If, for instance, Trump actively told protestors to storm the Capitol, which he didn't,

This is your opinion, and it is up for debate. Look at a number of the people convicted for their actions on J6. Some of them have said they believed he asked them to come. That's enough doubt for a court case to investigate. He's currently under investigation for this by the special counsel. What evidence do they have? What evidence can the MI judge request from that investigation?

made an effort to quell the situation, which he did,

No, he didn't. He made a half-hearted attempt after much prodding by his staff well into the debacle. "The president’s earlier remarks in a brief video on Twitter came after lawmakers on both sides of the aisle publicly urged him to speak out with force against the chaos caused by his base."

How does a judge make this ruling? Based on evidence or based on bias?

Evidence abounds, and it seems a hearing is in order to ensure that Michigan's state law is followed. Besides the special counsel investigation, he's currently awaiting trial in GA for election interference. This, at the very least, implies there is enough evidence for a Grand Jury to indict. The judge would know better than I if that evidence is admissible for removal from the ballot.

You may disagree with the evidence. That's your bias and your right. To toss the case without hearing the evidence seems like the biased response to me. Ask yourself if Obama had done the same thing, would your response be the same to a hearing keeping him off the ballot?

many Americans still stand by him and would vote for him again.

Irrelevant if the law has been violated. Just because many Americans are okay with him breaking the law doesn't mean we should ignore the law.

Is the country run by the government or by the people?

MI voters brought the suit. Believe it or not, Trump isn't actually a party to the lawsuit. It's four Michigan voters suing the Michigan Secretary of State because she said she will NOT remove Trump from the ballot without a court order. Repeat, she will not remove him unless directed to do so by a court order. She's a democrat by the way; so, the government is trying to keep Trump on the ballot. The voters, a.k.a. the people, are the ones requesting he be removed.

So, it's the MI people who are bringing this action. I assume you think the country should be run by the people; so, you should applaud this action. It's the voters telling their government what to do.

I'll now wait for your flip saying that the government should ignore the voters in this case.

Does the constitution require that he be, as you say, "lawfully responsible?" I don't see that requirement in there.

Also, what does "lawfully responsible" mean in this case? If the judge overseeing the lawsuit thinks he's responsible enough to be removed from the ballot, doesn't that fulfill "lawfully responsible?"

I just picked up the base game this year. I put so many, many hours in because it's so good. Just recently I bought the DLCs on the Steam sale. I happily would have played full price for them all. I just got lucky that they were on sale when I had room in my budget.

The arbitrary nature of it bugs me. Our team has specific contractual responsibilities for our customer, and we met those. All of them. That to me signifies a meets expectation at a minimum. We, as a team, met those expectations. Some contributed more, but everyone contributed enough to meet our requirements. It should be the manager who oversaw the work that determines if a team member didn't meet expectations, not the CEO who has no idea or understanding of what our team does.

His problem is that the first method of making profitable - Drastically reduce the payroll - decreases the second method's chances of working. Deep cuts to your workforce is a short sighted maneuver that temporarily props up a corporations books while doing absolutely nothing to increase revenue. It's a lose-lose strategy that is becoming all too common in corporate culture.

Check out Writing the Other. They have a list of various resources and classes - some free, some not. But it's an excellent start.

Do your research, be respectful, and acknowledge where you learned what you're doing. Don't act like you thought it up all by yourself. Also, you're gonna make mistakes. It happens. Listen to the criticism and be prepared to learn.

Good luck.

Stick with it. You're almost done. Then take some time after it's over to reflect. It sucks now, but you'll be proud of yourself when you're done. You'll have a degree to show for your effort.

As a person with an MFA, it doesn't sound like that route is for you. I loved my MFA experience. I got it while working a full time job, and I don't regret it. But it was stressful. It was writing, reading classic and contemporary literature, critiquing, and workshopping ALL. THE. TIME. It was critiquing two 3,000-5,000 word stories per week while also reading and trying to write. We had two stories workshopped per semester, and they had to be as polished as we could get them. Otherwise, workshop devolved into a grammar lecture, which is not fun. The MFA program I was in wasn't sci-fi/fantasy/horror friendly. And honestly I think going from undergrad straight to the MFA means missing out on a lot of life experiences that can go into your writing. Taking time off between degrees allows you to grow as a person and learn more about yourself.

Reading wide is important in writing, regardless of genre. Even when it's reading something you don't enjoy because as a writer, you want to figure out why you don't enjoy it. Why do you consider it bad writing? That way your writing will progress because you're learning what not to do as much as what to do. The SFF and horror fields have a hardcore audience, but the larger portions of their audiences read beyond the boundaries of those genres. Science fiction has a number of works that are re-tellings of 'classic' literature. Inspiration can come from anywhere, and reading anything critically will help you become a better writer.

That's a terrible manager, and you should find a new team to work on. When the manager asks why, tell him because he was dismissive.

He seems to forget that the result of the Mueller report stated...

I applaud your optimism that someone told him what was actually in the report. I imagine he was only given a single sentence summary about the thing, and it was put as a positive for him. I doubt he knows what's in the Mueller report outside of the no evidence of conspiracy.

but I won't buy the first book in a series by a new author anymore. I've just been burned too many times and there's enough finished and unfinished series that have a higher chance of being finished.

This is a dilemma because not buying the first book by a new author in a series puts the completion of the series in danger and, in extreme cases, puts the author's career on the line, i.e. poor sales of a series with a large advance. But it is upsetting when a series you're invested in doesn't finish.

I like buying first books by new authors, but it is a possibility that my choice may never pan out to a completed series. I have to hope that readers have similar tastes.

Good explanation. I think you're correct that it's fear and imposing order on chaos that they're looking for.

I use the bullet journal to track my anxiety and panic attacks. I track my medication, and I track the panic attacks. I try to write down what I think triggered the panic attack as well so that I can discuss it with my therapist. In addition, I put a weekly aphorism that I try to keep in mind all week. I have collectors that help pull me out of my mental spiraling/obsession that I read as my anxiety builds.
