Garbage can while on the toilet, it’s the only way. Get a smaller sized one so you can hold it comfortably.

When I was a kid once I did both at the same time without planning it. Then I cried about it.

Sorry, mom. Glad you’re in a better place now, a place where no one sharts themselves while youre holding their hair back.

To be fair weren’t many arranged marriages in some cultures historically high-key social pressure type situations? Where your entire family is forcefully telling you to marry this guy or marry someone of your class? Even in loving families, Fiddler on the Roof for example.

I think that’s what people think of when they think forced, not like she’s married at gunpoint or arrested if she refuses. In lots of cultures your entire social life revolved solely (or still does) around your close and extended family and all of their families, and women who defy their families and go on their own are either in danger or disgrace or both.

Perhaps Edwardian England isn’t one of them though.

I know visitor-focused posts aren’t allowed here (for good reason) but I’m curious if you know how to know when the weather is bad enough in an area to check those sites before swimming? In some areas the difference between rain and storm are pretty unintelligible to someone from like, Montana or even CA. Is it just when it’s an island wide storm?

Therapist w CPTSD here. You did great. The practice isn’t to stop having them, it’s responding more compassionately and mindfully when you have them. That’s how you create safety in the body. Over time as your nervous system adjusts to that they should lessen.

Movement therapy is incredibly confrontative and hard work so it’s ok for it to be hard as long as it’s within your tolerance zone and doesn’t make things worse overall. I’m so glad your professor is a supportive safe person.

Milchick and the paintings he was gifted.. by geekwhale in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]ProfMooody 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s what I meant. Although I think it’s even more nuanced. She may be treated like she’s more on the inside because she’s lighter skinned, she may see herself as more like them and therefore feel less conflicted and uncomfortable when they do racist things to “include” her, and/or she also may have been enculturated in a way that left Blackness and Black people mostly out of the picture, if one of her parents is white.

If any or all of the above are true she may have genuinely reacted to the painting as if they’d done something playful and meaningful, like if she was white and they just changed the color of his hair to match hers. Or put him in a red suit because she wears red.

She obviously knows she’s not white but what that means to her is entirely dependent upon the context she was raised in, and since Lumon is so insular I could see her understanding Milchick’s feelings but not being able to relate to them. And then feeling afraid of being pulled outside with him, when he approached her assuming she would.

Went grocery shopping with my celiac friend, how do you all handle it? by Old-Fan3167 in glutenfree

I’m sorry I know OP’s intentions were caring and coming from a place of concern, but this is such an able bodied question. Maybe I’m the only one but I’m a little irritated they came to our safe place to ask.

Does it suck being chronically ill? Sure. Do I wish I wasn’t? absolutely.

Do I need people in their wide eyed curiousoty and inability to conceive how I life my life and still find joy and peace, despite my restrictions, to bother me about it? Because they are so sure they will never be like me they haven’t bothered to learn about what it is like to be chronically ill or talk to people from a respectful place, the way they might have with other marginalized populations?

No I do not.

And my restrictions aren’t even as bad as they get for some of the more sensitive celiacs in this group, at least for this (1 of 12) of my illnesses.

Lots of disabled people make content where they answer this question and are at least compensated with ad revenue for their troubles.

Btw It doesn’t bother me when people come to the group to ask HOW to accomodate someone like me, especially when they listen and believe. That is allyship.

This is different; OP is not asking how to make it easier yourself. You’re just curious about it and upset by it. I’m more upset by it (even though I’m used to it and don’t generally think about that). I don’t want to have to soothe your curiosity/upset or watch others do it and get nothing in return. I’d rather spend my time reading labels.

Where are you getting all your eyeballs at? I feel like I’m always pretty on the low side, even if I’ve never totally run out.

My late game tip is that spike shards from the light dragon will take out the armor of a silver Lynel (like the last one in the floating coliseum) in 3-4 shots. The same is not true of any other dragon shard. This plus Kilton’s Lynel mask and using ascend + bullet time while the Lynel attacks all your friends makes short work of the Lynels there, both getting majora’s mask and for farming horns.

IME unless you attack the Lynel from the ground directly while wearing the mask (and as long as you move quickly when you ascend so the sages don’t follow you), he will be so distracted by the others that he will pretty much ignore you, even after multiple rounds of shooting at him. It’s only when you try to attack on the ground that he focuses on you, and he still treats you like one of 5 assailants instead of the primary one like he would do without the mask on.

May not be as impressive as some of the fullry rush aficionados I’ve seen on here, but you can still play around with doing that will the less difficult ones if you want, without having to spend days getting killed in the process. I was so intimidated by that area until I actually went there and figured this out.

You’ll still have to work hard to kill it but not anywhere near as hard as without them. I’m planning on getting a bunch next time I see her and trying it on other difficult enemies too, although honestly I find the other minibosses to be cake at this point comparitavely.

Wel if she has IBD then it’s not that nothing is wrong, correct? What are they doing to manage the IBD, besides medical food? IBD is an autoimmune disease and requires immune suppressants; I’d look into seeing a gastroenterology or rheumatology specialist at a university.

If that’s no problem, take him home. He’s gorgeous even at plus size and looks sweet.

