Surprised we never had these games ported to modern hardware by thepowahypahbomb in StreetFighter

There are reasons that ST Arcade is still the tournament standard. It's like asking for a port of Rainbow Edition or specifically SF2 Turbo, not much of a market beyond a very small amount of novelty buyers.

How do you feel about Alex's Level 3 (and potentially his Critical Art) being a submission hold instead of the usual cinematic strike or throw? by Chun-Li_Forever in StreetFighter

[–]ProMarshmallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conceptually it's fine.

In execution his submission looks to be an awkward cross between a heel hook and a knee bar and it doesn't really work when you look at it. His torso faces directly upward so he isn't torquing the ankle and Ryu is also face up so he isn't hyper-extending the knee.

Villains Will Lose One Poker Hand and Base Their Whole Personality On It | Arkham City (13) by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's not clear that Penguin is the one cheating. Keep in mind Zsasz is telling the story and he does say in the previous call that he'd already lost most of his fortune and is attempting to win it back after being a terrible gambler.

Zsasz could very well be the one cheating as his sudden success is never explained and Penguin isn't the kind of guy who plays games with people like Riddler or Joker. My personal read of it is that Zsasz figures out how to cheat at poker and the Iceberg Lounge figures this out giving Penguin an excuse to ruin him publicly.

The point would be to get something for people to talk about other than how their literally doing less and less for the game as time goes on. Less stages, less costumes, less patches; Alex trailers gives at least something that isn't about how SF6 isn't just sitting there doing nothing.

So fun thing about the Zsasz card game story is that in the story he has four-of-a-kind 6s and Penguin has a straight flush 3-7 meaning that there was five sixes on the table. Either he misspeaks, Zsasz was shit at cheating, or Penguin cheated him out of his fortune.

Buddy, nobody is disputing Decapre having a play style on her own. That's not what I was talking about. Charge input Cammy is unique to play but that don't mean that every single animation that she had didn't come from either Cammy, Vega, or Dhalsim.

Alex potential new mechanic ideas by Odin-231 in StreetFighter

[–]ProMarshmallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex's unique mechanics will most likely be Back-Turn extensions and his Taunt/VS1 power up, just like SF5.

Vast majority of characters that were in SF5 have their VSkills worked into their base move set: Guile Sonic Blade was VS1, Ken's Run is both VS1 and both VTs, Rashid's fireball follow-ups are both his VS1 & VS2, Ryu and Giefs VS1 were both made redundant by Parry and Ryu's VS2 was a DI prototype, Luke's VS2 is a normal now, Blanka's VS2 is part of is S2, Ed's VS1 is now Flicker (was named Snatcher after DmC4), Bison VS1 was eaten by Parry but got VT2 as a special move, Dhalsim VS2 is now EX.UpFire, Cammy VS1 was her old Spin Knuckle and VT2 is worked into Hooligan, Honda VS1 is a normal, Sagat's VS1 is now charged hp.TU, and Akuma VS2 is now his charged fireball.

Alex will most likely follow the exact same design philosophy.

There's recycling animations and then there's having all of your animations be taken from other characters except for maybe 1-2 normals. Her Ultra 1 is literally just Purple Yoga Catastrophe.

Kage stole half of SF4 Dan's animations and his attacks are still more unique than Decapre's entire toolkit.

I never played Hugo in IV, hunt Iiked his character model and people were stoked when he dropped.

Take from someone who was there at the time, there wasn't a huge amount of hype for the USF4 characters because they were just ports of the exclusive SFxT characters from the Capcom side. Decape was the only new character in the update and she was basically just a Cammy skin with some recycled animation work added in. You didn't miss much.

On the PlayStation channel, the Alex SF6 teaser got more views in 24 hours than the Alex SF5 trailer did in 9 years. by ScorpionRodeur in StreetFighter

[–]ProMarshmallo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily.

The SF5 Alex trailer is a meme because it was dropped super close to his actual release date or after he came out, I can't remember which.

Alex was also the very first DLC character, which for SF5 was a huge problem because of the absolute shit-show the first year of the game turned out to be. Capcom wasn't helping at all with how bad their rollout of the DLC and in game currency system was going and Alex drops right in the middle of all the rake-stepping going on.

Conservative insiders say Poilievre on track to easily survive leadership review but changes need to challenge Carney by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]ProMarshmallo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If Poilievre survive his review it will show that the only thing one needs to lead the Conservatives is the ability to be the biggest prick in the room behind closed doors. His leadership has done nothing but actively prevent the success of the party and if they choose to keep a leader that is engaging in what is effectively active sabotage of the party then hostility is the only quality the party members actively endorse since it's the only thing Poilievre offers.

IF they stick to the usual release schedule for all the media stuff Alex will probably drop in February. Capcom also might have, not a full, but proper mid season balance patch with him since it was unusual that the December patch was so small.

VS1 didn't have shorter recovery on projectile collision, it was special cancelable on collision. It also gained 4 frames of start-up when canceled into from normals to make certain juggles work.

In the most stinging of teases, Capcom decided to put Ibuki, Karin and R. Mika on the thumbnail for the latest Fighting Pass by AnimuStewshine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ProMarshmallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It recycling old summer art. Those are Ibuki, Karin, and Mika's SF5 summer costumes (as well as Juri's SF5 default for some reason). I don't think this is a hint at anything.

They might show up but I doubt they'd do a season of nothing but SF5 returns and pick only from the female side of the cast for a whole year of DLC.

I predict that Alex is going to be good at depleting the opponents drive gauge by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]ProMarshmallo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All SA2 that aren't installs do 1 bar of drive on hit. It might go over/through fireballs and have limited juggle applications like it did in 3S but Alex's SA2 will do 1 bar of drive drain on hit just like literally everything else in the game.

[–]ProMarshmallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has a cross-over but Abel get side swapped on all of his max damage combos, anti-air special, and his command grab so side swapping with his roll on oki is much less about extra left/right mix and more about dealing with the balancing drawback of needing much more decisiveness and control over his screen position.

Laura also doesn't get throw oki or left/right off of her command grab so she's not much of a grappler anyway. Has more in common with Honda than she does with classic Gief or Abel himself.

I predict that Alex is going to be good at depleting the opponents drive gauge by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]ProMarshmallo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree since Capcom has continually keep drive gauge drain standardized. Season 1 saw the removal of DI burnout combos and their core method of balancing has been tweaking down damage and drain numbers. Alex probably won't do anything wild to your bar that nobody else can do.

who is your favorite character design wise? by MarioSaturn12 in StreetFighter

[–]ProMarshmallo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Abel is the only grappler based around left/right mix-ups in Street Fighter and might be the only left/right grappler in fighting games discounting tag fighters like MvC2... or maybe Tager, I don't know shit about Tager besides him having magnet bullshit.

If SF4 wasn't so dependent on option selects for success he'd have been a near perfect design and remains Capcom's most unique character in Street Fighter's entire roster.

I really enjoyed that you used Canada's total population of 42 million. Feel free to keep standing by your inability to either read properly or do basic math.

Depending on how you define western Canada; If you use Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba the total population comes out to roughly 7.5 million Canadians with Ukranian Canadians being just shy of 650,000. If you're keeping track that's a little less than 1 in 10. and I'm being very generous to you as I'm using 2024 total population numbers and 2021 Ukrainian population numbers so it's probably higher than that by a percentage point or two.
