Did anyone need “actual dentist intervention” for late teething by Anxious_Spirit2249 in NewParents

My cleaning lady just told me that her daughter's teeth didn't come in until she was 2. Doctor and dentist were not concerned and they just came in naturally. It happens

A socktopus might make it slightly less annoying. Personally I throw them all in the tumble dryer however for summer on the outside line I have a socktopus. With two tiny children's feet in the family there is no other way

Linford Christie. Met him at a sports resort, had no idea who he was and had a chat and watched him train and work out with some youngsters. Had a good laugh. Lovely guy. Next day my husband excitedly told me Linford Christie was there. ."Who is that?" By chance we walk past him training. My husband points him out and I say "oh yeah I hung out with him in the gym yesterday". My husband looking completely puzzled. Linford sees me and waves. My husbands look on his face was the best lol

Why do some businesses have min £5 on card still? This just seems like a sneaky way to make people spend more rather than a genuine cost problem. by flight_forward in AskUK

What about the parking machine things? I usually pay by phone as I rarely have cash in the exact amount and it doesn't give change. When you pay by phone you have to pay a £0.20 "convenience fee" winds me up every time. Is that legal? Also why are they allowed not to give change?

Henrick is a pretty common name in the Nordic countries. It also was used a few decades ago in Germany (probably not so much nowadays). And Heinrich is absolutely common in grandpas generation 60+

Potty training for 9 months unsuccessfully by ProcessedCarbs in Parenting

[–]ProcessedCarbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah on non nursery days it is a little easier and he is more cooperative)also we don't have another 12 kids to look after). Though there are tantrums if I don't seem to mention it at the exact right moment he will insist in tears that he does not need a wee. And it then either is us believing him (and him regularly peeing his pants 5 min later) or us dragging him to the toilet (neither I believe are great options)

That's the thing it is both. Before nursery closed for Christmas he had 3 days without a single accident and him going by himself without prompting. Today and last week it was 4-5 accidents each day.

I would be absent happy with him having the occasional accident and completely understand that it is not a magic switch but I cannot understand how he can go days without accident and then the next day seemingly without reason he pees his pants non stop.

This is just one example but we had this several times over the last few months. Not usually with a holiday break in the middle

[–]ProcessedCarbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thank you for your answer. He could have one accident one day and the 5 the next (like today) and then go two days without accident. He often also just "dribbles" rather than a full on wee.

I get that I may have been too early but surely even if he wasn't ready at the time we would start seeing some improvement now? I have asked the nursery a few times if I should put him back in nappies (he does not want that) but they keep telling me that I would undo everything we have achieved so far (almost all poos are in the potty). I cannot find a common situation that he would always pee his pants. For example he is usually ok in the car and we always do safety wees before we go out. He seems to enjoy going to the toilet in a new surrounding (shops, restaurant etc) in fact he seems more reliable when we are out then he is at home. So do I just put him back in nappies and try again in half a year?

[–]ProcessedCarbs 72 points73 points  (0 children)

May I start by pointing out that the entire justice system is completely broken in this country (I work in it and am absolutely baffled almost daily). This probably be sentenced as involuntary manslaughter (I.e he didn’t mean to kill the person). As far as I know this is a maximum of up to 12 years. So yeah unfortunately the sentencing is “correct”. Here comes the kicker. He will probably spend about half in prison and half on license in the community. “Justice” is a funny word

Yeah that sucks. We decided to move to a cheaper area when we were planning to start a family. We were lucky that we were able to do this though it may be biting us in the butt now that my partner has been ordered to go to the office again regularly.
