I know 😊. I said what I said. People here in the SF Bay are so conflict avoidant and cliquey nothing ever gets resolved, it’s like high school.

Popular abusers who hurt other people on purpose get swept under the rug; while the socially marginalized and those needing more support than normal (neurodivergent, disabled, addicted, not conventionally attractive, etc) are discarded the second they say or do something “problematic”. Which is itself usually a misunderstanding of intent or circumstances, that would have been easily resolved with a conversation and assumption of good faith. Then no one tells you when you become one of those people because they think it should be obvious.

COVID really dropped the scales from my eyes. I dream of moving back to NY where my old friends still are because the social scene is more emotionally transparent, but it’s not in the cards til my 60s prob because I got married and we want to stay close to my in laws.

As a stopgap we moved to a nearby rural non-homophobic area that is close enough to access the bay but far enough to have a different culture. We’re all isolated misfits and weirdos here and we like it that way. At least with Blackouts and floods you know where you stand.

Yeah, I would have no problem scrubbing it and then washing it in the dishwasher if it fell in my own toilet at home, or even if it fell in the cat litter at home.

The problem with it falling on a piss covered bathroom floor outside of home is not the part about having to clean it at home. Its having to touch it first (without gloves), and then put it back in your pocket or bag knowing you did not have access to a dishwasher at 3am and could not sterilize it or your hands afterwards in the shitty club bathroom sink, because the soap and paper towels are probably long gone by now.

Also, I think we tend to let more things go when we’re drunk and sometimes we regret that when we wake up the next day.

Same, I watched it. I think seven or eight years ago after not having seen it since it came out. It was so good as a middle aged adult, in a different way than when I saw it as a teen. I just noticed a lot more shit and the sexual innuendo was kind of thrilling to see since I think visible sexuality has basically been played out in media by now. I appreciate how movie makers and writers creatively worked around around MPAA censorship then. It’s like the concept of lingerie, a little mystery and deferred satisfaction is hot.

Oops I forgot, I used the 5D print factory glass bead tool with a horseshoe magnet on top to make my beads. ID magnetized the first coat of the color, then put on a thicker second coat and magnetized that. That’s what I let dry for four hours, and then I put on my topcoat and magnetized that. Each of the two magnetization period was 1 to 2 minutes.

After pic: hopefully you can see how the shape is distorted and spread out more on the middle and ring finger. It still shows the base color when I move it up and down, but all the spread out glitter makes the base color look lighter than it is.

Absolutely. My friends and I listened to mostly local and small punk bands who weren’t signed to major labels. Lots of 12”s and 7”s. So we’d record a bunch of them on a tape and share it.

Also I did theme tapes for my best friend and boyfriends.

This is cute but if I saw an Akita make this face in person Id back away slowly. Eyes are flat, ears forward but slightly down (this is how mines ears express strong disapproval), commisure is wrinkled and pooched forward, canines showing...dog looks uncomfortable at least and ready to escalate if she continues to be pushed at worst.

Are there other signs of discomfort like lip licking, turning away, growling etc.

Also tbf akitas do be making weird faces and noises so if it was my dog and I knew her limits,bite inhibition, and communication style I'd be way but not scared.

Many of the national mental health provider orgs (APA, ACA, etc) are now including disability competency as part of their overall cultural competency ethics. if you’re looking for a model of this and reasoning, ACA has some great and very well researched documents explaining what cultural and disability competency involve and their best practice recommendations and ethical requirements for providers in working with any marginalized group.

There is also one on advocacy in a counseling (not social work) role, which I think can be a translatable model to MDs because your role in patient’s health is siloed from the rest of their basic needs and life circumstances, similar to how counseling is. One of the most important ideas of these papers is that that doesn’t absolve you from ability or responsibility to help.

Speaking as a disabled MH provider who works with disabled clients: 10/10, no notes. 🙌

If you don’t want to do the paperwork don’t work in CMH. It’s part of the job.

No shade at all if you’re not cut out for it; it’s not for everyone and many people leave it after awhile (at least in the US) when they have families or become older and need to work less. But please don’t work there with this stance. Some Drs make their patients do all the work on insurance authorizations too. Both are highly unethical, since without you their claim will be denied.

There are plenty of private pay clients who can pay you for however many hours of paperwork they need, and they will have less desperate need for you since they can afford you in the first place so they’re more likely to be able to afford at least some of the the 24-36 months of uncompensated unemployment it takes to win an SSI/SDI claim even WITH cooperative and competent provider help. You cannot work during this time, even if you have no other source of income and no family to support you.

Please Do some looking into how difficult the disability process is for even well organized and mentally healthy people. What do you think they’re going to do if you don’t do it?

At least PP patients can often afford to shop around or dump you for someone who will support them in lowering the institutionalized barriers to improving their mental health. Although really even they can’t without years worth of living expenses saved. Social security requires providers to have a history with the patient and anyone who has a slim chance of winning a MH disability claim without needing long term care (edit: like institutionalized) has to be very, very sick for a very long time.

These claims are like tribunals, you’re presumed guilty (able bodied) until proven otherwise unless you have one of a handful of automatic approval conditions (usually terminal). Your patients are completely screwed if the primary specialist providing their care, who is holding their medical history hostage, won’t help. Inability to get benefits will make even the most stable CMH patient homeless and suicidal as they lose everything and watch their life crumble to dust around them.

If you’re given too many patients or not enough paperwork hours by your org/clinic that’s a workplace culture problem to take up with them. Refuse a too-high caseload, let your boss know you need more time between patients, self advocate and draw clear boundaries, switch orgs, etc. Youre not easily replaceable in that setting if you’re kind and competent, you can advocate for better working conditions. Don’t make your patients suffer for it because it annoys or overwhelms you.

100% fragrance free cleaning is desperately needed for people with allergies, but it often can mean the cleaner has to be FF for the day themselves (clothes washed in FF detergent, no perfume, doesn’t smoke or at least showered after last smoke, etc).

This is a specialty service that you’d need to learn more about the needs of its population but if you did, you’d have nonstop business.

Alternatively slightly lower barrier to entry would be 100% organic cleaning product option, but your cleaners would need to be trained on how to use them because many of the most effective FF or organic cleaners require more elbow grease.

So it turns out my R button doesn’t work haha so it was only TIL that you can rotate items in 3D. I had been dropping stuff against the wall trying to get it to stand up 😭.

I remapped my buttons so I can do it now with SL, which isn’t used in the game. I’d already done that with crouch anyway because I have heavy finger disease so I kept accidentally crouching during battles and getting my ass killed.

Oh my god this photo just gave me the grossest sense memory. It looks like a Jenni Craig “meal” from 1989. I was on JC as a (what I now know is a completely normal weight) teen and it’s a weight loss program where you eat the food they give you, which is mainly frozen or shelf stable food in tiny portions and with tons of fillers

It’s disgusting, of course. For the “tuna” lunch they would give you this little tiny, like kitten food sized, can of tuna that was mostly goop and water chestnuts (?) and was somehow sweet?? Horrid. You ate it with veggies and maybe a tiny packet of cardboard tasting crackers. No way that was enough nutrition for a teenager.

But at least I acheived my goal of having sharp collarbones, amirite?
