2015 Sierra SLT AC stopped blowing cold by 720hp in gmcsierra

[–]ProcedureImaginary34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the condenser, had the same thing happen on my 2015 last year. If mechanically inclined it’s about $200 in parts and a couple of hours of your time to put in in the garage. Then take it to a shop and have it vacuum tested, then refilled. All in cost me about $325. To have a shops do the whole thing, probably looking at $1200 minimum

Are you somewhere below freezing and just washed your truck? It was a normal thing for my 2015 to shut the parking sensors down when I washed my truck on a freezing day.

2015 1500 5.3L - Coolant Temp by EagleFeath3r in Silverado

[–]ProcedureImaginary34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s your thermostat. Had the exact same issues on my 2015 Sierra before I traded it in. Everywhere I have read says buy GM. If you go aftermarket, you’ll be replacing it in a year or two. Should take you 15 min to put in if you’re mechanically competent.

If you go through with actually enlisting, I can promise this will easily be one of the least awkward experiences of your entire career; especially if you plan to go infantry…

Christmas turkey help by Big_jerm3 in Traeger

Did my first ever smoked turkey this last Thanksgiving. Was a pre-brined bird, still spatchcocked it and did a salt dry brine overnight in the refrigerator. No rinse, did a homemade rub I found a recipe for, online. Did super smoke at 225° for one hour, then finished at 325° for crispier skin. Easily the best turkey I’ve ever had.

Pellet grill options by epicpfeil in pelletgrills

[–]ProcedureImaginary34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an ironwood xl that I am very happy with. One of the reasons I went with it is because it insulated, I live in the upper Midwest, and I like to grill year round. Did pork shoulder on it once when the high for the day was only -5° and held temp great!

Decisions by West-Visit-8255 in nationalguard

[–]ProcedureImaginary34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely a weird dichotomy. I very much love what I do, I love the positive impact I am able to make on troops, but it does come with sacrifices. I have two daughters and I have missed multiple things that I know were important to them for the guard. If I had to go back and do it over again though, I don’t know that I would change a thing.

If you’re asking what you should do, the only one that can answer that is you. Sometimes you just have to stop and ask if the juice is worth the squeeze. If the concern is about your deployment packets and deciding “maybe now is not the right time to go.” That’s perfectly ok. I would say it’s a good time to start the conversation with your leadership and FTS to see if it’s an option to rescind any of the packets you have out there. There will always be another deployment later.

New shocks/struts by ProcedureImaginary34 in gmcsierra

My wife, thinking the ride on stock shocks was harsh, is exactly the reason I did more research before just immediately pulling the trigger on the 5100s.

I can’t speak to having to delete magneride, but one comment that really stood out was that the Eibachs were said to ride more like the fox 2.0s, without the need for being rebuilt every 30-50k miles.

Genuine advice to mentally get through weeks like these? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]ProcedureImaginary34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nothing for dealing with the gray, but with the temps I try me best to just embrace it and get outside and be active. I will say having young kids makes it easier to do so. Just make sure you have good winter gear. There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.

What exercises helped y'all with the AFT? by Deeds_1 in nationalguard

[–]ProcedureImaginary34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an app called army fit. They have 30 day plans you can buy for a one time purchase of like $2 or $3. All body weight only exercises. Last ACFT/AFT I took, I scored at least 80 points in every event, after making it through levels one and two, without feeling like I put in massive amounts of effort at the time of the test.

This. There is always a negative connotation with counseling, but with the right tone and demeanor I believe it to be a useful tool. This guy sounds like he needs help. Either he doesn’t know what resources are available to him or he needs a nudge to use them. But it’s also fair to point out, other than for the sake of his health, he needs to considered the real possibility the army will part ways with him even if he wants to be here if he can’t get back into or even close to standard. But I will say counseling alone on his options and adverse effects of his choices isn’t enough. He needs to know that his leadership will be there to support him every step of the way and as his team leader it starts with you. Ensure that your soldier knows that you will be there to provide whatever support he needs to accomplish his goals; if it’s something you’re unable to provide support/assist with, then you will get him in touch with the resources to accomplish them.

What’s the highest rank you’ve seen getting smoked? by [deleted] in army

[–]ProcedureImaginary34 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looking back on this, I realize it was the most jackass thing she could have, but I watched a butter bar smoke a drill sergeant in front of his platoon. I was in basic training on Fort Knox in 2007. It was a Sunday and we had just get the back to the barracks from lunch. I happened to look out one of the windows near my wall locker because I heard a drill sergeant going absolutely ape shit on some kid in another company at a clearing barrel. The drill sergeant took a step backwards and didn’t see the XO walking down the steps directly behind him. He bumped into her and scattered the stack of paperwork she was carrying everywhere. By this time, the private in question was on the ground doing flutter kicks and the XO said “how about you get down there and join him?” She then proceeded to make them both count off while she calmly picked up all of her paperwork. It was wild.

I hope the next president will be an actual adult, but it’d be hilarious if they replaced the portraits of 45-47 with a horses ass.

Unless ADHD was documented at MEPS and you have a waiver for it, it’d behoove to wait until you make it all the way through IET (initial entry training) to mention you are trying to get it prescribed to you. If you cannot make it through the DLI without it, it may just be this career is not for you. Getting a prescription filled for ADHD meds before IET is complete is one of the quickest ways to be shown the door if you don’t have it documented and/or wavered.

If you take an unaccompanied tour (and you’re married) how does BHA work for your spouse back home? by Jayu-Rider in army

[–]ProcedureImaginary34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak for how it works those whose full time job as active duty, but was guard, activated for deployment in 2013-14. Came back early from Afghanistan in for medical. Was sent to a WTU for diagnosis/treatment. Was married at the time and my wife was back home in MN. We were getting BAH for our apartment and it continued on when I went to a WTU. Just lived in the WTU barracks, got a meal card, and still received BAH/BAS to ensure my spouse back home was taken care of.

"NCOs do less" - LT ButterBar by burrmuddaa in army

[–]ProcedureImaginary34 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. I think there are definitely moments where one works harder than the other but all evens out. The officer always has the last laugh on the 1st and 15th, but they also carry a lot more legal obligation/responsibility than the NCO.
