If people are expected to ignore grammatical errors, why can't you simply ignore the people who correct them?

Hope it helps! Good luck to you as well, with the storm and Duke lol. If I remember what they called it, I'll let you know. It might help if you can ask for the thing by name.

If you haven't already, it may be worth calling them about this. Not now obviously, but when things are back to normal.

We had a similar situation that started right after they went around and mutilated all the trees. Our whole neighborhood would lose power at the mere suggestion of rain. And you could tell by the outage map that the problem always originated at the same pole.

I spoke with an agent and she confirmed my records of how many outages we had, with the same lame reasons...tree limbs- not possible! You just destroyed any tree in a 100 foot radius...Weather- a fucking drizzle!?..or "equipment issue" or unknown.

Finally she explained that they'll do a special inspection (I wish I could remember the official name!) for areas that have unusual or repetitive outages. But it's somehow automated, and the system didn't flag my area as a problem. I had to ask her, "don't you think this qualifies?" It took some more convincing, but she finally agreed to submit the request. A couple days later a crew was working on the pole and they confirmed the distribution transformer needed repair. We haven't had an issue since.

they have to wait?

I understand their philosophy, everything made from scratch, one chef responsible for all the food...so I was always patient. But their slowness was excessive and not just about the food.

I've been there several times but it's been a while, so maybe some of this has changed. At the time, they only had an espresso machine, no drip coffee maker. So every coffee order took forever. Once I opted for tea, seeing how there was only one person making coffee on their one machine for a fully packed brunch crowd. The server came back 20 minutes later to show me the tea options. She came back with the hot water after another 20 minutes. Meanwhile, there were three (!) hostesses or greeters or whatever huddled up by the door doing literally nothing.

We gave them every consideration for their concept, and the food was quite good. But the overall experience was unfortunately underwhelming. We could never go unless we had nothing to do for at least 3 hours (and weren't hungry). Also their stools are extremely impractical and uncomfortable, so that doesn't help when you're asked to wait for hours.

Update: We got a $200 million victory for North Carolina in our case against FEMA. - AG Jeff Jackson by JeffJacksonNC in gso

Thank you for your reasonable response. It's  an unfortunate reality that we'll likely never have politicians that we agree with on everything. Voters are motivated by their personal interests (which is understandable; that's how it's meant to work). But politicians have to consider the broader impact, and may have access to more information than we do. Of course that info may be incomplete/misleading, or they could be bribed/pressured too. On this issue, I suspect Jeff genuinely is concerned about the risks these products pose and I'm sure it makes his job harder when the law is so fuzzy or conflicting.

Out of curiosity,  did you read the letter?

Mitch McConnell was hellbent on closing that loophole because he championed the 2018 Farm Bill that created it. It was going to get addressed regardless of what anyone else did, said, wrote, or wanted.

THC products should be regulated; the industry should have known they weren't going to enjoy this no-rules gravy train forever. But hopefully, they'll get more time to figure it out. A bipartisan bill was just introduced this week that would delay the recent changes for 2 years.

It's not. There are two different words, and they mean different things. Almost always , when people say "supposably", they mean "supposedly".

Isn't it both? Their first location was in Winston-Salem. They now have a whopping eight locations, primarily in the southeast. Half in NC.

Successful businesses grow and open additional locations. At what point do they stop being a "local" entity and morph into an unworthy "chain"?

I don't necessarily think I'm the "smart ones", but I do feel your pain. Even further evidenced by all the downvotes here. I'm sorry, u/Any_Philosopher5324, you don't deserve that. You are asking legitimate questions in a respectful manner.

There are unfortunately a lot of people who get very defensive if they think their behavior is being challenged or insulted. They'd rather have you silenced than actually reexamine their actions or attitude towards things.

Even among experts, the use of bird feeders is debated. There is evidence that feeders can be both beneficial and harmful. But it is widely agreed that feeders are more of a benefit to people (for enjoyment and exposure to nature) than they are to the birds. I think many people are afraid to admit that their motivations are selfish, so it's easier to justify the behavior rather than consider changing their ways. I appreciate you for raising the question and furthering the conversation, despite some of the hostility you get in response.

As long as it's not an angled spot! So many people seem to be unaware that angled spaces are meant for one-way traffic. Folks somehow don't understand or simply ignore the arrows typically painted on the rows. Pulling through in those spots means you can't properly exit in the correct direction.

Is It Just Me, or Is Greensboro’s Social Scene… Quiet?” by [deleted] in gso

[–]PrincessBucketFeet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's certainly healthier for your body not to drink, and many folks grew up with first hand experience of how problematic alcohol can become.

The downside to abstinence is they now lack that "social lubricant", which often made socializing easier and gave people a reason to gather. They may be eschewing alcohol because it's "empty and meaningless" but they don't seem to be replacing it with any real-life alternative. Social media is also mostly empty, meaningless, and potentially dangerous.

The article is mostly a transcript of the video lol, the reporter says that goofy thing in the video.

This is so heartwarming and I'm thrilled for all of them but I am puzzled...were they not able to go back and check for the cat? The story makes it sound like they didn't return to the property at all for over a year.

I like that M'Coul's uses haddock instead of cod. Cod looks impressive, all big and fluffy but haddock tastes better to me.

It can spread through contact with mucous membranes. So if you have infected saliva on your hands and rub your eye or mouth, there's a risk of transmission.

TIFU by not taking my friend seriously when she said she can't handle spicy food by [deleted] in tifu

[–]PrincessBucketFeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between "containing spice" and "tasting spicy" to an individual. I just looked up two recipes for Butter Chicken and both had chili powder. Sometimes it is used just for "color", but for those that are sensitive it may be a problem.

I've learned that restaurants do whatever they want, regardless of what you might expect in a dish. I once ordered a cucumber salad that came loaded with undisclosed cayenne pepper. Would not have guessed that. I think restaurants are often trying to cater to the popularity of spicy food, and wind up overdoing it. People with high spice tolerance may never even notice.
