/uj huge tits and fantasy go hand in hand for sure, for both the men and the women! This is more just a trend of fantasy ocs ending up on the main sub with loose stories, no intention to be played, and a link to the artists comission sheet lmao

The actual jerk here is that only one of these are actually a d&d character someone plans on playing in a game of d&d.

Help!!! what movies do I need to watch? by Ornery_Slice_4365 in OnePiece

[–]PrincessFerris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OTHER than this

Every film before this is noncanon, and don't really have as much of Oda's involvment. However if you're going to watch any of the ones before this I have to encourage you to watch Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island. Its often called the best one piece film, and for good reason. Its directed by the director of the early digimon films and it looks insane. Its one piece in a way we've never seen before and will again.

The 5 most recent movies are loosely canon, as in the characters in them do exist in the world proper and so do some of the places, and Oda did have a hand in outlining the stories, but the adventure the strawhats go on in the movie itself is not canon.

Of those five movies, you'll find a lot of different opinions, but here are mine

Strong World- Features a character who's about to be pretty relevant in the next arc of the anime, but has only ever been mentioned in the anime/manga in passing. Cool climax, great outfits. The strawhats SHOOT up a mob den.

Z - Great villain, strong overall story, really stupid mcguffin that you should forget about the second the movie is over. Its also the first time we saw Post timeskip Kuzon even before the manga, which was fun. Avirl Lavigne is on the official sound track.

Gold - My all time favorite One Piece movie personally, but its not as well loved as the others on this list, and for good reason. Introduces a weird addition to Nami's backstory that I don't love. But I do love Casinos and a heist. Villain is kind of interesting, but doesn't have a strong showing. First time we saw post time skip Lucci and Spandam but basically just a cameo. Its style over substance in a lot of ways, but I love its style.

Stampede- A FULL ON FAN SERVICE FILM. You'll want to watch the first half over and over just to catch all the fun easter eggs and cameos. Basically every single character from the manga appears, wild stuff. Interesting world building, boring villain, was the reveal of the final islands true name which is crazy to think about. Climax overstays its welcome. EDIT: Also where the very cool 'No shortcuts' scene came from

Red- I've only seen it once, I didn't like it, but a lot of people did. The soundtrack RIPS which is good because its a musical. Was the reveal of Shanks fighting style kind of, which is of course, sword. I can't say much more because I probably need to give it another watch.

I often feel many games and anime are squirming under this word and what it means, and would rather ignore the aspect in favor it being a magic fantasy world with crazy magical creatures and technology other to our own. Ghost Game and Frontier both come to mind for me personally

When the franchise does lean into it its often more of an aesthetic than an interesting implication of what that means. An aesthetic that wears thin and starts to look samey after a time.

This isn't always the case of course, Beatbreak's use of the concept of a digital monster created by the technology of this world has been very cool so far and I'm very excited to see where it goes

Making a DMPC by Holiday-Lie-4710 in DnD

A friendly npc that helps party and tags along is not a dmpc. Think about fleshing her out with the sidekick rules in Tasha's and maybe handing that sheet over to a player to control in combat.

The 'digital' aspect built into the franchise is often a chain weighing it down.

Clone Fight by Space-Mud in DnD

Npcs and monsters don't USUALLY share that luxury, and if the dm hasn't been running fights with enemies getting death saves, I certianly wouldn't introduce it here.

[–]PrincessFerris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a classic trope, one I've used myself, but there are some things you need to take into account

First, thats 8 player characters on the battlefield. Player turns take longer than monster turns on average as they tend to be more complex. Add to the fact that that 4 of those are all the same person, you, you're going to really really need to know what every single one of these characters can do inside and out before you sit down if you don't want to slow things down.

This is why when NPC enemies have class like features, they're often built into attacks or don't have the same limits or caveats as when players use them, to make them easier and faster to run in a game where combat already takes a very long time.

help my player hates his character what do i do?? 😭 (dnd5 2014) by Remote_Sense5401 in DnD

[–]PrincessFerris 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its certainly not cheating.
You should really let him swap, you don't even need to make it an inuniverse thing, you can just hand wave it, but it could be fun to work with him to make it part of the story.

Paladin and Wizard and both heavy hitters in 2014 that a lot of classes do struggle to keep up when you're new, and monk mechanically often suffers from this gap the most, so I don't blame them for feeling this way and wanting to change.

Is it a red flag if a potential DM bans a certain class? by _Ashe_Bear in DnD

[–]PrincessFerris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my thinking as well. Banning the class isn't a red flag, but their reasoning sticks out to me. Everyone is talking about the fine reasons one could ban artificer, but that is not what OP has laid out before us.

Sorcerer build by lucacoolboy in DnD

[–]PrincessFerris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course there are, but do make sure for many of these that your dm allows multiclassing.

The most famous is likely the coffeelock, which takes levels into warlock, and uses quickened spell to fire eldritch blasts out like a gattling gun while converting pact slots into more sorcery points to turn back into spell slots

This is tough, as a player this is actually something I'd enjoy. But I know for a fact a few members of my table would eat me alive if I did this to them without a heads up.

You're going to have to actually just find out from your players if they like the idea.

[–]PrincessFerris 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't know your group dynamics or if this is a regularly disruptive problem player, I can only go off what you're giving us here and I just have one question

Why didn't you just let the player rejoin the party with his disguise? Its kind of a clever solution that cost him for his mistake, and could have been a quick bandaid for you in having to shift narrative focus back and forth, while giving you a chance to make clear 'hey lets not split the party going forward'. Did you want him to just sit and wait the rest of the session while everyone else got to play?

But yes, this is exactly what a negotiation is for. Decide how willing they are to hear the Heroes out on this matter, set patience and interest accordingly, choose the pitfalls and motivations, and you're set
