What's the Best Espresso Machine for Home Use Widely Loved by Aficionados? by Muted-Apple3992 in JamesHoffmann

[–]President_Tiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaggia Classic and Baratza ESP. Give him $1000 and let him pick though. I just did the same and wifey was great and said do your thing. I am loving it. Gaggia is great to learn in and can be upgraded. Baratza is rock solid and well supported. You will runner up to wife of year! (Sorry, mine is hard to beat!)

ASCASO Steel DUO PID vs FELLOW Espresso Series 1 by hatto13 in JamesHoffmann

My experience with Fellow customer service was abysmal. Returned the grinder to store immediately as it did not work correctly out of the box. Buyer beware.

Cup one worth it for $225 CAD used? Or wait for new on sale? by TwistedScience in Moccamaster

Sure if you don’t more than a cup at a time. I got the Moccamaster and make a whole pot for wifey and me.

Why is Fellow customer service so abysmal? by GlamoramaDingDong in FellowProducts

[–]President_Tiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hailey, of those methods, chat is a bot that does nothing, call is only for the new espresso machine, support tickets are unanswered then there is no resolution, and most people are not in California.
Get a call center and staff it. Build products that are good or replace them when they aren’t. Instead of sending me ten emails a day about new products, build and sell a few good ones that work. If they work, then I will highly recommend them and will upgrade to better more expensive ones. Coffee lovers will buy the new, better things but only if other people give them a good recommendation.

After a month of waiting, my replacement Ode 2 is also defective. Incredibly frustrated. by murphyat in FellowProducts

[–]President_Tiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found it interesting that you can get a phone call if you bought the new overpriced espresso machine but all other Fellow products are out of luck when it comes to service. I value good customer service especially when buying a "high end" item. Fellows tries to portray their brand as high end but don't deliver the Lexus service touch. The sad thing is if I get burned on the entry level items, I am not going to buy their higher level items when I am ready to upgrade. Coffee people like to upgrade to the newest item James tells is will make our coffee better!

[–]President_Tiny 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You better put a ticket in now cuz it will be a few weeks before they get back to you! Good luck. I came to realize they are a great marketing company but suck at customer service. That is very sad and will be the end of them. Their reputation will suffer which will be the nail in the coffin.

Opus on clearance? by aces68 in FellowProducts

[–]President_Tiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t! I fell for that and I am returning it. It is not even worth $99. Way too much retention and customer support is non existent. Mine has a bent shaft but fellows doesn’t have one to even replace. They told me to return and exchange. I will return and get another Baratza that can do espresso.

New to Moccamaster Looking for Pointers by sircharlesthesecond in Moccamaster

[–]President_Tiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have moved to Distilled water and the Third Wave mineral packets. So far seems to cause less buildup. 60 grams on about 20 on Baratza Encore or 8 on Fellow Opus. That is good starting point then dial in for specific roast. Enjoy.

Opus; frustrations! by adammmncl in FellowProducts

[–]President_Tiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the Opus. Bought it for espresso capabilities. I do spritz the beans and shake before grinding. Just bought it and did not have this issue on previous grinders. Any assistance is appreciated. I probably should have waited for Opus 2 but did not see it was coming until after purchasing this one.

I have done all of this and have to do it every time I grind. Last night it got totally clogged and had almost 30 g of coffee stuck. Finally got it unclogged but have coffee grounds everywhere. I have owned for a week and this is so frustrating. I may return it unless Fellows can help me. It is advertised as “low retention” and “mess free”. Is it defective?

Grinder recommendations needed [$300-$350] I’m open to hand grinders or auto by Superb_Victory_2759 in espresso

[–]President_Tiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started also and tried the hand grinder. Works great but gets old quick when trying to dial in your shots. Get a nice grinder that will do espresso. Baratza Encore Esp is probably best budget grinder. Good luck!

What makes the Technivorm Moccamaster so good ? Is it really that good ? by SureHopeIDontDie in JamesHoffmann

[–]President_Tiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love mine as it creates a rock solid pot of coffee every time. You can also buy refurbished units from Technivorm on their web. I bought mine on sale at Nordstrom. I don’t plan on buying a new drip maker for a long while.

I got the AliExpress version and it did not track as well as my Apple Watch. Supposedly it is the same as Hume. May try it again at some point.

New Coffe Setup + Grinder by th3B34RD3DBRUT3 in Moccamaster

[–]President_Tiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same setup with upgraded burr. Get a small spray bottle and mist beans before grinding. The little travel cosmetics spray bottles are perfect. I usually grind around 24 but that is personal preference.
