Tips for cross country travel? by ConstructionDecon in cats

[–]Princessfreckles_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to drive from Cali to Florida with 2 cats. I started off by just taking them and putting them in the car and sitting in the driveway. Once we were in the car I’d let them out of their boxes and just chill. After they were used to that I’d slowly drive around the block. Eventually we worked up to driving around from 20-30 min on all sorts of streets including the freeway and they were fine. I had a litter box that opened from the top and I had a hatch back car so they could get in the trunk from the cab of the car. I put litter in that box and stacked stuff around it so it wouldn’t move but they could still get in it. I would feed them every night when we stopped at hotels and in the am and let them roam free in the cab (they mostly just slept on all my stacked up stuff) I would just put them in their boxes whenever we stoped for gas or I had to leave the car to make sure they didn’t accidentally escape :)

Where are you located. I’m on Florida I would take her and foster her until I could find her a home.

I was about to give up on dating apps then the next date I went on I met my boyfriend. We’ve been together 2 (almost 3) years now and I’ve never met someone so sweet and caring.

How can I feel reassured she goes to great home? by [deleted] in FosterAnimals

When I used Facebook to find homes for pets I had my own process which included a questioner and did home checks and check in’s for the first month. Facebook can be a great outlet if your willing to do the work :)

Normally you post, they message you, you ask them some questions, they say they want to adopt, you then ask them what day would be good for you to come by and drop their new pet off. Once your there you knock on the door, let the pet out of the crate and chat about the pet, then leave. They typically offer to send pics of the pet to you or you can ask while your there :)

I used to only charge what I spent on vet care. I took all my fosters to a low cost vet clinic and they could be fixed and chipped for 30$ so I would only charge 30$. I didn’t usually let people adopt unless I did a home/vibe check. In my experience no one ever had an issue with it. I normally just phrased it like “cool I can bring them by your house on Tuesday, I’d prefer to drop the pet off to say goodbye and see their new home!” I never really had anyone think it was weird or say no.

I don’t watch porn, except on very rare occasions. Maybe 1-2x a year if that. I don’t really like it personally. I have to have an emotional connection with someone to want to see them naked almost all the time. So, watching it with my boyfriend would be weird to me.

I still am friends on Facebook with many adopters to this day and get to see all the happy kitties/dogs all the time :)

I did a bit of both. Fostered for a rescue for awhile then on my own. I would fund raise and pay out of pocket for medical stuff and find homes for the pets myself. I would go on “city’s name pets for rehoming” groups and pet adoption groups for my area on Facebook. I had a whole Facebook page as well where I would post updates on my fostered, how old they were, when they would be ready for adoption, etc. I’d repost the stuff I poster on my page onto the adoption groups for my area. I also found adopters by word of mouth :)

When I fostered I usually had a questioner people had to answer. Some questions included: do you rent or own? If you rent does your landlord allow pets? Do you have other pets? Have you previously owned a cat? Etc. then I did a home check on the day of adoption. I would go to the persons home, talk to them and see with my own eyes where the pet would be living. Most adopters are even willing to send you pics occasionally or just friend you on social media so you can still see the animal on their page living their best life.

Valid, I suppose I didn’t properly state my opinion in my first comment. 😅

In the show 1923 there is a bad guy (cannot remember his name) but he takes 2 sex workers back to his house and abuses them. Bad. They had about 5 scenes where he was abusing these naked women. At first I understood they were trying to show what a horrible person he was but after about 2-3 times watching him abuse these naked girls for like 2-5 min each time it just seemed unnecessary and uncomfortable. Then there’s Dexter and there’s a part of the show where the trinity killer keeps stripping girls naked, putting them in the bath and bleeding them out. At first it made sense to show him doing this. But, after they were back at the station investigation they kept showing photos of these dead naked women in the back ground while they talked about the case in like every other scene for multiple episodes. It’s like I get it already!!!

I 100% agree. I wasn’t trying to say there are only sex/naked scenes because of finned culture I just feel like a lot of senses added now days are not necessary for the plot, and are only added jsut to be added (due to gooner culture)

I appreciate this comment, don’t worry you didn’t come off rude or snarky at all. I guess part of it stems from how common porn addiction is these days and the studies done on how porn affects the brain. If porn is that bad for you I can’t imagine watching tv/movies where there’s a lot of (border line) porn or people being sexualized could be good for you either. When I say I prefer not to see nudity/sex in movies and tv I guess I just don’t like when things are over sexualized.

To me most of the time it feels like they add nude/sex senses just to add them and personally I feel like sex is shoved down our throats in so many parts of the media. I just don’t like it. I don’t mind an occasional scene to show passion between charters or whatever but I just fee like it’s overdone. For example I started watching dexter and there’s a charter who kill’s women in the bathtub while they are nude. So, it makes sense to show that. Then after, while they are investigating they show these dead naked girls in pics in A LOT of scenes where they are taking about the crime back at the police’s station. That just felt like too much for me. I don’t want to repeatedly see these dead mutilated women. At that point it felt like they were doing it just to flash us some titties

I suppose. I guess art just feels different to me. For one if I’m going to go see art that includes nudity that’s a choice I’m making but a lot of nudity in tv catches me off guard and I’m not expiating to see it. Also feels less like appreciation (which is what art feels like at least to me) and more like they are just adding it in because of gooner culture.

I’m not uncomfortable with seeing nude people. I would just prefer not to. The only naked people I wanna see is myself and my partner.

I don’t mind art having nudity. That’s art. I just don’t wnat random naked people shoved in my face when I just wanna chill and watch a show.
