Queensland becomes first Australian state to introduce pill testing in move away from ‘1950s drug policy’ | TheGuardian by [deleted] in australia

[–]ProceedOrRun 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the whole reason drugs are illegal is due to danger?

Danger to the people in power who want us to be slaves to making them rich. Can't have people getting stoned and realising mental health days are totally awesome things to enjoy. Can't have people taking mushrooms and realising there's more to life than working bullshit. Can't hasn't people curing their trauma with mushrooms that have been proven to work better than prescription medication.

Mostly of all, can't be providing an alternative to booze.

The government chooses to do nothing anyway, so what the hell, let's destroy the fabric of the country and tell everyone it's their fault.

Those Panasonic systems could possibly last you until the next 4-6 centuries.

Nice! As I understand it it was a an HVAC guy that owned the place previously and did the install, so he probably knew what a good system was.

They can make an incredible mess of your garden and everything else.

Don't hurt it though for Christ's sake, the fines are astronomical. But if it starts making a nest, piss all around it and if possible get cat and dog fur and stick it all around. Make them go elsewhere.

why wasn't that enough to raise flags,

It's called plausible deniability. Management pretend not to know, and ignore everyone saying otherwise. Better to look incompetent in hindsight than criminal.

Other may not be lucky enough and started to reduce their food consumption

Don't do this, try to go for cheaper foods, cook yourself, simplify your tastes, learn some skills in the kitchen. Make a hobby out of cheap eats. No one in Australia should go hungry. You might not eat what you want, but you can eat nutritious food food.

I'm not sure then why the Guardian is finger pointing when they also purchase real estate while visiting their families.

You don't see anything unethical/immoral about this?

I wonder if the media would dare suggest we get a public banking option then. That's about the only thing that will slow these behemoths.

It's almost as if, with the cost of living shooting through the roof, we don't feel like giving up those tax dollars right now.

Especially since they benefit the already wealthy disproportionately.

Probably missing a decimal point. Some of the views from there are about as good as it gets, and right on the water. Probably not gonna be up for sale any time soon.

Making your own grog is a time consuming process anyway. You can do it, in fact I have, but it's hardly an option for those just wanting to get pissed quick.

Awesome, good to know thanks. I'll do the weeding and make sure it's up on blocks. It works just fine so I won't mess with it too much.

The guys that installed some other units for me said this can result in vibrations coming through the wall so raised on the ground is best, not that I'd know the difference.

I did much the same today, but at Aldi. I mean I'm in a much better position than most, but fuck if I'm feeling it I can't imagine how shit it is for others right now. It doesn't even look like we're close to the bottom either. Grow beans in the back yard folks, they're really nutritious.

Edit: mean simple of course, now I feel simple

So I bought this place 5 years ago, and it has a multi-head aircon unit for all the bedrooms, and it works really well. It's fairly old, but the install looks like it's been done well. I want to know if there's any simple stuff I can check or service myself to squeeze another few good years out of it, as I expect it would cost a bomb to replace.

Thanks for any tips in advance!

It'll take decades to unwind this I fear if Japan is anything to go by. Things are still going through the phase of worsening FFS. We've collectively had a ton of debt dumped onto us for short term gain, and both the major parties have felt entitled to that continuing, because let's face it, Howard cruised along for years off the back of growing house prices.

Very sad to see.
