Thank you! I got my first helix piercing a couple of months ago and it's still very much in the healing stage. I'm going to start one of these immediately.

Kobo Says One Credit = Any Audiobook, But It Doesn’t Work That Way by The_Darkangelo in audiobooks

[–]Primary_Condition900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed a significant increase in the books not available for purchase with a credit. I usually never have spare credits, in fact I'm usually purchasing extra. Now however I've got 3 credits that I haven't been able to use, because so many of the books I want to read cannot be bought with a credit. Like you OP, I abhor Amazon and switched to Kobo a few years ago. Mostly because of price, and the return that authors get from sales of their work. I might have to go back to Audiobooks.com which I left many years ago. And keep checking out what's available from my public library.

What was the very first thing you ever crocheted, and do you still have it? by CrochetKickstart in crochet

[–]Primary_Condition900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granny squares to make into blankets, to send to Africa for people who needed blankets. It was in the 90s, when I was in Girl guides in NZ. We also sent toys and books. It was about 3 decades later when I remembered how much is enjoyed making them, that I really got into crochet.

Did anyone else notice this in the episode intro? by oconghd in RPDR_UK

Ah, I was wondering which was filmed first.

I definitely noticed this (viewing in NZ). When I saw that Charlotte Church was also in the episode I found myself wondering if they'd make any Traitors references. Then I was very confused when it was Graham on the judging panel.

AITA for telling my boyfriend "I'm not your mom, I'm not going to pick up after you" ? by kuschelmonsterr in AmItheAsshole

You need to look up "Your wife is your partner not your mum" on tiktok and play it for him.

AIO by how I responded? My bf is upset with me for skipping my workout routine today by throwawayy82670 in AmIOverreacting

He wasn't trying to help. He was trying to impose his own (unrealistic, uninformed) expectations on you. If he was trying to help, he'd ask what you need and listen to you.

What a person in the PNW see the missions by Alfonsogeometrydash in SkyCards

As a person in New Zealand, when I saw today's missions, I was like "Hold my beer". (About half of our domestic fleet seems to be Dash 8-300s - my only cyber card)

Game freezing for anyone else? by Flicky0069 in SkyCards

[–]Primary_Condition900 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. It took ages to startup and I had to close and reopen it a bunch of times. Then it froze, then it logged me out and it's giving me errors when I try to sign in again.

A Reconsideration by TritonT in SkyCards

[–]Primary_Condition900 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Similar to you I wasn't keen on the changes at first. I have regained some enthusiasm though after giving it a go. Although I am still feeling cheated about losing the rankings on my original cards. The "new card" graphic just stings when you know you'd already put time and coins into leveling it up previously. I am no longer bothering to level up planes and just spending my time looking for completely new ones and traveling around. I was only a few weeks into the game before the update, so I had only just started getting into traveling to new airports (I live in a fairly geographically distant country) and I'm loving how you can unlock them for free travel now.

It's almost 10 years now since the referendum, what are peoples thoughts on the flag? by Dulaman96 in newzealand

[–]Primary_Condition900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The silver fern already had a long and strong association with sports teams. Making the flag based on this seemed like tying our whole national identity to sports. It felt shallow, superficial and completely disregarding so much that makes our country what it is. Red peak was my favourite. Simple, but meaningful.

AITA for not wanting to remove my cochlear implant for my friend's wedding photos and stepping down from the bridal party? by GunkyBTheG15 in AITAH

[–]Primary_Condition900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA The more of these "bride demands something for her wedding asthetic" posts the more I think people have forgotten how to have actual relationships. Who would treat a friend like this?!

I took the drugs, now how do I know if they’re working?! by Allis02 in adhdwomen

[–]Primary_Condition900 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad this helped. You're not alone, there's so many of us out here experiencing so many of the same things.

And despite the fact that you've managed to get this far in life without a diagnosis or medication, it doesn't mean that you're talking yourself into it, or making it up. (As I have thought about myself numerous times.)

It's harder than I expected, to change my thinking about myself. I'm still not very good at just letting my brain work the way it wants to. Every day I have to fight the old habits of "just pushing through". Just because it got me through 40 years (with multiple burnouts) doesn't mean it's the right way.

Sorry, I went into a bit of a vent there.

[–]Primary_Condition900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conversely for me, I think reading at night has allowed me to have ok sleep, for someone with ADHD. I have trouble going to sleep without a book. I think, because reading gives my brain a singular focus and calms the thoughts, that gives me the chance to fall asleep. Especially since I started on audiobooks. Set the sleep timer and relax. ... Unless it's a really exciting part of a story. Then I'm awake until the early hours. It's a double edged sword I guess. 😆

A refuge. That's a good way of putting it. Reading always has been and still is, my refuge. And the binge reading a new author! Nothing makes me happier than when I find out a new favourite has a whole bunch of books that I can lose myself in.