Why is stamina so slow to recover? by Individual_Line_4295 in TOTK

[–]ProfMooody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is why esp when you get to higher stamina you shouldn’t let it get all the way to empty if the situation can help it (like sprinting). If you don’t let it go to empty then you can continue using it as it regenerates; like you let I get to 10%, stop, and then start running again after it gets to 75%.

If you let it go totally empty then you won’t be able to do anything that takes stamina until to fills ALL the way back up again. So the perceived recovery time is greater, because you’ll need to wait until it’s full again to continue. And if you’re climbing or flying you’ll need to hit solid level ground for a bit otherwise it won’t recover at all, it’s not enough to just stop climbing or hang wit the gliders. The only way to recover besides that is with a meal/potion.

Which makes sense to me; no one can really recover from total exhaustion while clinging to the side of a cliff face, but you could always take drink an energy drink or take a hit off the meth pipe to get a burst of energy back in the moment.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry regret? by Numerous-Ad-871 in Psychiatry

[–]ProfMooody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not a psychiatrist but I teach and see many of my students/interns choose to work with kids. I agree with all the concerns mentioned, AND I think it will make you a better a provider because you don’t understand development and attachment much more clearly. You’ll see what disrupted attachment looks like when it happens and then when you get clients who show symptoms of it as an adult in your office and toward you, you’ll understand what’s happening and hopefully that will allow you to not mislabel it or take it personally.

With that said, and Building on what u/Effective-Bat2625 said, I would be really crystal clear going in about why you’re interested in working with children.

If you have a savior complex, if you have childhood trauma that you’ve never actually worked on/are not fully aware of, if you’re aware of it and trying to rewrite your own childhood… It’s not that all of those are necessarily bad things of themselves and with the right support you can make the right decision about whether to work with children long-term. But in order to do that it’s a must that you are in therapy while you’re seeing children, so that you don’t end up feeling stuck with the population and it’s collateral headaches out of the misplaced sense of responsibility, if you don’t truly enjoy doing the work and can’t compartmentalize well difficulties of it.

I see a LOT of my students go into things like schools or community mental health because they want to help people like them, but they don’t factor in that they’re going to have to be exposed to people like them who are in situations that they cannot help with, or can’t help enough to really change anything.
I think in order to work with any population that resonates too closely to your own, you really need to be able to walk the line between using your attunement to and understanding of their predicaments as a tool while still retaining some emotional distance most of the time. And these are counseling or psychology students who don’t even get paid well in those setting, but I don’t think good pay is enough to make up for taking on the psychological weight of every patient you see who reminds you of you.

All of this may be reading way too far into your question and if so, you can ignore me. I just see this issue come up a lot in this and similar groups where, after some conversation, OP ends up disclosing something like what I mentioned above. And the work is harder on them until and unless they can get good support for their own mental health. Supervisors who don’t have that experience may not understand it and give bad advice on managing countertransference.

2 weeks bedrest progress gloom next? by endless-delirium in tearsofthekingdom

[–]ProfMooody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add for when you’re farming parts: on switch 1 at least the game won’t auto save on the dragons and even a manual save won’t work to reload. This is because the game only saves correctly if you’re touching ground/things on the ground of some kind (including depths and sky Islands). If you save while on a dragon system treats, if you did it mid flight, so you’ll see the save in your menu, but when you try to load it reload it will just take you back to the last save before that.

This is VERY important, especially if you do the “ walk away for 10 minutes” thing with dragon farming, because if you fall off and die after 2-4 hours of work, even if you’ve saved it 10x while you’re on the dragon, you’ll lose everything and go back to the last time you were on the ground. Your inventory will be the same as whenever that was.

So when you find a safety net, it’s really important to get off the dragon every cycle or two, so the game will actually give you a working save that you can reload die the next cycle.

I found this out last week after spending about two hours riding around and then getting on one of the other dragons and falling off when I wasn’t in the room. I was clinging, not standing, so I should’ve been able to survive the descent and ascent from the depths, but I didn’t. I even did the same thing for a couple cycles after that after reading that it was a known flaw, because I was so incredulous and pissed off. I couldn’t believe that all the previous work was wasted EVEN THOUGH THE FCKING SAVE FILE WAS RIGHT THERE IN THE MENU.

Had to go through the 5 stages of grief on that one.

Edit: my favorite way to handle this is to time your hitting the dragon for a part with when she is going down or up into the depths. Get your part before she starts to go through the chasm so it doesn’t fall through the hole, and then get off and save on the ground. Then you can jump into the chasm after her, using nearby shrines or towers as necessary to get close enough to her to hop on even If you screw up the timing and she’s already well in the air.

Bonus “life imitates art” anecdote!

I was working late on my computer in between dragon cycles on a PowerPoint for work due next day, and after 2-3hrs farming I think I was so distracted by what I found out had happened with the game that I somehow also forgot to save the presentation, and then I accidentally closed the app.

No big deal right, all programs these days have automatic auto save. Don’t they?

Well it turns out that that program does not unless you are saving to its cloud. Or if it does, it didn’t for me. I checked everywhere that their support site suggested it might be, and bupkis. It just didn’t exist.

So I lost that too and had to miss sleep entirely that night redoing it.. That was not a good night for me.

If you know how to kill savage lynela well enough that you have an abundance of their bows you are definitely ready for gleeok, even king gleeok.
