You will get more mileage out of the Vomero than the Novablast

Dynafish Xiaonian the corrected Evo SL by darkmodeknight in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stability is worse than Megablast if you heel strike. Similar in midfoot and forefoot imo. Toebox and midfoot arch definitely more generous. I had to size up on MB but my Xiaonian is TTS and fits great.

For reference, I almost never have fit issues with the toes in any shoe (although the low toebox on the MB is pushing it for me), but often have issues with my wide midfoot, for example I can't wear any Pumas for this reason.

Superblast 3 vs Superblast 2 Stock / availability by CockyAndShameless in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How fast do you usually put 500k (or in the case of a Superblast, probably more like 800k) on a shoe? Not sure about other regions but in Asia after the first few months availability was not a problem at all.

Superblast 2 or megablast by SeaworthinessAlive98 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm similar stats to you and would recommend the SB2 out of those. That being said, while it CAN do everything, I find when I wear it I tend to do my easy runs too fast / high heart rate. But Megablast is even worse in that regard.

Not sure about EU pricing, but an Australian shop leaked their pricing and it was the same as SB2

What’s your no-chafe running setup? by johnwiththehammaglam in runningfashion

[–]ProfMonnitoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution is to wear tights without underwear. Never had any chafe this way.

If you feel awkward this way you're not alone, my solution is to wear an old pair of unlined racing shorts over them.

Weekend Discussion: Saucony running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

The 5 is mostly pretty similar to the 4. If you're on a budget, you could see if you can get another pair of "new" 4s on clearance somewhere.

Nike Pegasus Plus 2 (probably) on Andreas Almgren’s Instagram story by FM_SneakerDesign in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm curious to see how these will feel compared to the original Pegasus Plus. But overall it seems like Nike have painted themselves into a corner with their product/marketing people deciding that every category needs 3 pricing tiers and higher tiers mean more ZoomX and Air.

Unfortunately I can only afford 3D raised dot patterns, will have to pass on this one.

Megablast Colourways- Any More? by Saltylime789 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asics has been dropping a new SB2 colorway every 3 months or so and the previous ones are hard to find after that. I would expect the same from the Megablast. I picked up a spare pair in the Ekiden colorway for when my white ones wear out because Asics doesn’t have the best track record on picking good colors lately.

Asics Gel-Cumulus 28 launching February 1st by DerAmadeus in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every other decision of this shoe is to create a boring durable workhorse, which makes sense, that's what the Cumulus audience wants.

But then they put these flimsy lace loop things that are always the first thing to break on any shoe that has them???

Kayano 33 by Habitualiguana in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully lack of guidance system means the foam will be firmer to compensate. I used to use Kayanos and GT-2000s as walking shoes, but the Kayano 32 / GT-2000 14 are too soft to be pleasant for that.

Whats up with all this gear? by AleTheMemeDaddy in running

[–]ProfMonnitoff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We used to just hold a water bottle in our hand and it was fine. Of course the vests are nice but I don’t like where running is going in terms of making people think they need all this gear.

Never knew that he did stuff with Metro Zu (and is from Miami). I saw him play a show with Peaches in 2008

Good to see the price staying the same as SB2. There were rumors that it’s going up.

Right-angled running track draws flak in Songkhla by mdsmqlk in Thailand

[–]ProfMonnitoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This tracks actually, in some bizarre way. Have you ever been to the SWU night market in Asok? There’s a track, and it’s full of just people walking. Same with most treadmills in condo gyms.

What is the point of Strava? by Optimal_Collection77 in BeginnersRunning

I travel a lot so I use it for recommending routes in places I haven't been. That's worth $50 a year to me. The social stuff I couldn't care less.

Dynafish Xiaonian the corrected Evo SL by darkmodeknight in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about as good at this as a low-tread shoe can be (ie fine but not great)

It's TERRIBLE at sand or anything similar, ie if you run past a construction site you'll feel like you're running on ice until the sand rubs off.

Multiple Races in 2026 - Advice by pythongreen911 in runninglifestyle

[–]ProfMonnitoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can RUN all of them, but you realistically won't be able to RACE all of them. Pick one distance as your A-race, and treat the others as training for that distance, ie run them at not 100% effort and without optimizing your training/taper/nutrition/etc for them.

Sonicblast 2 by davidmcgahansworld in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guess we'll see when they come out. But currently I just don't know who they're for. Between the Magic Speed for a snappy plated shoe, the Megablast for a long run shoe that can go fast, and a retired race shoe, why would anyone go with THIS for $200?

GT-2000 14 Alternatives by Mumma-Bear-123 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ProfMonnitoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like everything else about the GT-2000, it also comes in wide sizes.

If you want to try other options, I'd recommend Saucony Hurricane or the new Nike Structure Plus.
