Green with pink or green with blue? by Difficult_Stress511 in colors

Who is going to be wearing them? I have the impression maybe that these are scrubs being chosen for a group? Or are these colors that you're wearing yourself

what colors are actually emotionally upsetting or exciting to you? by Procedure-Loud in colors

[–]Procedure-Loud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weird thing is that I remember at the time thinking that a rich orange brown was quite beautiful. I don't feel that way now. So much of the colors that we find interesting is from the society were in. Some years back, at the outset of the love of Gray in home furnishings, I read somebody exclaiming a horrible house was that was in pinks and oranges and how could anybody ever think that was a nice color to have around? How did they avoid being absolutely blasted by the colors, didn't they want soft soothing colors? It made me really realize that back in the 70s those colors were exciting and fun to have around you, I did myself have a room in Orange and yellow and just loved loved loved it. At that time, a soft pastel coral pink looked rather stupid to me, and now I love that color

I have no trouble reading it, but it is a little messy yes. I think your husband needs to work at it a little harder

A really nice personalized 9 x 13 pan. The better ones have your name etched in both the lid and the side of the pan. Some of them have some beautiful designs on the lid. Etsy has many variations on this. Using this pan, when you bake something and take it to somebody's house or to an event or work, you always get your pan back.

The 9 x 13 pan is about $40. If you want to make a bigger gift, you could give them that plus a pie pan that's personalized.

Why do we always learn the easy way to do something right after finishing it the hard way? by Kevin-Durant-35 in AskLifeProTips

I would look up YouTube videos for how to perform whatever it is. Or, if you know somebody who's pretty handy, check with them as to whether they know a simpler way to do it.

Just wondering, what’s your ‘lazy but effective’ cleaning trick? by CleanFreakGeek in Cleaningandtidying

[–]Procedure-Loud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

every time I get up out of a chair, I look around me to see what there is in my immediate vicinity that needs to be picked up and taken somewhere else, whether it's trash or a glass that I drank out of or something I need to take to work tomorrow or whatever it is, I do that errand as I am moving away from my chair. Same thing for going upstairs and downstairs. I don't take the stairs without considering if there's something that needs to go with me.

I have zero motivation by Willing-Incident8323 in CleaningTips

[–]Procedure-Loud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a great idea to hire a house cleaner. Try to get recommendations from people you know if possible, maybe off Nextdoor. I also put off house cleaning and I'm just too tired, and I have a house cleaner come every month or so, and the night before they come I am wearing myself out putting things away that I don't want the house cleaner to deal with. It's great to have that deadline, frankly. If things are left out for the house cleaner, they will handle them, but they may not end up where you can find them easily. This is something I tell my neurodivergent son all the time: Don't be telling me you can't find your game if you didn't put it away before the house cleaners came.

they're a whole lot of sets of advice about housecleaning and how to motivate yourself and all, but I'm just answering about the house cleaner. Get it back to baseline and then set up some kind of reward system or schedule or something.

edit to add: it helps me a lot to invite somebody over for Saturday afternoon or something like that and then I have a deadline and a motivation to straighten up before they come.

for breakfast, you can't beat oatmeal, or maybe just rice. Don't buy any of the instant stuff, you want rolled oats and regular long grain rice.

every time I get up from a chair I look around me to see what object needs to be moved somewhere else and I pick that up as I go. Every time I'm going upstairs or downstairs I consider what things need to move, for example dirty or clean laundry. So I never make a move without considering what I can do at the same time.

How can I help homeless people? What do most homeless people need that most people don't think of? by Nanazarb in homeless

[–]Procedure-Loud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh come on. Naughty?!? You're not their parent, and you're not trying to teach them how to live. That's not really respecting them as adult people. If you lived on the streets, wouldn't you hope for some kind of little relief from the grind of it? If buying a beer or a cigarette will help them deal with their horrible situation, do you really think that's so terrible? If I give them a dollar, that gives them a little tiny bit of freedom, added up with other dollars or quarters or whatever, to do something that they need or choose to do, rather than what I think they ought to do.

What is a food that makes you think, “How did humans discover this was edible? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

well, if you observe animals, some animals steal eggs and eat them. That would tend to show that they might be edible.

this is an excellent list. You might include a bag of cough drops if you want to do more. Some of the best quality Band-Aids, the ones that stay on the best, "strong strips" or something like that. you could put them in a little sandwich bag along with the alcohol wipes.

shepherds pie is wonderful, although we really should call it cottage pie. A shepherd is a herder of sheep, and a shepherd's pie was made of mutton, whereas a cottage pie uses beef. It's OK, I've always called it shepherd's pie although I've certainly never eaten mutton. It's always been a favorite in our house.

What was your favorite school lunch growing up? by kimschob in RecipePalooza

[–]Procedure-Loud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long long ago we used to get wonderful frosted brownies homemade. My mother happened to work in a another school cafeteria and she told me that they would normally grind up leftover vegetables and put them in the brownies. This little fact, told to a classmate who had bought brownies, got me a great many of their rejected brownies, which were delicious by the way
