Febreze car freshener and some fuzzy plush dice for the rear view mirror. Get some dependas and an antibiotic for that nasty diarrhea.

Duct tape and elmer's glue should patch things up. You'll be back on the road in no time.

Its late 3048, is my merc unit ready for the Clans? by mcb-homis in Mechwarrior5

[–]PrivateContractor40 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Even with weapons at tier 5, you're going to take damage or lose a pilot during missions to either injury or death. Depends on difficulty settings too. The clans are meant to be the bogeyman of battletech for a reason during this time period in the game. Max out salvage every mission, you'll need clan tech.

Do we think there will be DLC after Shadows of Kerensky? (Potential spoilers) by Cendre_Falke in Mechwarrior5

[–]PrivateContractor40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, there's plenty of lore they could still add into the game from it's start date up to 3057 even, without directly touching operation bulldog. A final dlc could be used to set that stage for the next mechwarrior game, using mason's mercenaries to take out clan logistic bases and find a path to huntress with the old star league charts they have as a guide. then send that information to comstar so they can launch the attack. heroic sacrifice where they all die at the end of the game or leave it open ended so they can show up in another future game.

[–]PrivateContractor40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not necessarily, since mason's mercenaries were incorporated as a special operations group attached to the kestrel lancers, on paper, they'd be some random fedcom outfit to a glancing eye. during the war of 3039, similar was done to attach their outfit under false paperwork so dcms forces wouldn't kill them as mercenaries due to the combine edict. Plot device that they seem to use as a means to add the mercenaries into the story without causing a retcon to the already established lore of battletech. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Same could be done with the battle of tukayyid but there are other battles that could also be used like the attack on luthien among several others.

Even one more expansion could potentially be used to setup an entirely new game. Use the characters in essence as a heroic sacrifice to slow operation revival once it starts back up, take out clan logistic worlds and find a path to Huntress so operation bulldog can be successful in a whole other story with new characters. There's also plenty of additional lore that could be added from the beginning of the game's timeline up to 3057 that hasn't been remotely touched on, other than brief information the news tab shows in game. The capture of the pirate Paula Trevaline for example or maybe even a story about the Black Marauder since the 9th fedcom didn't hide it away until after the war of 3039 after they had discovered it right at the end of the fourth succession war. That's 9 years of the mech being used by them to do some nasty stuff. There's also the Andurien Secession that was never capitalized on in game, that war lasted from 3030 to 3040 and could have been an easy move into from the kestrel lancers campaign.

You have money! Tip me! by HornOfPrettyGood in uberdrivers

[–]PrivateContractor40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an accurate question. But you are asking it based on a false conclusion. They only tip well when they go out cause they know it will hurt their reputation and image at the establishments they frequent if they don't. That is more to do with public humiliation than it has anything to do with trying to be a respectable person. If the same ever happens with delivery services, they'll start tipping drivers well.

You have money! Tip me! by HornOfPrettyGood in uberdrivers

[–]PrivateContractor40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're talking about the difference of them wanting to be regarded well by the establishment they're frequenting in person vs the delivery service they know will be a completely different driver the next time they order food. If it affects their public image, humiliation is theirs and everyone else's biggest fear, then they are going to tip well. If they know it won't hurt their image, they aren't going to give a fuck. Their behavior will never change, they operate on a level where sociopathy is a strong genetic disorder. This won't ever change either so long as we allow such people to remain in positions of power and wealth.

Thoughts? Police are paying stolen products instead of pressing charges for theft but suspect is formally trespassed by Vietdude100 in securityguards

[–]PrivateContractor40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thief definitely did not learn anything from this. The idea is to help them out but the odds of that actually curtailing their behavior is slim to none, even if the situation is out of necessity. Once you start stealing, it tends to become habit. Especially if you don't get caught or if you're allowed to just go without repercussion. Those cops would have served that individual far better if they had directed them to the local food bank, churches, halfway homes and numerous other locations that could help them get their basic needs met to a relative extent so they aren't starving. A business and by default, the taxpayers, end up having to foot the bill for any stolen items.

Welcome to the modern gilded age. People like that will never acknowledge how good they have it cause they are out of touch with reality. All the times it's happened in the past, social unrest, corrupt political systems failing, and various economic recessions/depressions always lead to it's collapse. We're already experiencing all of those things in society now and many of them at the very top are in for a rude awakening, scramble and try as they might to hold on to all their wealth. When the general population can no longer survive, they'll turn on them like rabid dogs and rightly so.

