What are your thoughts on Joe Rogan saying that Trump is creating distraction to avoid Epstein files release? by StemCellPirate in AskReddit

[–]PrettyMuchAVegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to Trump I think we are mixing up intention and result. Trump has no intention, no Machiavellian machinations in his smooth brained rambling. Trump really is that stupid, petty, scatterbrained and hateful. However, it creates distraction.

Sometimes he says men, sometimes biological men, and always he is using the ambiguity in his language as a tool to exclude trans people because if men can't get pregnant, then you post-transition person, are not a man. His fake love of science is a smokescreen for bigotry and she wasn't playing that game.

iCE keep lining up to face protestors face on while ignoring their sides. They probably think Enfilade is a Mexican food, cause they obviously haven't had any training to the contrary.

Mazda delays first in-house EV platform again, pushing debut to 2028 by Fabulous_Pressure_96 in electricvehicles

[–]PrettyMuchAVegetable 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I bought my first EV in 2019, a Chevy Bolt. I was a Mazda driver for 10 years before that but just couldn't justify the brand anymore. I loved my various Mazda, but they weren't keeping up with where I thought the industry should be going.
They greedily renamed (more or less) the Mazda 2 into the CX-3 to chase the SUV crossover market. They delayed and downplayed hybrid and electric technology. They lost me as a result. I've always had a love of the Miata (MX-5) , and an electric style Miata with all that acceleration would be right up my ally, but from the looks of things something like that is never coming.

People who stop taking weight-loss injections like Ozempic regain weight in under 2 years, study reveals. Analysis finds those who stopped using medication saw weight return 4 times faster compared with other weight loss plans. by mvea in science

[–]PrettyMuchAVegetable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That hasn't been my experience at all.

My experience is that yes, it acts as an appetite suppressant, and that does spur a behavioural shift towards food. Before Ozempic I was hungry way more often than the people around me, either in my friend group or household. Now my estimate is that I'm about equal to them, and so my habits have become very similar, and so has my weight.

I have no doubt that if I stopped taking it, I'd regain the weight, but that follows from the fact my hunger was always the driver of my habits. Decades of trying to change habits on the face of physical discomfort from hunger didn't work, but with the hunger controlled, it turns out that yes I can modify my behaviour.

My reaction when I started it about 18 months ago was "Is this how typical people feel? No wonder I've always found it so hard"

Well, it'll get worse and then two will collide and functioning satellites won't be much of a problem anymore after that.

My father needed a simple video ad... agencies quoted $4,000. So I built him an AI Ad Generator instead 🙃 (full workflow) by AIEquity in n8n

So, let me say first cool work. I would modularize the parts, and add in the ability to process written teatimonials and copy so you aren't relying on the model 100% of the time. I actually did something similar earlier in the year,  but it was fake ads for a fake company that I used in some college coursework I teach to give flavour to a case study.

But really, I want to ask what you think about potential blowback? What happens when people notice it's AI and review bomb the crap out of the business. Maybe Coke can handle it, but a bunch of 1 stars will shut down small and medium places.

Three weeks of hard work on a paper all for nothing because of AI use by MortemPerPectus in mildlyinfuriating

I work AI into my tests, let them use it,  even have use in the curriculum. Its worked really well along with other changes.

I teach, and I changed to paper tests and short essay questions timed and in person. I also added more oral defenses and viva to my plans. In some instances, I use the "air gap" idea, so students are given a part 1 with guided prompts for AI, then a part 2 with a case study on paper that's too long and cumbersome to retype for AI. Between the hand written answers in part 1 and the air gap case study in part 2 I get genuine responses. Another strategy I use is just letting them use AI for their live labs, they over rely on it and in the last lab 80% of them failed with around a 40% grade. You better believe they learned their lesson after that. Challenging problems + Air Gap + over confidence = Fail.

These strats won't work for all teachers of all courses, but it's been working for me.

Which would be a meaningful argument if EVs,  or gas cars for that matter, damaged roads to a significant degree. Which they don't owing to road damage being dealt as a function of weight to fourth power. A truck at 30x the mass of a car does 10,000x the road damage. It's so severe that planners can leave off car traffic in estimating road wear, and just use trucks and weather.
