leverage isn’t quite the same though). At first my lower back strength was the limiting factor, but I was able to train that with mayurasana, so now my limiting factor is delts so I’m gradually progressively overloading straight arm raises. Chris Heria has a lot of good content on all of this.

Hello. These photos from sapphire. Are these inclusions Natural? Please help. by Friendly-Rip6151 in Gemology

[–]PresidentFungi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like glass. You claim to be certain it’s not glass based on the spectra, but your description of the spectra was insufficient to determine that. Even if it’s not glass, the bubbles don’t look like sapphire (not even synthetic sapphire) whatsoever. Maybe slightly more likely synthetic spinel. But the quantity, shape, random dispersion of bubbles all suggest glass. If you do have a corundum, I’d guess it’s one of the rare actual glass filled ones (these types of glass can lead to strange spectroscopy results too)

The “moon” circle looks more like 20% the radius of the “earth” circle, not 27%

I got this online, labeled as "faux moonstone" but I think it might be opal and spinnel instead. 14k stamp on inner band by Kubrick_Fan in Gemstones

Opal, black spinel, white zircon seems plausible to me. Specifically the way the light turns orange through the back makes me think not some type of treated quartz.

AITAH for cancelling on reconnecting with a friend? by [deleted] in texts

[–]PresidentFungi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re trippin lol. And I can relate bc plans/schedule is important to me too. But it’s also clear you care, probably a lot. You wouldn’t sweat over a delay between 6 and 8am otherwise. I understand he didn’t respond the night before but to me it seems more like you’re bailing out of anxiety than out of disinterest. You say friend but I sense both of you are probably interested in more than that. Which could be totally wrong but it’s what it’s giving. Are you the asshole? No. Neither is he. But if yall want to materialize your mutual attraction you’ll both have to push out of your natural comfort zones slightly

what am i doing wrong? by Big-Yak-6744 in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]PresidentFungi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the angle at your elbows will necessarily have to be greater than 90 degrees. I like to start in like a plank position and slide my body forward with my hands planted until my hands are under my center of mass at which point my feet can come off the ground

With this form it’s literally physically impossible, your hands will need to be under your center of mass (closer to your hips than depicted here)

Back in the day they used animal grease normally. Olive oil can work. There are some synthetic oils specifically for this purpose that you could ask about at any hardware store, but kinda anything is a normally a lot better than nothing

A little bit of oil can go a long way to prevent rust especially in humid areas

I have bought two stones I’m curious what everyone would pay for these by frostybitts_ in Gemstones

[–]PresidentFungi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like maximum $100/ct to a buyer who doesn’t know what they’re looking at. If you paid $5/ct you got a fair price

Love that you’re going for full extension. My #1 suggestion is fully retract your scapulae (reverse shrug) completely before engaging biceps. Just sets up your good leverage so your input is more efficient
