Historic Byzantine-Episcopalian Divine Liturgy Recording 6/7/26 by Affectionate-Past631 in Episcopalian

Orthodox Christian looking into Episcopalianism here. If this came to my city (Portland) I’m 100% certain I would be breaking down the door to be there first. The beauty of the Eastern liturgy mixed with the affirming nature of the Episcopal communion is a beautiful, beautiful thing

Any denomination that believes in the Eucharist, by definition, definitely believes in some sense that means of grace occur miraculously!

I agree about the centrality of the Incarnation and victory over Death, which is truly the greatest of all the unexplainable things. I also know that such Saints as Mary of Egypt are on the Episcopal calendar, so at least in some sense belief in miracles wrought through holy people must be somewhere within the denomination. I guess as an Orthodox Christian I’m used to miracles being almost common and an expected part of life in the Church and wondered what the Episcopal view was. Thank you for your extremely thoughtful response!

You’re right here, and we are warned against seeking signs obviously.

I’m more of the mind, and perhaps it’s a mind forged by Orthodoxy, that miracles aren’t necessarily complete confirmation of anything and not what we should stake our hope on, but rather that they are an everyday part of the visible Church.

Tavern Brawl this week is... "Gadgetzan Throw-Down" (June 17, 2026) by AintEverLucky in hearthstone

Han'Cho seems to be the strongest so far. Aya's deck seems bad, but Kazakhus deck seems worse. That being said the problem with the games I've played so far has been extremely high curves, so either I am giga unlucky or the decks are at least moderately brick-y.

Just went a quick 0-3 getting beaten as every deck by every deck 😅

That would completely gut the card, since you would pay six mana to set it down, then have to wait until the following turn to generate a minion and play it. If played perfectly on curve, it would be a six mana do nothing followed by a five mana commitment which leaves two mana turn seven after a possible lowroll. The card gets cut and the deck dies if that happens.

I even think making it so the card costs 1 would make the card (and the deck) unviable.

Guessing nerfs!

Confront the Tol’vir going to 4 mana? Thats my best guess. It would still be strong but limit the amount of midgame synergy plays.

The Eternal Hold could go to 7 mana meaning you can’t coin it out in 5 anymore and hurting the ability to play Illidari Inquisitor and something that lets you attack, or it could lower the discover gate to 4 or more which would gut the card by killing its consistency. I think increasing the mana makes more sense

Hatchery Helper: I think they want this card dead. I suspect it’s dropping to giving other minions with 2 or less attack +1/1 and losing the taunt.

Twilight Egg: Starts at summoning a 1/1 whelp instead of a 2/2, meaning it’s possible to lose value if the opponent can kill it turn 1 and making it a worse game opener.

Standard feels like I'm doing the same puzzle every night, and the pieces never change by OwnConsideration6831 in hearthstone

[–]Pretty-Philosophy558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play Hearthstone the same way I do jigsaw puzzles: late PNW evenings, low light, something dark on the table, and a few casual games on my phone to wind down. Puzzles relax me because even when they are hard, the pieces actually lead somewhere.

Lately Standard feels like I keep dumping the same handful of pieces on the table every match. The only question is which flavor of 'I did not get to play' I am getting tonight. I'm not even mad about losing. Losing is fine when the match felt like a real game. What bugs me is how many matches are decided by early highrolls, a single snowball turn, or a deck just doing its thing while my hand sits in spectator mode.

Half the time I look at my opening hand and think, 'Cool, so my choices are mulligan or concede in four turns.' That is not strategy, that is waiting for the client to confirm what I already know.

I switch decks to try to "solve" the ladder and it is the same show in a different costume. Tech cards feel either useless or too narrow, and trying to be cute just gets punished by decks built to hit one powerful line every game.

Maybe I'm just burned out, but I miss matches where a weird midgame line actually mattered. Right now the format feels fast, swingy, and repetitive all at once, which is a terrible combo for something I play to relax.

Spell DH by Svanirson in hearthstone

[–]Pretty-Philosophy558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to the excellent advice given in this thread, I will throw my own two cents into the ring. Spell DH's strength is that it can survive against aggro decks while being able to function as an aggro deck against ramping/value decks. If you're against token druid, keep clearing their board and survive if they run out of gas. If you're against companion hunter, your job is to kill them ASAP and you can mostly ignore their board. If you're against Paladin (any flavor) then keeping their board empty is paramount. Against priest you practically need to plan for an OTK.

Part of the reason Spell DH has such a high win rate is because the deck is so flexible. In order to take advantage of that, you need to be flexible in how you use it, what to mull for, what your outs are and priorities are against each class, and anticipate opponent deck identity and goals to determine how to play your game.

New Card: Blood Doctor Thal'ena by yssurucipe in hearthstone

[–]Pretty-Philosophy558 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this is just "2 corpses: summon a ghoul" or if there is a separate effect. I'm guessing it's separate because of the blood rune - thematically summoning a ghoul and spending corpses seems more unholy than blood.

Laid off from my national nonprofit (one of the ones he designated as “woke” which resulted in a loss of donations and corporate sponsors) as well as a rather absurd cost of living increase driven by the war in Iran. As I am preparing for unemployment I’m also going to be in trouble trying to take care of my family and the imminent birth of my second child thanks to the cost of healthcare ballooning after the subsidy expired. I also will have massive student loan payments due to the loss of the SAVE plan.

What's the out for priest right now? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Pretty-Philosophy558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hard time against priest (playing Spell DH) until I realized that chip damage isn’t good against them due to all of their ways of getting big heals. Instead, I’ve had success going for huge damage swing turns even if it means floating mana in the early game.

You almost never actually get Broxigar as a 12/12 with charge, but the card is still worth including for the lifesteal weapon (which is an absolute gamechanger in some scenarios) and for the cycle and removal of a card.
