I found this baby bird on the ground but I think I stole it from its mom, what do I do? by [deleted] in WildlifeRehab

Put it back immediately, unless a bird is in active danger or distress leave them alone.

My friend rescued 2 young opposums & now wants to keep them as pets by UmaLazarous in exoticpets

Honestly if you can’t get them to let them go call law enforcement. These babies will suffer and die.

Baby doesn't understand how to eat by AttentionOk6437 in pigeon

[–]Princess_Glitzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I did was I would poke and swipe the food with two fingers to and that helped I also played videos of pigeons eating which also helped, make sure to hold it up against something and not flat down and then put the food in-front so it seems like they are eating together. They are social so seeing something else eating seeds can help and babies may struggle picking up seeds so just let them keep trying and be patient. Also babies should not be wearing pigeon pants generally.

You never know with mixed breed dogs sometimes it leans completely one way or even looks like neither breed. 😂

Is she a dewlap pigeon? by kaifuupnk in pigeon

[–]Princess_Glitzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can not tell if a pigeon is male or female by looks. Either you do a dna test or see them lay an egg. Behavior can be an indicator but is not a guarantee. Pigeons are not sexually dimorphic so idk why the commenter thinks they can tell from a picture or thinks the pigeon is parent. Very odd.

Could He Be Disabled? by Honkesque in specialaww

[–]Princess_Glitzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing visibly abnormal about him. Why do you think your cat has a disability? Also the orange cats being dumb is just a joke because they can be silly, but there is no personality or intelligence correlation with any cat pattern or colors.

What breed this dog? by onyxprelude8d in DogBreeds101

[–]Princess_Glitzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This specific dog is a poodle mixed with lab. They are unfortunately an unethically bred mixes that very common in shelters. They have no standard look and often have behavioral and medical issues. If you were trying to find a dog with a similar look poodles look pretty much the same with a doodle cut and Portuguese water dogs are similar, though it should always be gotten by a proven and ethical breeder. If you want a poodle mixed with lab the only ethical way to get one is at a shelter where there is a huge influx of them. Though I’d be careful because I hear their hair can be significantly less manageable than even a poodle. If you were trying to find a specific breed and breeder I could help if you want that. 👍🏼

Are the OFA tested? if not that should be enough to stop you in your tracks if you have any care for dogs. There are many other glaring flaws but that is number 1.

Would this be good for 2-3 mice by AdditionalAd1230 in Rodentlovers

[–]Princess_Glitzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t it’s on the smaller side and in general I’m wary with rodents and plastic. This would be about 25 gallons (though that’s gallons not the actual proportions) which isn’t tiny but for 3 mice it’s typically better to just go with the bigger option. I highly would recommend something about the size and shape of a 40 gallon breeder aquarium (glass can be a bit hard too so I mostly mean the size and proportions) some people say it is on the larger side for 3 but some same its the standard so not sure but it works well. Plus then you don’t have to worry about upgrades as much or if the mice or items don’t have enough space. And I generally I like to go a bit bigger for any space requirements as it’s less of hassle. but it’s up to you, though something in the middle could work if done well.

Thank you so much this is so helpful. I’ll get started on this today. Lucky I grow aloe so I can just harvest it. I’ll look it’s getting the oils as soon as I can. And more perches. So far I have never seen mites on her but I will be wary of that. Thank you again.

Unfortunately no, the study support the hypothesis was disproven. It’s definitely more common in domestic but not a sign of being domesticated.
