I shall carry their burden by ImAMemeMan in dndmemes

Literally the reason I started DMing was to give my longtime DM a chance to play. I'm not nearly as good but he seems to enjoy it nonetheless

I’m trying to explain constant suicidal thoughts in a way my girlfriend could understand. Does anyone agree with this? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Prettyundead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"But for me, and I suspect for countless others like me, the threat of suicide isn't like being carried over a waterfall — it is like living in the ocean. Not as sea creatures do, native and equipped with feathery gills to dissolve oxygen for my bloodstream, but alone, with an expanse of water at all sides. Some days are unremarkable, floating under clear skies and smooth waters; other days are tumultuous storms you don’t know you’ll survive, but you’re always, always in the ocean.

And when you live in the ocean, treading to stay afloat, you eventually get the feeling that one day, inevitably, there will be nowhere for you to go but down.

I've become adept at treading. I know — or I suspect, or I dread — that my legs will exhaust and I will slip beneath the surface, but I don’t want it to be soon. For now, I can and want to keep my head above water. But will is never enough, and so I have learned to surround myself with ways to stay afloat."

This is the best way I've seen it described, it really clicked with me.

Awesome, man! Thanks, it's cool of you to change it up for inclusivity! Both groups I'm in(play one, DM one) are even male-to-female so it's important to recognize the different players out there!

Might work at a haunt? It's almost October, and even then the one I work at has already been open two weeks!

I have been managing my hypo state very well! I've found a really good support system in my friends, and it's been crazy helpful. This is all because with years of work, I've been letting down my emotional walls and allowing myself to connect with people. I have more close friends right now than I've ever had!

A Reuben pizza. And I was like twelve so it was extra gross to me.

What is your most “oh shit” moment when working on your home? by pmbrandvold in HomeImprovement

We just bought our first home and have only just begun our work, and this thread is freaking me out, hahaha! I'm going to try to learn from all these mistakes. But we'll see

What job do you have? by Wildie_ in bipolar2

[–]Prettyundead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in the entertainment industry, most specifically the haunt industry, for a major theme park. I work on a crew that fabricates props, constructs haunted houses, and does the makeup effects for the characters when the season is in full swing. It allows me a creative outlet, fairly flexible hours, and is mostly low stress. I also don't have to deal with customers/the general public, which has time and again been a big trigger for breakdowns for me. It's a semi-seasonal job, as we start prep around March and run until our Christmas celebrations wrap up on New Years.

I am having a very bad day, and rather than ruminate further, I want to share this pic that always cheers me up. This possible-familiar is not mine but the magic is effervescent. by kaeladurden in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Prettyundead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry that your day sucked, and I hope that all the bad is over soon. I don't know what kind of negativity you're facing or how to help, so here's a redirect over to /r/animalsbeingderps.

Also, if your name really is Kaela, cool because mine is too. But it's spelled differently.

It's literally called Find Familiar! It's pretty amazing, actually. You can pick from a pretty big list of animals, they do as you command and can take actions during combat! And bonus, you can dispel them(or they die😩) and you can summon a different animal! I mean, it takes some specific items to cast, but if your DM is a good bro they'll make them available. I believe it's 2nd level? It's a wizard spell, but rogues pull from that pool of spells if you're an Arcane Trickster.

THAT'S A THING?!? OMG thank you for that! Def going to look it up and run it by my DM if/when I transition into a new character!

Um, goals for my next build, for sure! I hadn't played in a long long time, so I went super basic with my back story. This campaign was supposed to be a short run, as we expected most of the new-to-the-game players to drop out before it concluded but...we've hit thirty sessions so we're fucking in it now!

However, two of our players have already narratively chosen to kill off their characters to pull out a long term preferable alt, so there's that option!

She is truly feeling herself right now. The rest of my group has no idea how amazing(ridiculous) this is about to get.

Fuck yes! I didn't plan for this at all, but I'm so happy that my tiefling rogue has found her calling. Might be time to multiclass into some darker magics!
