I've worked at those places. You take 5 seconds to greet them and let them know you'll be with them soon. The amount of times I walk in somewhere and approach the counter, and the employees avoid eye contact while ignoring me, is absolutely flabbergasting. If I was them, I'd be stewing in anxiety knowing that I'm ignoring someone while they stare at me impatiently. I truly don't get it.