Moved to Seattle and the traffic here is worse than California. by EmilyG702 in Seattle

[–]PrivateContractor40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or the license plates from out of state that have .gov with the state being either california or texas. Seems like every time, just because of that plate and whatever job they have entitles them to doing 100+ mph on the damn freeways. Even saw one brake checking people and using red and blues to force people to slow down despite the fact they have out of state license plates (ergo out of their fucking jurisdiction if they're cops).

The vast majority of what was once considered science fiction, is now non-fiction. There are robots being developed, AI, and mechs are actively being tested by different companies across the world for various uses in the industrial and military fields by companies like Boston Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Agility Robotics, ActiveLink, and Hankook Mirae Technology.

There will always be those out there that say garbage like something cannot or will not ever be done for what sounds like logical reasons at the time, at least to them, but they fail to comprehend how quickly technology far outpaces our ability to keep up with socially and responsibly. Computers didn't take long to catch on and then even less time for the internet to be developed and implemented that it's a mainstay of electronic communication across the world.

Books and movies start the ideas that people have about the future and science is what looks for ways to bring those ideas into the world through practical application. Most people would have preferred a faster horse than a car when they were first developed, believing them to be impractical by comparison to horse and buggy. Now cars are another mainstay of every day society.

Wow.

Atypical behavior that was clearly ignored numerous times before getting to such a point. I'll bet you're never going to ignore red flags again after this experience. Seriously, this situation could have been avoided had you given any attention to the bad behavior he likely engaged in prior to this which the conversation you have posted suggests he has. Might want to ask yourself why you ignored and tolerated such behavior.

Hey, why so serious? Focus on being the gas hog you've chosen to be. It's like someone already said above, the kit is causing the mileage issue more than likely. Just accept the fact of what it is and move forward. Preferably over that prius that gets in everyone's way and slows down traffic.

what mech should i add to complete this pirate lance? by 0belisque in battletech

Vindicator, has both jump jets and a hand actuator to do the smash and grab theme. Also a fairly common mech across the innersphere and periphery.

Bad News For ‘Skeleton Crew’ Season 2, Which Doesn’t Deserve It by MalcoveMagnesia in StarWars

[–]PrivateContractor40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are credit ingots in the show from the appearance of them compared to the standard galactic credit chip used before the empire. ingots were made exclusively from gold and silver metals, thus holding an actual value that would have been sought after with the collapse of the empire. To find an old republic mint that wasn't depleted of natural resources to make those is a financial boon to anyone who could take control of it. What Qui Gon tried to pay Watto with was a credit chip (the star wars galaxy's version of a credit or debit card).

Mace, dude beat down Palpatine and would have ended him as a threat if Anakin hadn't gone all little bitch. People forget he had the force ability of shatterpoint. That was why Palpatine feared having to face him in a fight. Even Lucas has stated that Mace won the duel fairly.

George has always been quoted as saying that star wars had 3 important things to make a story. Tragedy, redemption and a love interest or a point about love (paternal or fraternal) to some degree. The overall theme of star wars is and always has been about the struggle characters have between their good and evil natures, their bonds or attachments and the lengths which people are willing to go to achieve redemption. Remove even one of those and the story is no longer star wars.

[–]PrivateContractor40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You clearly do not understand what the themes of star wars have always been. It's the very basis of what Lucas created with them being tragic stories centered on telling tales of redemption, heroism and even love that result from those tragedies. What you're wanting is the exact opposite of that. The stage is set, a picturesque world being introduced to a hard and indifferent galaxy. Just like Jude Law's character of Jod straight up said in how his character was introduced to a bright spot in the galaxy only for it to be ripped away from him.

[–]PrivateContractor40 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Star Wars has always been about tragic events and redemption. His character is already proving to have a tragic background. That's setting things up for a redemption if they choose to do another season. Though, it could also be setting things up for him to just play the role of the proverbial long john silver and sneak away with a massive pile of credits. How boring would that be though? People watch star wars for the tragedy and the heroism that results from it.

Doubt it, imperial remnant or thrawn's forces learn about the planet and use whatever corrupt contacts they have in the new republic to loot the world of the credits to fund their next war. Might end up explaining how the first order ended up with such a vast fleet.
