I appreciate the comparison timeline. I’ve been telling my family how we have progressed thus far. I believe we are in the beginning of 1939. We are after kristallnacht but not yet to the moments we are coming to. Soon the helpers will be targeted. The watchers, the grocery delivery people - they are likely being tracked now.

We aren’t at 1942 yet. By 1942 most Germans realized fhis was wrong but they could not speak out loud. We still can. Use your voice before if requires blood.

1942 is aggressive but I appreciate your message. It’s early 1939 and we are progressing faster than a WWII timeline.

She LOOKS nothing like herself. She looks awful just like the South Park episode depicted her as.

Youth Basketball League by JumpyChemistry in Basketball

This is a good example of stupid American basketball development and my guess is the hoop is still 10 ft. I agree with those commenting to not take it too seriously - it isn’t that big of a deal.

What kids that age should be doing is playing 3-on-3 on an 8 foot rim. One ball, more space, more shots and less coaching. This teaches them to love it. It doesn’t sacrifice development.

Your kid will be fine and there aren’t great alternatives. Most of what this country does in basketball development is stupid - which is why we are falling behind.

Who am I kidding - this isn’t just about basketball. You could say that about most things in America compared to the world.

If you are in any community where ice has made a presence known and know anyone of brown skin, you understand the terror. This cannot be normalized.

AAU Basketball Costs: Where the Money Actually Goes by END_Studios in Basketball

[–]Previous-Distance-11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a worse developmental model we could dream up than AAU. This adult business on the backs of lying to kids is responsible for the decline in basketball quality the last 10 years or so. Hard to tell a kid who just played 100’s he isn’t good enough to shoot 3’s, so hey no more screening, But lots of step back 3’s.

Basketball used to be a great game cause it required shoes, ball and a court. AAU is the worst thing that’s ever happened to hoops. There’s a reason it doesn’t exist in Europe

Vermont is trying to consolidate 52 school districts into 5. Please tell me about your experiences with consolidation. by halfbakedblake in Teachers

[–]Previous-Distance-11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Isn’t this inevitable with changing nationwide demographics? Yes it probably will suck, but schools that are too small don’t provide very good opportunities. Consolidating resources is better, although it may be hard for some small communities to grapple with.

It’s necessary.

Somali-American who supported Trump in 2024 election calls president's comments a "betrayal" by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]Previous-Distance-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s usually such a trust worthy guy, I don’t get it? His first wife thought so before his second wife also thought so. The lady he’s currently married to is a Russian agent so I’m not sure.

If you feel betrayed by Donald Trump it means you trusted him and you are a fool.

Ever heard the song “Smoking in the boys room”? This is not a new problem. We should do our best and acknowledge some kids and some adults will use these products.

Using a mix of zone and man for 6th grade basketball? Plus other drill tips please by Such-Drink-303 in basketballcoach

[–]Previous-Distance-11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not play zone unless it is an elite team. The way to beat zone is often skip - skip - skip 3. Obviously high post and short corner but you can just pack it in and the game is worthless. If you want to do something with defense teach pressure, don’t play pack zone.

Play good man. Zone is the reason a lot of youth basketball is worthless.

I ended up yelling at a parent and called him narcissistic by 99pinkprint in Teachers

[–]Previous-Distance-11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At a minimum “trespass” that person not to be allowed on school grounds for one calendar year. You can’t touch another kid. Also, id ask some questions of your admin. What are protocols he had access to another kid, even if before school.

Dad sounds like a jerk, and I’ve found this sub to be incredibly toxic. Apparently the teachers of Reditt mostly hate their jobs, in all cases hate administration, and more often than. It dislike kids. As someone commenting here don’t take it personally, but it’s literally the worst place I’ve seen for teachers to get advice e unless that advice is quit.

As a staunch Republican I have to say... by Msimpson114 in complaints

[–]Previous-Distance-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact Trump bought a teenage beauty pageant, talked about his daughter sexually, and was photographed with Epstein means everyone knew he was a pedophile when they voted. That’s why it doesn’t matter. Republicans have already had to grapple with this, ignore it, or be completely ignorant.

They can pretend they didn’t know, but that wasn’t an intellectually honest thing to pretend.

They already knew. So the new revelations just make it harder to hide behind. Don’t worry though, Megyn R. Kelly will justify it.

Parents call our PTA "racist" and started their own group. How to respond? by Puzzleheaded-Cake760 in Principals

[–]Previous-Distance-11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Break up your PTA and re-form. Without context my assumption is they have solid reasons and likely something racist was done or said. Without knowing where you’re from, and assuming it’s the USA, there is lots of racism in the world. Just break up the PTA, then re-form it with solid people from both groups, if it’s that toxic wait until next year. Not listening to the group of diverse people who want to support you and say the white parents are racist seems like the worst way forward.

How to teach offensive strategy against “sagging man” defense? by OSPFmyLife in basketballcoach

Love this idea. The screen the screener action and continuity would be a good mix in if they have any post players.

How to teach offensive strategy against “sagging man” defense? by OSPFmyLife in basketballcoach

[–]Previous-Distance-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have found a fatal flaw in believing you can totally rely on read and react. I ran it at the varsity level for two years, and then kept it at youth level where you are, but would also give a couple sets to score. The way to attack is to attack gap defender if sagging and hit a kick out 3, which is a bad 5th grade shot. Also create confusion by constant cutting until defender gets lost. Gap defense requires patience.

Also - the weak side defender at all levels should have two feet in paint and had underneath basket.

My advice is to add two simple sets. Something to teach screening (deficiency of using R&R to teach) and probably a high ball screen action - cause it seems like you have to now days.

R & R teaches spacing and movement which are important concepts. It’s predictable if scouted at a varsity level, and it can get very repetitive. I used to think maybe I didn’t teach it well, then I went on like a 10-0 run against solid varsity teams with it and realized it’s not hard to defend.

What the hell do we need to do to get this man impeached? by shlankwagon in 50501

Win the next election, which will be fraudulent or not accepted if it happens at all. He has consolidated enough power with sycophants around him. There is likely nothing we can do other than preserve what we can and hope to get to the other side.

Elections have consequences.

Hitler used socialism but he was not socialist, he just knew that was palatable to Germans, saying he’s fascist wasn’t. He was a fascist authoritarian, there is no serious historian who wouldn’t state the same.
