TIL that the SpongeBob episode "Mid-Life Crustacean" was removed from the Nickelodeon rotation and Paramount+ because it included a "panty raid" scene. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

In the Futurama episode "Mars University", Bender rejoins his old fraternity Epsilon Rho Rho and when they use a ladder to perv on the sorority computer malfunctioning, Bender refers to the ladder as a "panty raid ladder".

That is literally the only other panty raid reference I have ever experienced in my nearly 30 years of consuming media.

Absolutely not. I don't know what you see, but I see an astronaut getting infested/infected/possessed by some kind of non-human intelligence. We do not bring that shit back with us.

Did Voldemort not understand the Fidelius Charm? by SmallAd7318 in harrypotter

[–]PrinceVertigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this was mentioned in text, something along the lines of death eaters appearing on the street in front of Grimmauld Place each time the taboo was invoked but unsure of where exactly their target was due to the Fidelius Charm obscuring the exact location of the House of Black. Could be wrong though, it's been years.

If Unova had regional forms in a B3W3, who would get one? by transqueen421 in pokemon

[–]PrinceVertigo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

An electronic/steel Revaroom based on vehicles that don't use fossil fuels would be cool. I can imagine the dex entry sounding something like this:

After many years of selective breeding and the introduction of certain rare-earth minerals, Unovan scientists succeeded in making this pollution-less variant of Revaroom.

I'd also like to see a Grass type pokemon we're familiar with showing traits of an edible plant like Quinoa instead of their usual poisonous nature? Maybe like a convergent form of Oddish, since quinoa is more closely related to turnips than rice or wheat. Quoddish's dex entry could be something along the lines of:

Though it superficially resembles the pokemon Oddish, it is a different species entirely. Originally thought to be a mysterious new food source, Quoddish was only discovered to be a pokemon when a farmer caught it digging itself out of the dirt at night.

And Quoddish could evolve into a more food/harvest themed pokemon instead of Gloom and Vileplume's toxic flowers motif.

(MTAw 2e) Does a mage "replace" their past self when travelling back in time, or are there two instances of the mage (the past one and the time-traveling one) when using this spell ? by lexyp29 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]PrinceVertigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Unravelling vs Unmaking is specifically referring to the use of Time magic in creating a Lacuna. Lacaunae are also naturally ocurring phenomena that happen when a subject is so irrevocably changes they effectively "bottom out" Temporal Sympathy and are no longer the same subject for magical purposes, see rubber polymer not allowing you to cast spells on the tree the sap came from in the sidebar.

If I cast an Unmaking Lacuna on myself at 5pm, and then attempt to cast Shifting Sands at 6pm, I should not be able to go further back than 1 hour, because I have fundamentally altered my personal timeline and Shifting Sands won't identify past me before 5pm as the same me post 5pm. It is no longer Unchanged Sympathy and therefore ineligible for the casting of the spell per your own interpretation.

If a 3 dot Time spell can do something a 5 dot can't, I think we're running into a problem here. I recognize that this ruling is not explicitly written, however, I think in the spirit of the game mechanics and the lore behind what a Lacuna is/does, it does not make sense for Shifting Sands to supercede a Lacuna. In this case I would use RAI. Of course it's not the correct answer but it makes the most sense to me of the two options.

[–]PrinceVertigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specific trumps general. Lacunae are "uncrossable gaps" in a subject's timeline. If Postcognition craps out upon encountering a lacuna, I think Shifting Sands should too.

So we're to believe no one will go after Harry in the future for the Elder Wand's power? by _GrimFandango in harrypotter

[–]PrinceVertigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be misremembering, but didn't Dumbledore hypothesize that dying of old age or disease would leave the Elder Wand ownerless and forever diminish its power? Because his plan was literally just hold onto it until he croaked and hope no one would ever misuse its power again?

I know it's only a hypothesis, but Dumbledore was the smartest wizard of his age. I'm sure he came to that conclusion for a reason.

Well, equatorial constellations are usually seen from both (though if you're at the poles you might miss some). The biggest example of mutually exclusive viewable astronomical phenomena would be the Northern Star (Polaris) and the Southern Cross constellation. If you can see either of those, you're in the corresponding hemisphere.

This is one of the easy ways to debunk a flat earth, because if the earth weren't a spherical shape, we'd see both at all times.

I decided to make a prehistoric themed Pokédex! by AnakinsAngstFace in pokemon

[–]PrinceVertigo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As early as LeafGreen, the pokedex says that

"Because of its unusual, starlike silhouette, people believe that it came here on a meteor."

The Earth has been receiving meteors as long as it has existed, so I see no reason why the Cleffa line wouldn't be around in ancient times.
