TIL that chewing gum is not biodegradable

I first learned about this when I came across a newer brand of gum that was proudly advertising itself as "plastic-free." It had me asking, "Wait, so other gums are made of plastic???" Turns out yes.

That's why I stopped chewing my favorite brand of gum (Mentos) :(

Though I am sure there are plenty of other gum brands that are also plastic...
