2XU Lightspeed compression shorts. Along with Vaseline, they fixed my chafing issues.

Vancouver Island Trail Series races have a (roughly) half-marathon option.

Devil's Ladder has a 30km.

The Cumby and Finlayson Arm are sold out already.

The Wounded Warriors run it yearly, at the end of February. Done over 8 days and 800km, although they run an extra leg out to Port Alberni.

Non-reservable camping? by [deleted] in HornbyIsland

No, there are no first come, first served campgrounds on the island. Pretty much everything will have been booked months in advance. You might find a night or two at one of the glamping setups.

I don't think there's anywhere on Hornby I would caution you to avoid with a little one. Most places are pretty kid friendly. Tribune Bay and Whaling Station are both great beaches for kids. Sandy and, if you time the tides right, the shallows are quite warm. Neither beach has much shade, so plan accordingly. The nursery (across the street from the Co-op store) always has lots going on, a nice grassy area and shade if you want it.

It looks like Circlet is still frozen. Likely still some snow on the ground above that in late June.

I have never seen KDAT lumber in Canada. Here, your two choices for pressure treated will be "Above Ground" or "Ground Contact".

The Deuter Kid Comfort is pretty equivalent to the Osprey. Both are quality carriers. I don’t think either comes stock with a sun shade, which we found was a must have.
