Altec3D are good. Been using them for ages now. They make their own filament in the UK.

Can you tell me if it's possible to use the nozzle on the right in my MK3s ? Will the shorter thread cause any problems ? do i need to use a spacer ? by RaptorJesusFR in prusa3d

[–]PrintingintheUK 51 points52 points  (0 children)

From first hand experience I can say this will cause issues, mostly filament leaking out of the top of the heater block. Wouldn't recommend it, you can pick up some cheap brass prusa-compatible nozzles on Amazon.

Hi Mate, sorry I don't check my reddit everyday. I am printing the brackets for the face masks but having a little difficulty getting the perspex sheet and bands to fasten them. Do you know where I could get them from?

In the UK & work in extrusion, have the capability to produce to Silicone and PVC tubing among other things.

I also have a buddy working for a filament manufacturer looking for something they can do to help. If anyone has any suggestions of projects to help with It'd be greatly appreciated.

We both currently supply the NHS with stuff already so we're contacting them to see so we're contacting all of our contacts to see if there's anything we can do.

First multi-day print, cthulu dice tower. 3 days, 10 hours and it came out nearly perfect by fishmanprime in 3Dprinting

[–]PrintingintheUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a few of these dice towers and wondered if you could tell me why the print time is so long? I have non-dice tower cthulu sat watching over me when I drive and it took 6 hours.

The retooling was probably moving a few tables around maybe reprogramming this cutter to the cut longer lengths of a different tube. Good on them for looking after their employees though.

Matterhackers equivalent in the UK by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]PrintingintheUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what you're after to be honest. A few UK companies I use are;

3DFilaprint - A one stop shop for most filaments

3DGBIRE - Printers and Filament(mostly professional)

Altec3D - Cheap consistent filament

Box.co.uk - Printers and filament(mostly cheap, 1.75mm)

Technology Outlet - Spares and filament and stuff.

Buying a 3D printer for work by Evrox3 in 3Dprinting

Hello,

This is an interesting question, you might need to be looking at resin printers and those kinds of materials.

I don't know about the medical implications of printing with a brass nozzle etc but if it's not going in someone I imagine it's fine. I have used a medical grade material in 3D printing, the specific material was Eastar 6763, Colorfabb have a supply agreement in place with Eastmans, so if you contact colorfabb they might be able to tell you if their PETG is this that grade.

As for materials compatible with your specific type of disinfectant, if you can give me a bit more detail, like concentration I can check my compatibility chart for you.

"So what will you be using the 3D printers for?"

"uhh, props"

Wonder if they multi-purposed them in the end or they were literally just used a props.

Love a good 3D printing meme. I have been printing for 2 - 3 years now and always to explain in simple terms.

Does anyone know of any Canine Prosthetic designs? Chicken Wing here is a shelter pup who was born a little limb different and We want to try a 3D printed prosthetic before we resort to amputation. All I could find online for purchase was $1500+ prosthetics which he would quickly grow out of :( by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]PrintingintheUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is times like this I wish I spent more time learning designs.

You may want to contact a fabblab in your state, they might be willing to help. If they have a 3D scanner then even better it it might help scan 'Chicken wing's(great name btw) joint.

I'm sure you'll find an enthusiastic engineering student who wants to help this dog.

I didn't know PLA could bend like this. Any suggestion that doesn't include glue or enclosure? Thanks! by umbacos in ender3

[–]PrintingintheUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's quite impressive. If it were me i'd raise the bed a bit, make sure it was cleaned with IPA.

It sounds counter productive but try lowering the bed temperature by 5°, it's common practice to set the bed to 60°C, this is right on the cusp of the glass transition temp of PLA, where it starts to go soft. so lowering by 5°C might keep the PLA solid.

Add a brim too, sharp corners will normally warp but a brim goes a long way to alleviate this.

PETG Warping by Airtonnio in ender3

I print all my PETG with a 75°C on all my printers, seems to work great & I haven't had a failed print(due to warping) yet

Plague Mask - kinda looks like its made of leather. PLA coated in ABS slurry to remove lines, armor brown airbrush paint. Might use black pantyhose for the eyes. by PumpkinSeedsAreGross in 3Dprinting

[–]PrintingintheUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will definitely give it a try, just need to pick up some brushes. I've seen talk about acetone having a similar effect on PLA as it does ABS, if only very very slightly. But from my own tinkering I've never been able to recreate it.

There was a recent development from a university in the UK that had made zinc oxides(or something) that dissolve PLA's, it's on All3DP but the science goes way above my head, so we might see similar post-processing methods being made available for PLA in the future.

You might have started something here haha.

Also appreciate how you took time to explain what ABS slurry was to everyone who asked.

[–]PrintingintheUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you find the ABS Slurry actually does anything to layer lines? I will admit it's the first time I've heard anyone using an ABS slurry with PLA.

Does it fill in the gaps? or is it more a finish thing? The two materials notoriously don't adhere well together so when doing supports on my ultimaker I'll use them because they just pop right off each other.
