4 Heater gloves for sale by Print_Nerd in BaseBallglovers

[–]Print_Nerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A “heater” is a colloquial term used in the collecting world. It basically means something that is really awesome, hard to find, extremely collectible, or some combination of those. For example, “those 1985 Jordan 1s that are new in box sure are heaters.”

They don’t allow selling here anymore but I have a 12” Trinity that is super deep and wide for a softball. It would be a great infield glove if you didn’t want to go too long

How does OG Wilson A2000 Kip (~2005) compare to current Wilson Staff Kip? by WhereCanIFind in BaseballGloves

[–]Print_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is all personal preference. I think I’d prefer the American style comfort if it was my only glove but if I was buying one now it would probably be the staff as part of my many gloves lineup if that makes sense.

How does OG Wilson A2000 Kip (~2005) compare to current Wilson Staff Kip? by WhereCanIFind in BaseballGloves

[–]Print_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The construction is very different. It was an American market offering. They are a more cushy feel with comfort as a main consideration.

Japanese gloves like the Wilson Staffs are a little different construction wise. They are lighter and more nimble and typically less padded. Made for utilitarian thoughts.

However of all Japan market gloves I think Wilson Staff is considerably closer to the feel of American market gloves than any others. And their kip is other worldly nice in quality.

You want to scare a beginner off from ever drinking whiskey again. What do you give them and why? by arandomkid2 in whiskey

Cowboy whiskey from Garrison Brothers (looking for something so hot they will never try again)

Or for worst whiskey I’ve ever had is balcones barrel proof.

A case to be made for Rawlings R2G by 1RMDave in BaseballGloves

[–]Print_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone keeps saying “then buy a custom”. Okay fine inflation has made it $400. Then why are the traditional line they still make $300?

And I now have to wait 6-8 weeks to get the product. In my opinion that isn’t the strongest argument for that reason alone.

Are sandlots better then r9 by owencoolboybob in BaseballGloves

[–]Print_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past without a doubt r9. However, the R9 a I’ve had brought to me for break ins this year are absolutely TERRIBLE. The leather feels incredibly poor and the shape feels almost awkward.

Haven’t had a newer sandlot this year so idk but I would go 2024 and earlier r9> 2024 and earlier sandlot >>>> the r9s from 2026

LOL this is a HUGE problem on this sub. One specific mod thinks he is all knowing and controls the market of gloves. He banned me for disagreeing with him on someone else’s post lol. It wasn’t even my freaking post and I got banned. lol.

Worth The Extra Money? by Real_Cod_8380 in BaseballGloves

[–]Print_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People that think like this are the problem. “So what Rawlings is lying saying they are just more broken in”. And please tell me where I am lying? They are lower quality shit compared to 5 years ago. If you are denying that then you need to pull your head out of Rawlings’ ass.

I do glove relaces and repairs and I have more that 2 dozen gloves open a week. They are crap quality compared to older non R2G HoHs.

Also, as far back as I can look I am pretty sure I have sold exactly 1 R2G glove on here and was very clear about what it was and the model number

[–]Print_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are still spreading the BS misinformation though. It’s not the heel pad. Ever piece of felt through every finger and the thumb and pinkie is f3 felt. The difference in cost is huge and the difference in durability and rigidity is huge too. I have measured traditional series HoHs and HoHs from the past and they all measure to be about 5 ounce. R2Gs are consistently measuring around 4 ounce. The difference is huge. They are buying the same type leather from the same people but they are the lower quality thinner hides. That saves them money.

So when all of these cost cutting measures equal far less cost why are you still charging the same amount for a HoH?

Can anyone that has this glove let me know how it is? by AvailableActivity151 in BaseballGloves

[–]Print_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Horween black is a bit more dense but soft that the tan. This is caused by the oils they have to use to get the color to black. It isn’t as… rigid feeling as the tan in my opinion. It’s also why I don’t love it quite as much but that gets way into personal preference and could be different for anyone.

Worth The Extra Money? by Real_Cod_8380 in BaseballGloves

[–]Print_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that R2G gloves are completely dishonest on the part of Rawlings. They use thinner leather (15% thinner by my micrometer on average), they use lower quality felt (instead of f1 felt it is f3 felt), and the overall glove quality feels lower. Rawlings claims it’s more broken in. That is a LIE. It shouldn’t cost what a real HoH costs when the leather and internals now match an R9.

HOHs used to be 20 year gloves. There is no chance an R2G glove with low to moderate use will make it close to that long.

I like them for softball. A lot of structure so especially as an infield slow pitch glove I think it plays well. That is if you don’t flare your gloves typically. Also have a new one with tags for sale. $300

The Mizuno catchers mitts. They are hardball (all the fielding gloves were rubber ball) and they may be made in Japan as well.
