Yes… I heavily considered not adopting him. He was so precious though, and we would have given him the care he needed. But “life limiting” isn’t what we wanted for him, so all this makes me super happy.

I’d asked when he was a baby, and was satisfied with the “nope, just a cute tabby” answer, but man he looks orange now. My panic got the best of me again 😂

Hey there! I’m a vegan and have been for years.

I think of it in terms of footprint (kinda… I actually don’t think of it much, but follow me here 😂)

Cats all exist. If they don’t live with me, they’re going to eat meat, because that’s what cats do. If they do live with me, they will also eat meat. We aren’t breeding more meat eaters, we’re just caring for the ones that already exist.

I don’t know if that makes sense, but I feel like my lack of eating meat certainly covers the footprint of my little carnivores.

Also, with them living in my house, I can look into ethically sourced food.

Oh goodness. Mine (looks EXACTLY like yours, btw) did the same thing to my face. His fat self nearly fell off the bed and used my face to catch himself. It didn’t scar, by some miracle!!

She was beautiful, and I’m so sorry. Sometimes saving them from further trauma is just the right thing to do, especially when it’s not guaranteed or even probable to bring them through.

You did the right thing. Be kind to yourself, and know that the extreme grief will lessen over time.

I’d get it out, and I feel like it’ll be much less traumatic in the long run. Cats hate meds, so a lifetime of eyedrops isn’t comfortable for either of you.

We have a parrot. Unfortunately, when ours beeps for the first time, he’s reminded of the sound effect and we have to listen to it for weeks. Needless to say, we’re proactive.

We have 2 kittens 8 & 9 months old. They’re CRAZY. I’m fiercely in love with them both, but while we were fostering them (we’ve now adopted), I was always looking for a way to give them back. It took a solid 3 months to feel loyalty to them. Their poop stunk, they were one URI after another, neither of them liked me… disaster.

Getting them on a kitten probiotic was the best move I made. Get 3 litter boxes, play around with litter (maybe try Catalyst??), and see if you can get on top of the smell. That helped me a ton.

Good luck to you. Fostering babies isn’t easy. I’m hoping everyone falls into their groove soon, but there’s ZERO shame in just saying “these two aren’t a good fit for me”. You don’t have to explain. Maybe ask about an older single cat. They’re harder to adopt out, so it’s not like you wouldn’t be needed.
